We like the Radisson due to the nice pool area, the fence around the property, and

the restaurant next door for dinner.  The shuttle has always been good for us.

What is the name of the restaurant next door?  I would like to review their menu to see if it is a good option for our group of 12 and make some reservations.  Thank you.

Thanks for the info. Was also wondering if it rains, will the snorkel boats run? Our forecast for next week show 90% rain for Barbados, St. Lucia, and St. Kitts. We were planning on snorkeling at all 3 stops.

Try not to stress about the weather.  As we set sail on Sat Oct 6 the captain announced that they were predicting bad weather for the entire week and we had perfect weather.  You can never tell in the Caribbean!!!  Have a wonderful cruise.  We loved all of those islands, in particular Barbados and Pirate's Cove.

  3. We enjoyed our day at Pirate's Cove a few weeks ago.  Comfortable chairs, beautiful beach, great bar area with picnic tables and hammocks, live caribbean music playing softly in the background, Best rum punch of the week, delicious food.  We wouldn't hesitate to go back again.  We opted for just transportation, beach chair and umbrella rental thru Glory Tours but there was an option to add the snorkeling beforehand and at the beach once we got there.  A few of our group went on the 9 AM tour and loved it.  It lasted about 90 minutes to 2 hours.  They spoke very highly of it.

Interestingly, we walked to Boatyard to get a drink at their bar, however they would not serve us because we were not spending the day there.  I thought that was kind of strange because they place was not crowded at all.  It was early in the day.  We wanted to check out their restaurant and thought we might even eat there but their loss.

This is one of my most favorite beach spots.....Hope this helps....

If this were true, the waiters wouldn't be begging the guests during the cruise to make sure they leave good marks.

On our Freedom cruise the week of Oct 6 our waiter told us at least five times to be sure we rated both him and the food high marks.  It was so annoying.

HI everyone, I am travelling with a larger group of 8 and we were looking at the excursion with Carnival for the Carambola Beach Club but there are no reviews. Just wondering if anyone as done this particular excursion. The description is mainly about St. Kitt's and the view, not much information on the excursion itself of whats included/not etc.  I have seen some great reviews of the Beach Club itself, but any information would be greatly appreciated! We are just thinking it would be easier to do an excursion with the cruise line since we are a larger group.

    Any tips????? or info?????

    Thanks everyone & happy cruising!

Try Reggae Beach Bar and Liz Pereira Tours.  She is awesome to work with and her specialty is groups. We've used her twice.

  6. We met a couple on our cruise last week that had done Carambola and did not have very good things to say about it. They said it was way too crowded.  We went to Reggae Beach Bar and thoroughly enjoyed our day.  However, the water sports company needs to update their floats and I have been told that they are in the process of doing so.  The Coconut Shrimp and Fresh Fish Sandwiches were delicious at Reggae and their Pina Colada's are awesome. Enjoy your day in St Kitts

Was there a place to change or do you juggle a towel?

you have to pay $1 every time you use the bathroom.  It's worth it because they are very clean and well kept. We were there last week and although it is a small beach close to the airport the scenery was beautiful and we enjoyed a great lunch from one of the boardwalk restaurants.  Ask for Sean or Jack. They were very helpful in getting us our chairs and umbrellas and arranging our authentic St. Lucian lunch which was delicious.  $25 for a large plate enough to share.

  8. Back from Ffryes Beach.  It is such a beautiful beach.  We had arranged group transportation (for 12) thru Bonita Tours in advance.  There was a bit of an issue with our return (driver double booked) but it all worked out.  We were there early and got prime real estate as far as the beach chair location.  The woman "renting" the chairs was a bit iffy on her pricing, changing it from $15 to $20 within minutes.  There are alot of vendors that visit the beach and massages were offered for $1 a minute.  Dennis restaurant did not disappoint with a very delicious burger and fries.  Royal Caribbean had an excursion come to the beach and they took up the chairs closest to the resteraunt and they were very close together.  We were very comfortably spaced a few yards away from them.  The water was beautiful.  The restrooms were clean and located behind the restaurant.  It was a very pleasant day.

Pirates Cove sounds like a good suggestion for our beach itinerary.

They also offered a swimming with turtles and shipwreck snorkeling tour a few times during the day.  It was our favorite day of our 7 day 5 port cruise.

    Hi all,

Looking for recommendations for a Hotel in San Juan pre-cruise. Also, when I get off the ship (Dawn on December 16) what's the earliest flight time you would suggest for flying out that day?

    thanks for any recommendations

AC Marriott Condado, great location, very modern, very accommodating.  Great coffee/breakfast place adjacent to the hotel and many shops and restaurants within walking distance.  Largest Walgreens I have ever seen for last minute items (wine, sunscreen etc.)  Can't speak to departure time on Dawn.

Is the snorkeling only to see the turtles or do they go to a shipwreck also?  I've seen both mentioned, but since you were just there last week thought I'd ask 🙂

Thru Pirate's Cove it was both the turtles and the shipwreck

Barbados is a new place for us to check out. We are a couple of older ladies, and "wonder" if the Boatyard is the place to be? If not, could you suggest another place for a couple older ladies to check out? We like the beach, but didn't know what else to check out while in Barbados?

I suggest Pirate's Cove.   We spent the day at Pirate's Cove, great bar, beautiful beach, good food, very friendly.  Would return in a minute.  GREAT RUM PUNCH

  13. Lobster Alive was closed last week.  We loved Pirate's Cove.  We walked to Boatyard from Pirate's Cove for a cocktail but they wouldn't serve us because we weren't spending the day there.

  14. We booked thru Glory Tours and it was $15 per person US for transportation, beach chair, shared umbrella and the BEST rum punch of the week.  We loved it there.  It was such a beautiful beach, the softest sand and the prettiest water.  You can also add the swimming with turtles ahead of time or the day off. It got rave reviews from fellow cruisers. They offer a buffet lunch or an ala carte menu. Word of advice: If you order food, stay and wait for it.  It seems orders got lost if you left and then came back ten minutes later looking for your food.  The food was very tasty.  We opted for ala carte.  It was a great day and I would not hesitate to go back again next time we are in Barbados.  I plan on writing to them to see if they will share the punch recipe.

  15. We loved Pirates Cove.  It was the prettiest beach we saw on our Freedom cruise last week.  We booked thry Glory Tours and it included transportation, beach chairs and umbrellas and the BEST rum punch of the week!!!

  16. Quite a distance from the ship to the gates.  You have to pass thru a  small shopping mall and then you head out to the walkway to the gates.  You may want to see if you ship offers any assistance.  I did not see any shuttles last week when we were there.
