  1. Hello,

I am new to NCL and just accepted an upgrade to a Mid Ship Mini Suite Balcony Guarantee on the Joy. Knowing the ship is still to undergo all the upgrades required to bring her into the US.. My question is.. What do these cabin look like, if there is a risk of obstructed views.. Is there going to be something like a life boat right in our line of vision.. I am feeling like I made a mistake.. Please talk me out of it

    TIA

  3. the great thing about deck is that it says obstructed but in most cases where there is coves on deck 2 .. the obstruction is an over hanging life boat.. and I can say we were in a cove on the Breeze and it did not impede our view at all.. actually kept the deck of our balcony cool and shaded the whole cruise which it sure was nice not to burn the soles of my feet lol

  4. If I were to buy the GCs, would I be able to play for a cruise that we are planning on booking? This would be through a TA. Would the travel agent be able to apply this towards a cruise payment? Thanks!

Yes you certainly could.. I did this on our BC8 cruise and had no problems at all paying off our cruise. The bonus GC's I added the amount on board at guest services and was able to cash them out in the casino as the bonus ones are Non refundable obc.. which means use them or lose them..

    Cheers/ Salut

  5. We are booked on our next cruise as a group.. some of what has been said so far is true some not so much..

The group leader does get 1 free Berth per 8 cabins booked but it is not the whole fare it is only a portion.. the commissionable part.. Say of an $800 pp cabin the berth would be about $400 or so..still pays the full port fees and taxes..Anyone booked will get amenities points and the TA usually picks on thing from a list of choices .. many choose the $100 per cabin obc so the members can spend the obc as they wish.

If you book as ES rate many price drops can happen between the booking date and sailing date.. and NOT all of them qualify for group rate bookings so that is a huge down fall..

But with so many cabins being booked some one is either getting a whole lot of their buddies on for nearly free or the TA is pocketing the TC..

    happy sails

  6. Thank you for starting the thread.. I sure could use a break from all the smoking threads..

I have heard about Ships coins for purchase on some on line shops.. I would love to be able to buy one for each Cruise chip I am on and have it waiting in my cabin. Sure I love my SOAS but I just think the coins would be a neat change..

Thank you again for the change of subject.

    Cheers

  7. I got $2000 worth of GC during the proportion.1st let me say I am sorry you all are not having the best of luck getting thru and may even be out of time for these.

It was relatively easy to get them.I ordered 2-$1000 GC and with in 24 hours I got he 2 $100 GC sent to my email. Super happy about this..

I called my TA and got him to pay off most of the cruise . I wanted to leave a bit on there in case of price drop.

According the document I read it said this promotion was suppose to end at midnight tonight but you can still try.. the worst they can say is no..

    Good luck to you all

  8. Welcome

The newest is the Breeze.. at a 130,00 tons it is currently the large ship on Carnival fleet but the Vista due out in 2016 is 135,000 40 berths long will be the largest in their fleet.. there is fabulous thread going here on CC for just this ship and sharing information as it comes out.

If it is anything like the US inaugural for the Breeze bookings could come out as early and the late spring of next year.

Carnival is keeping very tight lipped about this ship and I will be watching John Heald's post on his blog very closely.

    Cheers

  9. So glad they caught him without more bloodshed. Thoughts and prayers out to the families hurt by this madman.

Yes they did.. They had him in a coridoned off area were they had the area secure for nearly 30 hours.. he was in someones backyard when the got him.. The only mention of Rambo was a mental illness call Rambo Syndrome where someone take on a persona of a fictional character because that is all their brain can handle..

One of the dead and a young child and another one on the way but at least no one else will get hurt at this persons hands..

I am sure will get the updates from many of the cruisers as the communication lines are re opened.. It was on 10 minutes after midnight last night EST that they caught him and on the news things are slowly returning to normal.

When they caught him he said " He is done".. Ya buddy you are done!!! Keep praying for Mike , Tracy and the others until we hear they are safe and sound

  10. The RCMP are similar to our Armed Forces in that we are esprit du corps no matter where we live.. This affects the whole country and the family of the Red Serge..

There were students on a field trip to NB that we know personally and I can tell you those kiddos could not wait to get on the bus out of there and on their way home ..There will be lots of hugs and tears for them I am sure..

May god keep them safe we will keep them in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time..

  11. Apparently they opened up a ton of them on Friday for a lot of different sailings. Mine has been sold out for months, but finally they opened 15 of them for my November Miracle cruise on Friday. Still 11 left today.

If you look back to Friday posts, it seems that's when they opened the FTTF flood gates.

Got one for the Bloggers cruise

  12. We did on the Breeze.. and spent lots of time on the balcony..I really liked that is was cool on the feet all the time( well so lng as you are under a life boat) the View was never obstructed other then if you wanted to look at the stars then I would suggest going up to the Lido.

We love the Coves and would go in one anytime.

    Happy Cruising

  13. Go to Bentleys ( the place that sells all the suitcases and travel stuff only) and get tracker wine bags.. they are dbl bubble wrapped, dbl zip locked and velcrowed shut.. I have NEVER had a bottle of wine broken or checked .. I walked right over the security with them in my hands and asked if they wanted to see them.. nope no problem..

    Have a fabulous cruise

  14. I am Canadian and I will be on Carnival Valor in 43 days. Beacause this cruise goes to Barbados, we received an email from Carnival about the YF certificate. Is it required for Canadians ??

Not as far as I know but like the other poster said .. read the fine print.. After being on 9 CCL cruises I have never had to submit any certificate about YF..

  15. I also use Tracker wine bags.. you can get them at your local Luggage specialty store. Or Google them..

They are bags meant for carry 750 ml bottles which is what you are allowed per person of legal drinking age staying the same cabin.

The bags are bubble wrap insulated with dbl zip locks and velcro flaps.. I have been shipping wine this way for years and never had any damage and you can keep using them again and again.. watch for the sales on them and you should be paying about $10 for 2 bags.

  16. Soda card.. get is after you are out to sea for 1/2 an hour so you save the taxes.. it is worth it if you drink alot of pop..and for the kiddos it is a must IMHO

Pre Paid Tips...takes care of everything and every except the Maitre D if you choose to tip him you do that separately. but I always tip a little extra to those who go that extra step for us.

Dining... depends on you. If you normally eat by say around 6 PM then early is for you however if you usually eat later in the evening then Late is the way to go..

Liquor and foo-foo coffees..are all extra and they will add an extra 15% on the bar tab automatically

Reservation only dining.. is always an extra

Behind the scenes, excursions, Chef's table are also extra..

The Pride is a fantastic cruise ship and you are getting a personal friend of mine as your CD. Josh Waitzman is a real down home gentleman with a twisted sense of humor that will come out every once in awhile.

    Have a fabulous cruise!!

  17. The only wine I have seen come from a machine is attached to a bottle in the Library of the Breeze.. found it strange but functional.

There is no risk of oxidization of the wine if it is hung up in those machines ..

    But anyway..

I have ordered a really great Italian Muscato and a fabulous Argentinian Malbec so no issues at all with ordering wine by the glass..

    Cheers/Salut'
