  1. Thanks everyone for the comments and the buffet suggestion -- not a bad idea.

We will be sailing after the change back to traditional dining and I'm going to try to get all our family on the same dining rotation. So maybe MDR service will improve? I'm curious to see how that works.

  2. Hello - we are booked on the Caribbean Princess Thanksgiving cruise this year, 4 nights to Grand Turk. I'm wondering what we can expect onboard for Thanksgiving day. I presume turkey & gravy in the main dining rooms. Any other special activities etc? Thanks.

The OP was asking about using the cruise line bus from the airport to the port...the opposite direction...and there's a big difference.

When you're boarding the bus at the airport passengers are arriving in dribs and drabs...five people on this flight, ten people on another flight, etc.  As a result you can find yourself waiting quite a while for the bus you're on to fill and head to the port.

You're describing what happens at the cruise terminal on disembarkation day. Hundreds of passengers are disembarking continuously so the buses fill and depart quickly.

You're right, my bad. 😄 We used welcomepickups from airport (LGA) and it could not have been easier. We went to hotel for 1 night first, then used them again the next day.

While it might be less expensive if you are travelling alone (not so likely if two or more are sharing), the cruise line transportation generally requires you to wait until the bus is filled - which frequently involves a long wait.

Long wait was not our experience a couple months ago. We disembarked early and there was a steady stream of guests loading the airport buses. If you were in a hurry maybe not the choice for you, but we had a 1pm flight from LGA and the load time wasn't an issue.

  5. Hello. I will be sailing the Rhine from Amsterdam to Basel on AmaMora in a few weeks. I'm wondering about how strenuous the bike tours are -- hills etc. I don't normally bike at home, but just did a quick trip around the mostly-flat Stanley Park in Amsterdam without trouble. I'm particularly interested in the bike tour in Basel since it goes through 3 countries, that sounds like fun.

Any insights or tips would be appreciated. Thank you!

For those of you who have returned and had the package Plus or Premier.  Prior to sailing did the packages show up in your Medallion area under Ocean Ready than the area that says Folio, Packages and prizes?  I booked the premier package and when I click on packages my app says I do not have any packages listed.  This is where I thought my premier package would be listed.  For prizes I thought the premier package lists princess prizes with your door unlocking?

Just wondering if I need to call Princess or my travel agent.  I would rather settle an issue before my cruise.

Thanks for starting this thread and the comments are great!

Contact your TA. They can send you the Princess "Special Services Summary" direct from Polar showing any packages, inclusions, gifts, celebrations, special needs requests that have been added to your booking.

Mine are also showing up in the app under "Folio, Packages, and Prizes" for our sailing in a couple weeks and for our sailing in September.

Maybe check to see if you have latest app version also.

  7. We'll be visiting Boston via Princess Cruises in Sept. My mom is interested in the Hop On/Hop Off. I see that the cruise line offers it, or I can purchase 3rd party a little cheaper. Is there a specific reason to purchase via the cruise line?

(For example, in Cartahegna last year, we purchased via the cruise line because they sent buses directly to the cruise terminal, which isn't on the usual route).

    Thank you.

  8. Go in about 8:30 in the morning and you will have Hyperspace Lounge to yourself. You can take some nice photos or just sit and enjoy the atmosphere and background music, which you can't really hear in the evening. The bar doesn't open until later in the day.

When I sailed in Sept reservations were no longer necessary and it wasn't ever crowded that I noticed.
