  1. Here is what I don't get about Carnival's Dress Code...what they have on their website differs from what they list in the funtimes. On their website for casual night, it states NO T-Shirts...but in the Funtimes for casual night it is ok...just says no t-shirts for cruise elegant. If they are going to allow anything, maybe they need to change their policy. I actually prefer NCL's freestyle dress code.

    Main Dining Room(s)

Following is the dress code in the Main Dining Room(s) for both men and women and pertains to children as well:

    Cruise Casual Dress Code

Men: sport slacks, khakis, Jeans (no cut-offs), dress shorts (long) and collared polo shirts

Women: summer dresses, casual skirts, pants, capris, dress shorts, Jeans (no cut-offs) blouses and tops

Not permitted: Cut-off Jeans, men’s sleeveless shirts, tee-shirts, gym or basketball shorts, baseball hats, flip-flops and bathing suit attire

    Cruise Elegant Dress Code

Men: dress slacks, dress shirts, and we also suggest a sport coat; men may also wish to wear a suit and tie or tuxedo

Women: Cocktail dresses, pantsuits, elegant skirts and blouses; ladies may also wish to wear an evening gown

Not permitted: Jeans, men’s sleeveless shirts, shorts, tee-shirts, sportswear, gym or basketball shorts, baseball hats, flip-flops and bathing suit attire

  2. I hope our weather improves so we don't have to deal with that when we leave on the 21st!

Our of curiosity, did they sail further south or out to sea to try to escape the storm?

Yes, the Captain did take us father south to try and get out of it but there was no escape. I forgot to mention that our day in Ensenada was beautiful with no wind and clear skies. The trip back to LB last night was not rough at all. Winds on the trip were 50 knots gusting to 75 knots!

  3. I was also on this cruise, which we dubbed "Revenge of El Niño". Having cruised this itinerary many times, this was the roughest cruise we have ever been on. The ship listed to the side at times at such an angle that glasses on the tables were sent off the side crashing. We heard many items crashing to the floor one night in the dinning room. The staff were AMAZING and service was always with a smile...despite a few of them looking pretty green. The ship was pretty empty as I am sure most were in their rooms holding not feeling well. The only issue we had was the yellow water in our room. Nothing like taking a shower and drying off only to see a white towel covered in yellow guck...when you thought you were clean. Due to the swells, it had stirred up the water tank and sediment was in the water...thus the yellow. Only bummer was the $7.50 refund for missing our port. Last time we missed a port we received $20, their policy must of changed.

  4. Hello, I have sailed on both NCL and Carnival. Have never sailed on Vista, but have had Spa Balcony rooms on NCL (Epic and Escape) and Carnival (Magic, Dream and Splendor). We use the spa almost every day and now always book a spa room. The spa rooms on Carnival are either a deck below or on the same deck as the spa making it easily accessible. On the Magic, there is even a private elevator and staircase to the spa from the spa rooms which is great...keeps you from walking around the ship in your robe. I would totally get a spa balcony room.

  5. What car rental company has a shuttle to the port ?

Thrifty, we use them every time. You must choose to return the rental at the Port or they will not give you the shuttle ride...so pick up and return will be different.

  6. Having done B2B's before you can book these on your own. Met a couple who did 4 B2B's for a month. To make it easy, book the same room. It was nice not to have to pack up and just relax on the ship all day waiting for the next passengers to arrive. Your pretty get full run of the ship while the other passengers are trying to get off the ship.

  7. When is this information from? I didn't think the Escape had an Asian restaurant or noodle bar(other than Teppanyaki), what Tapas bar/treats are complimentary and...24 hr room service is definitely NOT complimentary anymore except an extremely limited menu early morning. I can't figure out what the colored dots mean also.

The restaurants listed on the right are on the Escape...the left is just the category. If none is listed on the right, then it is not in the Escape.

  8. When I purchased my specialty dining package it was called the 7 DAY specialty dining program and now NCL has renamed it the 7 MEAL specialty dining program. I called NCL to ask if I go to Pincho tapas (which is discounted on the plan) for a pre show app and then go to an included restaurant for post show full dinner, am I using two of my seven meals in the same day? They had no answer for me..... Would like feedback from this group please.

Man all the drama for a simple question. Here is your answer - the last time I spoke with NCL the meals are not per day but per meal. So if you visited two restaurants in one day it would count as two of the meals from a 7 day meal plan. We plan not to use the specialty dinner up charge and just visiting and pay the a la carte charge. For us, it would be cheaper that way.

  9. We were on this same cruise which was also "free" for us. We also had a sewage smell on the Upper deck aft elevator area. We had an aft cabin and had no smell...but to and from we had to walk through a significant smell in the hallways. We too did not get a bill, which I thought was odd. One thing I have learned from my half-dozen cruises to Mexico...don't eat anything...I learned my lesson years ago!
