  1. Well...our cruise is scheduled for May 9, 2021  and RC took our final payment.  When we booked this cruise last year was hoping by now Cruising would be back to "normal"...and all the kinks would be worked out from COVID...didn't want to be the trial run. But the latest notification on RC website is cruises will resume May 1, 2021.....to be honest as much as I was looking forward to it...not so much now. But by everything I've read on here doesn't look like it might happen?

  2. We had an obstructed view on the Quantam and would never get an obstructed view again. I guess it really would depend what the obstruction is. Ours was the top of the life boats and a large beam in front of our room. The worst was there was a rope that was attached to the beam and something else that kept banging against the beam. But honestly after that cruise we are not fans of the Quantam class as we do not like the lay out of the ship. Felt too closed in for us.

  3. I too am guilty of watching some of my shows while at sea..lol..especially a TA which we will be doing in 12 days on the Harmony (not like I'm counting:rolleyes:. I too have a stressful busy schedule and hardly get any quiet down time. I take my kindle get the internet package and watch Netflix. I had it on the Oasis last year and the streaming was great. Hoping the Harmony will be the same.

  4. Never had our luggage taken, but almost...when we were leaving the ship and went down to pick up our luggage...I saw a man grab my suitcase and start to leave with it. I was so glad I just happened to be there. It was an accident he just thought it was his.

The second time our tags were ripped off and the luggage was placed in the unclaimed area.

We now take our bags off the ship ourselves :)

  5. We have done 2 TA East bound in April and they were great. As previously stated much quieter. The only con I thought was that after relaxing days on the way over, the remaining port days were tiring. Then to jump on a plane and fly back and go to work was kind of a lot for me.....so finally this October well be doing just the opposite on the Harmony! I'm so excited. We got such a great deal on a balcony room because we booked it last year. We did airfare through Air2sea and for one way for me and hubby it was like $900. Can't think of cons really....love TAs:) btw it is fun going during Halloween...We won the group competition on Halloween night one year...so were going to participate this year too :). Can't wait....5 more weeks!

  6. I called RC today and asked about dropping off our luggage as I read on here that you can do that, but the representative I spoke to said he wasn't familiar with that procedure??? I told him my understanding was that someone at the port takes your luggage to your ship so you just have to contend with your carry on. For those that have done this, does this take place at the terminal your assigned to ? how does the process work once you arrive at the port? I'm sorry for so many questions just a little overwhelming. We don't want to miss the ship ...lol. Our ship leaves at 6 pm, the RC rep said we should be back by 4 pm to board if we decide not to board at 12:30 (this is the time he said we will be able to board the ship). We too will be flying in after an overnight trip of 8 hrs landing at 9 am...so just want to have no worries. Thanks again for all your help!

  7. We are going on the TA cruise on the Harmony from Barcelona on October 23rd.

RC is offering a 4 hrs tour from airport to ship. Has anyone done a similiar tour from airport to ship? We're arriving in Barcelona at 9 am..I called RC they said we can't board until 1230 pm. Was wondering what options we have once we get to port as we will have luggage? Any feedback will be much appreciated.

  8. We'll be going on the Harmony on Oct. 22 from Barcelona to Florida. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get from air port to the ship? Also we are arriving at 7 am in Barcelona. Would like to do some sightseeing other than the excursions offered by RC. Would like to visit La Famila Sagrada. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  9. We're sailing on the Harmony on October 23rd and I signed up for the 30% discount for one device with surf and stream. I did some homework and it was a good deal. 13 nights for $163. And it did not add a VAT tax (we're sailing out of Barcelona to Florida). So I'm happy. And like you I want the connection as soon as I walk on board. Don't want to keep waiting for promotions throughout the cruise. As Diamond members we get a one day free Internet connection or $30 off package of original cost. I believe we got a better deal getting it now. BTW if you get the 30% discount you can not add your discounts you get from your coupons.

  10. Which complaints cause you the most concern?. Crowding, bad service or something else.

We're sailing on her in April and while we're not ignoring the recent rash of negative reviews we're taking them with a grain of salt.

We've sailed on her before and I can't imagine that the few extra cabins they've added since have created any noticeable difference in the crowding which we didn't see as an issue on first cruise.

We've had instances of bad service on previous cruises and know how to correct the ones we can and roll with the ones we can't so I don't see that as a reason to cancel the cruise.

The Oasis and Allure are two of our favorite ships with so much to see and do. If I notice any significant changes on our April sailing I'll be sure to post back.

As for St Thomas, Dh and I think it's a lovely island with some of the most beautiful beaches we've ever seen and we're looking forward to our return to it in Oct.

  11. We tried them once when we took our kids with us and they were hit or miss and more aggravation than they were worth. We've never had any real issues finding fellow cruisers or each other on any cruise. If we see ya, we see ya. If not we'll see you at dinner.

  12. Ok then, traditional dining is not an option on the Quantum but a variation of it will reportedly be available on the Anthem. As for our experience with DD I would say we could go either way and be happy.

We always cruise with a group and on the Quantum there were 10 of us. All dining reservations were made well before the cruise but we were able to change some onboard without any problems. With early seating we never had a wait.

We enjoyed the menu variety and the food quality was as good or better than what we've had on prior cruises.

Most of our group preferred the traditional dining experience where you have the same server every night but this was/is not a big issue for us.

I guess it all depends on what you like or can tolerate.

We weren't a big fan of the Quantum in general but DD wasn't one of the reasons and it wouldn't prevent us from booking on a ship that had it.

Other options? The Windjammer or Specialty Restaurants.
