  1. Beautiful pictures. You captured the cruise so well. I thought the Captain's duck collection was really cute. Did people go in the pool much on your cruise. It was too cold and wet when we went last year on this ship in April. Glad you had a great trip.

Temps were record highs on our trip, in the 80's and 90's, so the water was fine and there were folks in the pool.

Hi, I went to the Chef's Table (my cruise was back in 2016) and it was a lovely experience and the food was delicious too.:D I sail on my own and joined another couple. We had a really nice evening......if I recall, the portions are smaller BUT you get quite a few courses. I remember it as a really enjoyable dinner and would go again:)

Indeed, small portions but no one left hungry.

The wife did not touch one part of her entree and the waiter noticed, came over and asked how he could replace it with another selection! you don't see that too often.

  2. just completed danube cruise on amaserena, all went great despite low water levels.

great service, same as prior Ama rhine cruise a couple years ago.

i'll try to paste in the 'daily cruiser' briefs supplied by ama for those interested in this cruise.

highlight of cruise probably would be the night-time cruise around budapest with all buildings illuminated.

only downside would be the incredible crowds in just about each port; if done over, would book later in september or earlier in may.

  3. just completed danube vilshofen to budapest on amaserena. fortunately no disruption. we heard about other vessels that had to bus into budapest. difference might be that the amaserena takes 1.5m draught vs many others that take 1.7m, 7 inches can make difference.

also perhaps lighter load, the amaserna takes 162 pass + 51 crew, vs something like Viking Gullveig 190+50.

the sail into budapest plus the night cruise were spectacular.

  4. We are taking a cruise April 2019 that starts in Vilshofen. We plan on starting our vacation in Prague. We are looking for private coach transport for six people to go from Prague to the cruise ship in Vilshofen.

contact your cruise line about transport.

we are doing an AMA danube cruise next month, with pre-tour in prague booked through the cruise line.

the cruise line then transports us to vilshofen, but along the way, does a short tour stop in regensberg (sp?).

most other cruise lines do similar prague tours as add-on to the danube.

even if you're not doing the prague stay with your cruise line, they might be happy to arrange the transport. if so, it should be relatively reasonable.

  5. We took this cruise in July 2016 and it was fun.

Unfortunately high water levels disrupted the start and finish a bit, which is a fact of life in cruising.

We did a couple days before in Amsterdam, staying at the Radisson Blu hotel, which was fine.

Indeed, the highlight of Amsterdam seems to be the Anne Frank house; definitely book tickets way ahead of time.

We did an extra day after in Basel, which was ok, nice probably not as interesting as either Zurich or Lucerne.

    Have a great trip!
