  1. I'm looking forward to finding a nice, relaxing place to sit, drink and read a book while on the Escape in November. However, I am extremely fair as I have vitiligo. So I'm wondering... Are there any sundecks that have umbrellas or other kinds of shade over the loungers other than Vibe? If only Vibe has the umbrellas then it may be worth it for me to race to Headliners for a pass for the week, but if I can find a shady spot somewhere else on the ship, I may just skip Vibe. Would love some input from experienced Escape cruisers. Thanks! :)[/quon te]

There are umbrellas in Vibe, however, there are many times that there is too much wind and they will not put them up. If you need a guarantee of shade, may not be worth it.

  2. I have just turned platinum and am wondering if in fact that the port of Miami has an area designated for priority embarkation? I am told by my PCC that as platinum, we will board after Haven guests and before general boarding. However I have read several accounts on line from people who did not experience priority boarding and that the Platinum and higher guests were forgotten until after general boarding had started. Any first hand experiences are appreciated.

  3. We initially booked a midship mini suite and we bid $650 per person on the H6 (AFT) and the H7 (forward) suites. Our bid was in the poor range so we were excited to see it was accepted.

Glad your offer was accepted but we also are in a mini suite and bid significantly higher than you did for the same categories and ours was not accepted. Clearly it does not go to the highest bidder.

  4. Does anyone have any recommendations on entertainment on the ship? Something that's not to be missed while others just ok? (My husband and I are both in our 30s.)

How were the supper clubs? (For the record vs cabaret) and the two main shows? (Million dollar quartet and before midnight)

Has anyone been to the lunch wine tasting show or done the wine tastings at the cellar? Worth the extra charge?

What about the house live music bands?

Any kind of feedback would be appreciated thanks.

Million dollar quartet is on the Getaway. After midnight was not my cup of tea, but from what I did see, very talented performers. The brat pack, See it early in the cruise because youll want to see it again. In order to love this show you need to be familiar with the movies Ferris Beuller, pretty in pink, the breakfast club, say anything to really enjoy it. Oh what a night the tribute to Frankie Valli was also amazing. A little cheesy at times but so enjoyable. We saw it in the supper club but did the late show so it was show only, no dinner. We loved loved loved it.

The loungers were just like the blue ones on the ship and there honestly was not much shade on the beach where they were. But the view was great and the water was perfect. I got my snorkel equipment rental and headed off down the beach towards Infinity to see if I could get through the "kidney" area and past the reef. It was actually pretty easy and they had a couple of buoys near the entry so people could find it. I do not have any pictures from the reef since I was taking video and forgot to set it to take pictures but I don't have my video edited yet either. It was an experience, though, and I really wish I had been 100% so that I could have stayed out there a little longer than I did and see the drop off.

The bad part about this beach? The vendors were relentless. Most would accept a "no, thank you" but there were some who would just keep pressing. Really annoying. However when you were back on the resort grounds where the restaurants and seating were they did not get up there to bother you.

We had lunch here sharing a mango and goat cheese pizza and a pulled pork wrap with a few of the local beers. It was really good and not too much money.

The resort grounds were nicely maintained and they had some cute looking bungalows for rent.

We stayed a little longer swimming and walking around and then headed back so that Opfor could get some souvenirs. Another take-your-life-in-your-hands ride later and we were back in port.

    Which beach/island is this?

  6. Looking at the Haven aft penthousw with mastero bedroom on the Escape. After watching videos it seems that there are 2 different layouts. One has a door to the balcony from both the bedroom and the living area and the other has only one door to the balcony from the living area and the tub in the bathroom look out onto the balcony. Is this right? On NCL website the only floorplan shown is the one with 2 doors to the balcony. If I book based on the floor plan, I would be disappointed to get a cabin with a bedroom that ultimately has no window. Any info is appreciated.

  7. It was fairly busy both in June and September but always a table available. was only open until 4pm. prices are great, huge nacho volcano $6, burgers and fries I think $6 or so. That's all we had. Well worth the price for what you get. You cant get a burger meal at Mcdonalds for $6 lol.

  8. Looking at breakaway for end of January and reading lots a bad reviews particularly poor service. We love ncl and have been on epic and escape several times and getaway once and loved them all. Any thoughts from any me recently off breakaway?

  9. I will begin by saying that this was our 7th NCL cruise having sailed previously on the Epic, Getaway and Sky.

We arrived early at POM and received boarding group 1. Boarding started around 11:40 and was quick and painless. We decided on O'Sheehan's for lunch which was great. Some different menu items since our last cruise and a favourite of mine, the Chicken pot pie was no longer available. They did however add chicken fajitas which were quite tasty. After lunch we checked into Vibe and met the Staff. Roman was bartender and Renzi was both waiter and bartender.

We went to 70's music trivia at the 5 o'clock somewhere bar where trivia is held each night. Tonight was DJ Fly. We won the trivia with a perfect score :). We booked the 8pm comedy show at Headliners. The opener was not my cup of tea and struggled to get laughs but the headliner, Lucas Bohn was hilarious. I can honestly say I don't remember ever laughing so hard at a comedy show. Very excited to see his adult only show later in the week. This booked up fast and we missed it so remember to book early.

We saw Oh what a Night in the supper club at 10. What a fabulous venue and a completely entertaing show. the four performers on our cruise were outstanding. I only wish I had seen it a second time. There were some very cheesy choreographed moments in the show but that and the way the performers pulled it off made it a great show.

A very busy first day, taking advantage of all NCL has to offer and making sure to get the most of our drink package in between events;). We head to our inside cabin 13443 Pretty small really with no chair or sofa so only the bed to sit on. We made it work but I will say storage is not the best. The shelves inside the closet are not very deep. Storage in the bathroom is great. We asked for a egg crate topper which was in place already and the bed was very comfortable. More on day 2 to come....

  10. I cant say enough good things about NCL. We have sailed Epic 3 times, Getaway once, Sky once and Escape once. I will admit I did not love the Getaway but the weather was not good and I don't love the pool area. Its just too crowded but I do believe that the pool area is the only thing lacking on Getaway and Escape.

We loved loved loved the Escape. The service was outstanding, the food was amazing. We only did Teppanyaki as a specialty dining option and its a favourite of mine. We love the convenience of O Sheehans and both food and service were great. We read poor reviews of service there but common sense tells you when the restaurant is full it may take longer to get served. I have a particular way that I like my maritini prepared and in every bar I went to and had it made "my" way, the bartender remembered for subsequent drinks which shows their professionalism. I think negative reviews have their place but keep in mind what bothers one person will not affect the next. While I don't like the pool area on Escape or Getaway, we went into it knowing that so we stayed away from that area and enjoyed the hot tubs instead.

People complain about nickle and diming but they are just giving you choice. If a cruise was truly all inclusive many of us could afford it. I don't use the arcade so why would I want it included in my fare? Same can be said for specialty dining, or bingo etc. You pay your base fare with meals and spend on those extras that you will use and enjoy.
