  1. This is will be my 2nd time in Jamaica and my 1st experience wasn't the greatest. We did the city type tour through Carnival and I just wasn't impressed and didn't feel safe. This time we've contemplated just staying on the ship but since we'll be in port from 8a-5p my husband is wanted to see if there's somewhere to go for lunch and drinks. I understand we can't just walk anywhere so I know we'll need to get a taxi, but I'm a little nervous. Does anyone have any recommendations?

  2. I've done Salsa, salsa and Margarita twice. Once with 3 other women and once with my husband. Both times everyone really enjoyed it. When you're making the salsa, the servers are constantly coming around bring you frozen margarita refills. While not strong, you start to feel it after a few. My husband didn't want to salsa so I ended up being partnered up with another woman. We had fun.  My husband still talks about that excursion today and how much he really enjoyed it.

  3. The gratuity is not based upon what they think you will drink. It is 20% of the retail cost of the drink package had you purchased it ($89). So you will pay (up front as the Choice promo charge $17.80 per day). This amounts to about 2 drinks a day if paid out of pocket. If you think you will average 2 or more drinks a day, take the package, if not pass on it and pay as you go.
Ahh ok that makes sense. Thank you!

  4. I'm confused about the gratuities. When I dummy up a reservation, after I enter the guest info, it adds $249.20 to my total with comment "Choice promotion service charge". So you don't pay the gratuities on each drink at the time of ordering you have to pay based on what they assume you'll drink?

  5. We'll be on the Disney Dream in a few weeks and my friends is looking for an option outside of the cruise line to book a tour to the aquariums at Atlantis. She found "Bahamas Day Pass" on TripAdvisor but there are only 3 reviews. Does anyone have experience with this company or know of a more affordable way to tour the aquariums?

  6. Thank you everyone for the great responses! While I understand I could just take the elevator (which I always do when we're dressed for dinner) and that stairs won't really balance out a bad diet, I appreciate all the replies and awesome tips. I drink plenty of water at home and on vacation (I rarely drink soda). I'll be using several of these at the gym starting today.

  7. On every cruise I try to take the stairs as much as possible. I feel like walking up and down several flights of stairs balances out the food.. LOL My problem is my calves are burning by the 3rd day even if I stretch every night. Does anyone else have this problem?

I like to consider myself an active person. I'm overweight but I work out 4-5 days a week with a mixture of weights, elliptical, treadmill and Zumba. Regardless of all this I get winded by the 4th flight of stairs. Today I started with just 5 mins on the Stairmaster with a level 1 and walked 7 flights. I'm hoping doing this a few days a week will help build my endurance.

Anyone else have this issue and any tips so I'm not limping around by day 3? (I realize I couldn't just skip the stairs or just only walk down the stairs but looking for alternatives to keeping me active). Thanks!

  8. My husband HATES dressing up for dinner on a cruise. He thinks khakis are too dressy so he wears pressed jeans and a pressed button down shirt and leaves it untucked but buttoned with dress shoes. I think it looks really nice and it makes him feel more comfortable. I, on the other hand, work from home and I'm in sweats or pajama pants with t-shirts all the time so I look forward to dressing up.

  9. We're sailing out of Ft Lauderdale and it's our first time leaving from this port. Our ship is due to arrive 6:15a, but I know that can vary. We haven't even figure out how to get to the airport after disembarking, but is a 11:39a flight too early? The next flight would be 3:43p but it's almost $200 more per person (you would think flying into DFW, a major hub, there'd be more non-stop options).

Also, any tips on airport transfer would be greatly appreciated.

  10. Thanks for all the replies! I didn't think there were any theme nights, but wanted to make sure we didn't miss anything. My sister and I are huge fans of Quest. We get really competitive. I'm a little disappointed at reading about the nighttime entertainment but I'm sure my friends and I will find something fun to get into.

  11. I'll be on the Navigator of the seas sailing out of Galveston in less than 3 weeks so I'm starting my packing list. This is my first time on RC. Are there any theme nights I should prepare for? Like Disney has pirate night so we bring something to dress up with the theme.

Is there a "midnight buffet" (which is usually at 10 or 11p)?

We'll be stopping in Cozumel, Roaton and Belize (if that makes a difference).

  12. I've read several reviews about which company to use and physical fitness levels for the walk/hike, but what about actually getting into the tube? I picture what it's like at a waterpark and I'm trying to manage getting my butt in the tube and I fall out of it and start over several times. Is it that difficult? Also, I have a friend who is a "big girl". Is there a weight limit?

  13. That's what I remember as well that the past guest party was in the main theater and there wasn't a bar. I remember the drinks being free, but not that great....

I have to agree. I went to the past guest party earlier this month and had 2 drinks (a blue hawaiian and a screwdriver). I swear there was no alcohol in them. I'm not a heavy drinker (maybe 2 margaritas once a month), but I felt no effects of alcohol and usually I'm a light weight.
