We just received an offer for a cabin upgrade on our Dec 3rd cruise on the Rotterdam, I’m going to call them tomorrow and I’m curious if you can barter with them at all.  We presently have a inside cabin but will probably upgrade to a veranda, I’m sure there are different rates for the location of the cabin..is it possible to get the forward rate for midship etc?

We just booked the twelve day partial Panama Canal cruise, I am now reading that other cruise lines have canceled all their canal cruises.   Does anyone have any info regarding Holland America making any changes?  We only booked that cruise because of the canal, I wonder I’d we will be able to cancel with a refund if they change the itinerary?

I can’t tell you about the later show, we only tried to go to the 8:00 shows.  We also were on a port intensive cruise, the ship traveled very slowly between ports so the vibration was only an issue when we had to travel a long distance.  

We just returned from 11 days on the K-dam, we enjoyed just about everything about the ship.  The only negative things were if you wanted to see the 8:00 show you need to show up before 7:30.   The position of the toilets in our veranda room, very awkward.   And finally the vibrations of the ship especially when traveling 15knots and above.  We were midship, cabin 5089, and the seas were only 1-3 feet and the vibration made it difficult to sleep comfortably.  

If we want to park in the garage right at the port what time should we arrive?  Does it ever fill up?  We don’t want to have to scramble to find somewhere else to park.

Just got an email upgrade offer from a VH deck 4 (obstructed view) to VA deck 5 midship for our Mar 6th cruise on the Koningsdam! I grabbed it without even consulting my husband!   

Thanks for all the helpful info!   I watched the Koningsdsm leave Sunday, I think we will try to stand below the stack that has the HAL logo.

Koningsdam, Port Everglades. Plus how do you know if the camera is on you?.   

Does anyone know a good spot to be at on the ship to give the webcam a wave so our family can see us while we are sailing away?

We don’t make reservation, we just go to the MDR whenever we are ready.  

I wouldn’t be so quick to cancel anytime dining, we choose it all the time and never have had a problem.   For us it gives us a lot more flexibility to dine when we are ready!   

Is there any snorkeling at the Marriott?

Have you experienced any high winds while at sea and do you have any sea of the wave heights? We will be sailing on her the first week of January and have booked a guarantee so our cabin will probably be forward where motion is the most noticeable    

Do you maybe mean the stern cabins, which definitely have larger balconies?

Thank you everyone for your input, I had a feeling it was too unpredictable but thought I’d give it shot.  

What are the seas in the Caribbean typically like In January and February or December   We are planning on the half transit thru the Panama Canal from Ft. Lauderdale and that might help us decide which month to go.

Great restaurant! It’s our favorite!

I am trying to book online dinner reservations at Tamarind and I can’t seem figure out how. Last year I had no problem booking for our Alaska cruise but on the new site no luck, I also bought a bottle of vodka to have in the room etc. Am I trying to soon, our cruise isn’t till February?

So glad I booked an aft cabin after reading all the replies. The only problem I can see is it’s on deck 6 maybe should have gone for a lower deck.
