One of my trivia teammates reported that he had to be tested at the medical center because someone on an excursion apparently has Covid. They notified everyone who was traveling in the same bus, so they are keeping track.

Some people reported difficulty booking their Covid tests within three days of this cruise. There are plenty of threads talking about that on these boards, so I don't want to restart that discussion here. Wearing a mask everywhere is a bit uncomfortable, but I understand it. I think it's ironic that we take them off, though, when eating and drinking with others close by. As I reported above about dinner last night, the waiters weren't removing the lobster tails from the shells. That's not really an inconvenience. It's not that hard to do. But it was one of the touches that elevated the dining experience on previous cruises. Participants at trivia are grading their own answer sheets instead of swapping them with nearby teams. So far, I don't think anyone's taken advantage of that to inflate their scores.

Thanks for your response.  We are conflicted about the cruise we have booked for December.

All the rules that are now being implemented take away the naturalness of the cruise experience.

    Decisions Decisions....Again..thank you.

  2. I just Washed some clothes in the sink and hung on the line in the tub. Easy

    I did the same...

We received a laundry order form with info that for $24.95 you can have up to 20 pieces of

Clothing washed and folded...not ironed and back to us the next day.

The launderette was still closed. I have not heard about Noro on the ship and cannot understand how clean clothes could be a hazard to ones health. If they fear the spread of germs take away the iron.

Today a tender port with an approx. tender ride of 25 minutes to the pier.

  3. Did they upgrade the machine so someone can win something?? :D

We spoke with an employee on board and he said they were upgrading the machine so that all the lines within NCL Corp.will have a Players Club type of coordination for the casino players.

When we walked through the casino the slot machines are not of the newer variety that you see at the casinos on land..payout the same😁 NADA!

Thought with the holidays so close the ship would be decorated, but not.

  4. Last night we were informed by the captain that the ship was clear of all outstanding gastric issues.

At lunch time to day it is back again with one person reporting to the medical center with GI.

As there will be a 72 hour wait for the ship to be clear again, so the ship might not be clear by the time it is scheduled to leave Miami.

For me the final straw came today my wife had soup from the Buffet in the terrace restaurant and produced a large piece of paper from her mouth.

On calling the food and beverage manager he took it away with a look of horror on his face, he did not come back to us with any explanation, I then asked the restaurant manager to call him for me.

After about 15 mins he was sighted again he did not come to me !! I had to get up to question him.

He came to the table with the chef who explained that whilst carrying the soup with a paper towel it fell in to the soup and he retrieved it leaving a piece that ended up in my wife's mouth YUK !! YUK !! YUK !!

No wonder they still have on going problems

    RogerB

So sorry to read of your wife's issue of paper in her soup. "YUK YUK YUK" is a good word description of your experience. Just to let you know that we have received a notice update that because of the NORO issue on your cruise there will be a "thorough turnaround

sanitation protocol prior to our embarkation in Miami"...so we will be boarding later than originally planned.

    Stay well....

  5. Let me give everybody the facts as some people are not understanding what is going on.

It was reported to the passengers on the 4th Dec that there were two NEW cases of NV on board.

Since then there two new cases of GI and the ship will be under level 2 of sanitation until we reach Miami.

These 2 cases were cleared today and the ship is now clear of NV, when we reach Miami there will be another deep cleaning of the ship which last time was not completed until 2.45 pm and it then took another 45mins to board the ship.

So don't arrive early expecting to Board.

    Roger B

Thank you for your "report" on the current cruise on the Riviera.

We are scheduled to board on 12/12/15 and have not received any information regarding

a later boarding time. I will call O tomorrow to find out what will be their protocol for

    boarding.

Hope you have stayed healthy and are enjoying the cruise!

  6. After thorough scrubbing/disenfecting and CDC inspection on ship between the cruises, and delayed embarkation due to this, this cruise (12/2), has has zero cases of Noro, and tomorrow will be the last day of extra rub downs of all rooms, walls, and common areas with special treatments. Meats tonight being served to preference (rare, etc), and tomorrow all salt/pepper, sugar/creams being returned to tables. Culinary classes will resume later this week (all were canceled until now). So far so good.

    Tina,

Fantastic new! Thanks for the update and keep the ship "in good health" until we join you on the 12th.

Enjoy.. and here's wishing you blue skies and calm seas.

  7. Here in the Los Angeles area (AOC, Gayot, Bar Toscana and many more) as well as other cities(Washington DC's Jose Andre's "Zaytinya" restaurant) that we have been to have this restaurant concept. It reminds me of Tapas where your party orders several "small plates" and "Share."

An interesting idea but I would think they would have tried it out on a few of the ships and spoken to the passengers to see if they enjoyed the eating experience. Because as we know "eating" is part of the cruising experience!!

  8. We just returned from the Coral Princess. They had the Sound of Music on MUTS one afternoon. There were about 6-8 people watching, however the afternoon when it was on, was very cold and windy. There very few people watching anything on MUTS for most of the cruise. We usually watch one or two movies per cruise and did not watch any this time.

We also were on this cruise and I too saw only 6-8 people watching "The Sound of Music"

on the cold and windy deck. I do not understand why the cruise director and staff do not take into consideration the weather conditions of colder climate cruises and plan events accordingly. They were showing movies in the Princess Theatre and could have changed the showing to that location for a larger audience. If they, Princess, are going to make it a special tie-in 50th Anniversary event they should give the staff instructions for greater involvement and participation by the passengers on board and not just MUTS location. JMHO

  9. Hello and Thank you for the information.

Hope they are able to get rid of the "germs" where ever they may be hiding and that the passengers who will board today are healthy and not bringing illness with them on board Coral Princess.

I also hope you were not afflicted by the noro virus.

  10. Thank you for sharing this information. We are boarding the Coral on Monday and will bring Lysol and or Clorox wipes to give the cabin another cleaning.

I too wish you calm seas and a Noro Virus free balance of your cruise.

We have been advised not to come to the cruise port until after 2 and that we would be boarding by decks. Leaving San Pedro 2 hours later than originally scheduled.

  11. Thanks everyone for all the helpful suggestions.

    .

There is "noro virus" on the Coral and one CC poster said they were under "Special Measures" in Horizon Court, in the Dining Rooms and on the ship. So I guess it is up to each of us to be ever so vigilant for our own health and safety practices while on board.

"Forewarned is Forearmed" as that old saying goes.

Safe and Happy Cruising to All....

    Anita

  12. After just going through a bout of norovirus with my family on the Crown I would make the following recommendations that I plan to follow on all of my upcoming cruises. It may seem draconian, but I do not want to go through that again.

Bleach wipes and Lysol for cabin clean upon arrival.

Avoid public restrooms as much as possible

Avoid buffet and stick with dining rooms, grill and International Cafe

If you go to buffet, consume only items eaten with utensils or get up and go wash your hands after you plate your food

Wash hands immediately prior to eating after handling menusg

Avoid touching hand rails, elevator buttons

Bring own pen or pencil for trivia

Scrub hands after any casino activity

Use hand sanitizer as a supplement to hand washing, but not as a replacement for hand washing. Do both!

Avoid touching your face, mouth, eyes and nose

And remember, you need to wash your hands for a good 20 seconds!

Thank you for the helpful hints.

Where do you find "Bleach Wipes?" Lysol we own and sanitizing gel.

  13. What is with the noro virus coming up from the Panama Canal and Mexico cruises up to California's West Coast ports? These past weeks there have been reports regarding Celebrity and Royal Caribbean cruise ships in San Diego, and now the Coral Princess coming to Los Angeles.

We have been advised to not come to the port 2 hours later than originally posted and we will be boarding by decks. Any advice and suggestions to avoid the dreaded "noro virus?"

  14. There might be 2 ships in San Pedro that day and I will tell you that our experience when the Golden and the Grand were in port on the same day.. complete chaos! The Grand passengers, we were among them, had to embark at the older location (white big tent) with the 2600 cruisers entering a smaller facility with very poor passenger door control. The line for Elite, Suite, and Platinum was awful. There was so much "attitude" I was embarrassed to stand in that line. Some passengers were in the wrong waiting line(they were going on the Golden) and had checked in their baggage in the wrong section. There were no announcements informing passengers which ship was at which dock. So this may be away to alleviate that problem..only guessing.

Have a great cruise...and know that this is only a small part of the cruise..getting on board!

  15. It's only half the dining room, actually. They do it because there are more people asking for early TD than can fit in the regular TD dining room. I think that suggests people really do like TD.

So, If only half of the early Traditional Dining room that is supposed to be for Anytime Dining is filled as you are stating why don't they let Anytime Diners into that dining room and be seated for dinner and alleviate part of the problem?

  16. Thank you for this interesting article. My hope is that the ships, especially Princess ships, do not get bigger. I do not enjoy cruising on floating "Disneylands", "Universal Studio Back lots" or "Knott's Berry Farms" or other amusement parks. Just like good manners and politeness are disappearing from our lives with electronic gadgets seemingly always in hand I fear that cruising will succumb to the same behavior and damage and destroy the cruising experience as I have known it. JMHO!

  17. We were just on the Grand in D730 aft mini suite cabin and loved the location. No noise and except for the full suites that were around the corner no traffic. Aft elevators easy to reach as well as the stairs. We prefer aft to forward cabins..just our own personal preference and would had no qualms about the open balcony. Enjoy your cruise.
