Victoria is great to get off for a nice walk to the government building area. You don't have peddlers bugging you every two feet to buy something and you don't feel like your life might be in danger 😉 either. It is about a mile to the government building area.

Kitty Corner to our Legislature Building (2nd Picture down) is a place called the Steamship Grill...it is one of the places we take any cruise friends or crew/staff we pick up at the Pier (Ogden Point) during during their stop in Victoria on their Alaska Cruise...when they advertise this as the best patio in Victoria they are not kidding...Their Patio overlooks the Inner Harbour and if you ask for a Table 'closest to the Empress' you would have a GREAT view of the Empress Hotel (THE Victoria Landmark), the Legislature Building, the Inner Harbour, the Songhees District, Olympic Mountains, etc...anytime we have cruising friends who we are picking up while they are on an Alaskan Cruise this is where we take them...Nice place for an Appy and a Drink

    Recap:

-Sailings from San Juan are my favorite. Those islands are just magical, beautiful and different in so many ways. I probably could have done without Guadeloupe, but I will probably give it another chance but not without an excursion.
-This being my fourth VV, some things are growing a bit old. The pj party could use an update. Scarlet night is still a blast but I can see it becoming redundant soon for me. Duel Reality is amazing but doesn’t have the impact the second or third time you see it. I appreciate they are coming out with new things like comedy and different guest bands. They are changing the menus and things too, so I like that. Adding the chicken at the Dock House, Valentines specialty menu, etc. I still love Loteria. And the ship is holding up well.
-I really appreciate The Happenings Cast and the crew! Ali (stewart) was fantastic and we really didn’t have any problems with service anywhere.
-With a big group, you really have to be flexible and go with the flow. I’m still mad that the excursion in Antigua was canceled due to boat engine issues, but that sort of thing happens, I guess.
    What’s next?

Next sailing is with the kids in May on Royal Caribbean’s Allure of the Seas.
Thank you all again so much for following along. Any questions, ask away. Really appreciate all of your comments, as always. Thanks again.

Thanks again for taking us along!!!!

Everyone else is opting for a nap. It’s sprinkling. But I think I’ll have a beer. And there were pier runners. Can’t get back to the Explorer OTS quick enough. Back on board time was 12 minutes ago.

We stopped by this Bar on our way back to the Ship in November. The new (last year) Owners (Husband and Wife) of the Bar are from Kentucky and very nice....spent about a 1/2 hour chatting with us.

  4. Thanks for setting this Page up!

We'll be on this Cruise with Dee's Brother and his Wife, and 2 friends from near Galveston in Texas, 2 from England and 2 from Chicago.

Will be our 1st time to NYC so we are flying in for 2 Nights/1 Day (supposed to land at LGA at 7:40pm on Saturday, the 12th) before the Cruise and staying 3.5 days after the Cruise (fly out of LGA at 3:30pm on the 28th)...figure this will be a once-in-a-lifetime trip to NYC for us so we want to see and do as much as we can.

As far as the Cruise goes we LOVE the Itinerary and are very much looking forward to it!!!

Don't know. We would never rent the Ocean or Hillside cabanas, but that's just us. Patti did mention that the water looked better than it has in the past. 🤔

From reading your past Reviews we've been looking to reserve one of the Pool Cabanas for our 11-day Carnival Venezia Cruise in  October and only the Hillside and Ocean Cabanas are/have been advertised since we booked and we booked the Cruise in March of 2023 and looked at the Excursion list immediately.

Because there's 10 of us we were looking to book the Private Oasis on HMC as well (have booked the Oasis twice before) and that was marked as 'Sold Out' back then. It's an Ultra Casino Cruise (we were invited but it would have cost us $ 1800.00 US more to book into the Ultra vs the casino Offer we used to book) so wondering if the Casino has the Oasis and the Pool Cabanas reserved/booked for the Ultra Group...don't expect you to know the answer as I was just thinking using a keyboard 🙂
