She didn't know the exact time, but I do know she came straight to our cabin after boarding, and she arrived about 3-5 minutes after the ship started moving. So maybe 4:25p or so.

 

She knew she was really pushing it to get to the dock on time...and almost didn't.

Years ago, a member of our party was late, but made it on the ship. But we didn't know that when the ship started moving, and we thought she was stranded.

 

The ship left on time, which means they didn't pull up the ramp until the last minute. But don't the ropes have to be untied after that happens? Seems like all of that would take at least 5 minutes or so. Which is strange, because it was probably 3 or 4 minutes after the ship started moving that she finally walked into our cabin. Shouldn't have taken all that time for her to walk the length of the ship, but who knows.

 

Also...at no time did the purser come to our cabin to get her passport. Isn't that standard procedure, to hand passports to the port agent, for pax who aren't checked in?

Right… but on the Oasis class at least, neither the Boardwalk nor Central Park balconies are that close to a pool deck.

This is an odd picture. It looks like it was taken on a cruise, but what ship has balconies that look onto the pool deck? And who would want a balcony cabin like that?

It’s certainly possible, if they all are refrigerated or whatever from the same control unit.

Do we know that’s the case? Or is it possible that they first put the body in the morgue, then the morgue equipment broke down?

Other than the obvious gross factor, it's possible that the drinks cooler is the same temp as the morgue drawer. ie the body might have (in 5 days' time) ended up the same either way.

 

But given that 2-4 people die each week on a cruise ship somewhere (1 out of 150,000 passengers), you'd think that "how many days can a body be kept in the morgue drawer" is a known number by at one or more crew members on every ship. Which implies if death occurs early in a 7-night cruise, the body and relevant passengers need to get off at the next port to get home. If it occurs late in the cruise, then you have the option of staying on board until normal disembarkation.

 

Or something like that.

We're taking a shuttle van that won't be making stops. Anywhere in the airport, or at the cruise port, where we can buy a bottle of wine for our carry-on? Looks like airport duty-free store is an option only for arriving international passengers, so not us.

 

Nearest store I can find at Canaveral is Cape Canaveral liquors, but we won't have much time for Uber to/from, so I'd really like to find something inside the airport or the cruise port.

Does Royal not do 4 or 5 night dining packages on Oasis class ships anymore? All I see on the site are individual specialty restaurants, à la carte.

Since I'll be with her the whole time, the chances of that are near zero.  Not to mention she can handle herself.  

We've been offered an upgrade to Aqua Class.  DD will be (barely) 15, but she is often mistaken for 18.   Will she be denied access to the Persian Garden, if we go together?  (rules say guests must be 16)

We were just on Allure, and since we had a CP balcony, we got a free lunch at Giovanni's (sea days only).

 

The lunch menu we were given was vastly different from the one we could see on our stateroom TV. The TV version had spaghetti carbonara, Wagyu hamburger, pork belly as an appetizer, etc. The restaurant one was very stripped-down, with fewer appetizer and entree options. I ended up with a seafood pasta, one of three non-vegetarian options. It had 2 shrimps and 1 mussel.

 

Could this menu be because it was a free lunch? Is there a different lunch menu for freeloaders?:) Or is there a different lunch menu on sea days?

 

(The TV version I looked at was not the dinner menu btw--for example, the TV dinner menu had steak, TV lunch did not)

Is this the same picture that you mentioned that melody had in her review? Because the 5-night package is showing online (no discount) at $125 per person. Not sure what RCCL means by a 40% discount.
