I don't remember if I had mentioned it before that we used Carnival gift cards from AARP to pay every bit of this. They have $100 and $500 gift cards that cost $90 and $450 respectively, so our entire cruise, including all extras, was 10% off! There is no age requirement to join AARP, and it's only $16/year, although they usually run a special on the first year of membership - right now it's only $12. (caveat that their rewards page has been down for purchases for a few days for maintenance - but will be back up 1/3)

 

No, I don't work for them, and I'm not a paid advertiser...lol. It's just an amazing idea that most other cruise lines don't offer - for some of them you can only use it for the initial deposit or for on board credit.

 

 

Do you book through AARP?  Can you explain how this works

After our Carnival Venezia cruise this past October, we walked off around 8 am with our luggage, crossed the street to the line of legit yellow cabs and immediately got one who took us to Monyhan Train Hall. We had no problems at all.

Can you tell me how much the cab was

I read that taxis are cheaper is that true?

This was the first ship we sailed on. We sailed on her when she was The Nordic Empress. We then sailed again on her for our 25th wedding anniversary. Seeing your beautiful pictures has me wanting to book another cruise on her. thanks for taking the time to share your pictures and write your review.

I enjoyed your review /comparison. We will be taking our first Princess cruise this fall, we too usually sail Royal Caribbean, so we our really looking forward to sailing Princess this time. I have a question, you said that you made reservations and booked an excursion on line before your cruise but paid at invoice. Was that at final payment or at end of cruise. We have $800 OBC and we are planning on using it for excursions and dinner at a specialty restaurant. That is why I am asking if it is end of cruise then it will be taking off of the obc.
