Taking a cab to Valley Church Beach with a few other solo's from the ship. There is a nice beach bar here, and the beach and water is great !
Any good for snorkelling?

Thanks Runner15km! I've seen you around the roll call for our cruise! Whatcha doing in Antigua?

Is it well marked where to go to catch a taxi or bus route safari? How frequently do the bus route safaris run?

Last time we were in St Thomas, we took one of those open-air safari trucks into town to go shopping. I vaguely recall that the also went to some of the beaches, but can't remember which ones. Are either Sapphire Beach or Coki Beach serviced by these trucks?
Thanks!

Thanks Dooglas! We've been to Antigua before but it was 7 years ago. That time we did a snokel/kayak excursion and it was fun, but we want to do something different this time.

None of the cruise ship sponsored excursions appeal to me for Antigua. I'd like to see a bit of the island, then hit the beach. Are there vendors hanging around the pier waiting to take you on that kind of adventure? We've had good luck on other islands doing this sort of thing.

I think after 5 days in NYC, our first ship day will be a recovery day! LOL, then day 2 will be back at it.

This is interesting. Our itinerary has 3 sea days to kick of the cruise, followed by 4 port days. I might try and get up early on the sea days and beat the rush.

Thanks dsnygrl! I have some long slow distance runs to do on our 8-day cruise and 140 laps around the jogging track seems like a dizzy undertaking. I was hoping I'd be able to commandeer a treadmill for a good chunk of time.

1) How busy are the gyms on a typical cruise? I imagine there are busier and slower times of day, can you give me any insight on that?
2) Are there time restrictions on the cardio equipment?
3) How are the fitness classes?
Thanks!

I really would appreciate it if Carnival could come up with a way to let us know that the people in front of us were smokers at the time we booked our room. They had booked theirs already, and we certainly would have moved somewhere else if given the opportunity. I know this would open a can of worms with the upsell fairy and people moving last minute, so there's probably no perfect solution, but I would really like to be able to know prior to booking, if the room is already booked, are they smokers? Again, it didn't ruin our vacation, but we certainly could have avoided some unpleasantness if there were a system in place.
100% agree. Being next to smokers totally ruins the balcony for me. Maybe they should have an area of balconies that are smoking and make the rest non-smoking.
Tours at the Pier?

I guess I'll travel light and leave my gear on the boat at this port.
