  1. We are taking a Princess British Isles cruise in May and flying in at least 1 day early. We will probably stay at a hotel near the Southampton cruise port. Any hotel suggestions and what is the best way to get from Heathrow airport to the hotel? I assume we can get a taxi from our hotel to the cruise terminal. It's our 1st trip to Europe and any suggestions would be appreciated..... including how long should we stay.... what to see.... hotels... etc.

  2. Today....... I noticed I could save about $300 by rebooking my Celebrity cruise that I booked online. According to their web site, you are allowed to rebook if the price changes. After being on hold at least 50 minutes, I finally reached someone. I know they are probably busy.... with less help.... but feel the longer they make you wait.... the more likely you will hang up. That's a plus for them. Once I finally reached someone, it took another 45 minutes to rebook. They continued to tell me I could not rebook with different reasons. I finally told them to cancel and was then told it would take at least 45 days to get my deposit back. I finally said cancel & it was then.... they allowed me to rebook. Any one else have this issue?

  3. From what I've seen... the drinking glasses in the buffet are 6 to 8 oz. Probably closer to 6 oz.

A normal drinking glass is about 12 oz.

When we eat out and have ice tea or soda with our meal, we normally get 1 to 2 refills. This would mean we drink at least 24 oz. of tea or soda. Probably closer to 30 oz.

Just my opinion... their glasses are too small. We normally use 2 glasses each to avoid getting back in line. This means they are cleaning twice as many glasses just for us. This also adds extra cost to the cruise line.

  4. I'm slightly confused on the dress code. I've sailed Carnival about 8 times & thought Celebrity dress code was very similar. According to the Celebrity website is the following quote..........

Note: T-shirts, swimsuits, robes, bare feet, tank tops, baseball caps and pool wear are not allowed in the main restaurant or specialty restaurant at any time. Shorts and flip flops are not allowed in the evening hours. Additionally, guests are asked to follow the "Smart Casual and Above" dress code in the Celebrity Theater for all evening performances.

I must admit, I've always been a short nut, especially in warm weather & on vacations. I just enjoy wearing shorts. (The statement talking about shorts & flip flops are not allowed in the evening.) Are they talking about the entire ship or just the dining room? On Carnival, shorts are OK anyplace except the dining room & are widely accepted. Is this not the case with Celebrity?

I'm presently having regrets about booking our cruise with Celebrity...

I'm ready to cancel & go back to Carnival.

I'm not attempting to dog people that enjoy this. This is just not our cup of tea.

Celebrity appears too much formal for what we enjoy. We don't really want to get dressed every afternoon to walk aroung the ship. Hopefully, I'm wrong. I was looking forward to our cruise.

    thanks,

  5. Celebrity does not have semi-formal nights, only casual and formal. It is unlikely that you will see men with jackets on casual nights unless they are cold.

OK...I've got to ask.....This is our first time to sail Celebrity.....

What type of clothes are expected in the dinning rooms on casual nights?

Can you wear shorts without getting the, I don't believe it look?

What type of clothes are expected in the dinning rooms on formal nights?

    Can you wear slacks?

Most ships have at least 2 formal dinning rooms......

Why not allow shorts, etc. in one & slacks, suits, etc. in the other?

We normally bypass the formal dinning rooms completely because we rather not dress up. Is this fair.........I don't think so......

    My opinion.........

If you want to dress up on vacation....fine...Do it.........

Just don't force it on everyone. It's not everyone's cup of tea....

  6. I'm probably not the norm on this subject but give me shorts or a swimsuit on a Carribean cruise. I don't pack a suit & expecially don't pack a tux.

If necessary, I might pack dress slacks. Yet, I do my best not to wear them.

Hey.......this is a warm weather vacation. Let's keep it that way.....

I'm lucky, my wife feels the same way.... Shorts or a sun dress......

Who wants to pack dress clothes in a suitcase for a cruise?

OK guys......Am I the only one that feels this way?
