  1. I just got off a one hour  twenty minute call with RC and their Resolutions Deck.

I had booked and paid for the Island Cabana's for a July 15th cruise. I never received an email stating that the final cruise payment was do, so RC cancelled the cruise along with the shore excursion. After a long call with RC rep (Charlie) we manage to get my original booking restored and final payments made. He was very helpful.

I was transferred to the Resolutions Desk to reinstate the Island Cabana booking. The person I spoke with was of little use. She said the cabana was still available, but that i would have to rebook at the current price, which is $1300.10 higher.

I understand that it was my responsibilty to made final payment, i just with they had sent me a reminder

  2. The Overwater Cabana is limited to 8 people. I will have 7 adults and two children ages 6 and 8.

I have been told by Royal Caribbean that the cabana issues color coded wrist bands and will only allow eight per cabana. I asked if the ninth person would purchase a day pass and be allowed in the cabana. I was told they would not allow this. This is a deal breaker for me.

Has any else had this this issue? How do they prevent someone with a day pass from walking out to the cabana?

    Thanks

I was in the 2 bedroom suite. I know what I am talking about. At least the room I was in.

In the 2 bedroom, the tub and shower area are right up to the window. Each has a pull down sun shade, not a blind. You can see right thru it, not designed stop sight, just to cut down on the glare of the sun. As far as seeing in while on balcony, all you have to do is turn your head in that direction, just like looking in thru a window. If you are in the tub 6 inches away from the glass or the shower 2 feet from the glass there is little protection from the balcony during the day, at night with the bathroom light on, there is none.

Still a great room that I would book again, just stating facts about the bathroom.

OMG.  You should never sail NCL 2 bedroom suites because there is always a picture window to the sea in the shower and tub area.  It not possible at all for anyone in an adjoining cabin to see you in the shower (as you stated).  That is ridiculous to say.  You really seem bothered by windows to the sea.  With your philosophy balcony cleaners can see in balcony cabins too.  Good gosh if you are naked.  You also do not know about windows.  Those windows are already tinted for sun protection and privacy.  You can only see through them if you are right up next to them  OR if it was at night and you were showering with the light on which in case you would draw the blind.   I have the same windows in my house in Florida.   So much drama about nothing.  If so much festering and fear about people spying on you in your cabins, you will never be a happy cruiser.   This sort of reminds me of the also absurd debates about the Epic curtain and housekeeping opening the door without knocking.

You can adopt me and I promise that I will NEVER complain about sailing in a Haven suite in the 2nd bedroom EVER. 🤣

On another note, I disagree with your rationalization about the smaller balcony.  The large balcony can fit loungers easily and would be like another room for 5 people in that cabin.  You will appreciate the extra space.  People will have common sense to not walk past the master bath if there is someone in the master bedroom/bathroom area.  If you don't think so then pull the shade when in the bathroom.  I think you are festering about a non issue and short changing your experience.  The balconies on 17 vs 18 are apples and oranges.

I was on deck 17 on the Encore. Even with the sun shade pulled down, anyone on the balcony can see right into the tub and shower area. I suspect that a passenger in the adjoining stateroom could look around the deck partition and see in also.

NCL could solve this by putting a one way film over the windows.

Be sure you are not in the tub when the crew is cleaning the balcony!!!

as far as being a larger balcony, we are only talking about maybe 3 feet wide by 10 feet long.

I guess I was kind of vague. The NCL Encore. We travel alone. Usually travel Oceania, Crystal and Viking. But cruised on the MSC Yacht Club with 5000 other pax.

And it was fine. We are older than dirt but that doesn’t bother us. Just want own restaurant and lounge etc.

we were in the yacht club on the MSC Seaside 01/04/20. Haven on Encore on 01/12/20. MSC has dedicated elevators for suite guests, Encore does not. We found the forward elevators on the Encore to be terrible, stopping on almost every floor.

The Haven costs about twice what the Yacht Club does. The Haven is nice, but not sure it is worth twice as much. Food on Haven is much superior to Yacht Club though. advantages and disadvantages to each.

Most email address' I use bounce back. I was told by an NCL employee to send information to upgradetechissues@ncl.com.

at least this one went thru. I will update when I get a resolution.

The main reason I have posted this is the hope that someone at NCL is monitoring this site and to let others be aware that mistakes are made.

got and email from NCL within 2 hours stating they sincerely apologize for the issue and the refund will be credited back with 7-10 days.

thanks everyone for putting up with my rants and thanks for suggestions on how to resolve

Per your original post: I bid on a room upgrade on the NCL Encore on the 01/19/19 sailing. I bid $200 to upgrade to a mini-balcony and was successful. Herein lies the problem. NCL charged my credit card $200 for my bid along with an additional $200 for someone else's bid. I have been trying to straighten this out with NCL and my bank since 11/19 of last year.

So this happened well over a year ago (you don't say when your bid was accepted and processed)?  If those dates are correct, it's no wonder you are having issues getting it resolved.  As already said, bids are processed by a 3rd party, using the credit card information you provide when you place your bid.  Under normal circumstances your credit card would simply give you a credit and work with the vendor to resolve the issue.  But since so much time has passed, that may not be possible.  Good luck

    my mistake, cruise 01/19/2020

Just got an email from NCL saying they sincerely apologize and that the $200 will be credit back to me within 7-10 days.

I suspect it was someone at PlusGrade that screwed up, since they are the ones that collect and store your credit card info when placing a bid. But you are correct that something was very messed up there! Have you spoken to someone at PlusGrade?

Plus Grade is new to me, never heard of it. Thanks, I will give that a try. Customer NO service is useless.

  12. WARNING!!  WARNING!!  WARNING!!

I bid $200 for a room upgrade and was successful. Problem is, NCL charged my credit card for my $200 along with $200 for another cruise passenger. This happened  on 11/19/2019 and I am still trying to get straightened out. My bank was able to get a copy of the cruise confirmation for the other passengers showing my credit card number being applied for their payment. I have had to submit a fraud claim with my bank which required me to close that credit card and have a new one issued. Now I have to go thru the process of having automatic payments from utilities changed.

Bottom Line -  Someone at NCL screwed up and no one wants to take any responsibility.

We are booked on the Encore in an H4 2-bedroom family suite on deck 17. I have looked on several review sites, including NCL, but I cannot find one that describes the second bedroom.

They all show pictures of the family room and the master bedroom but not the second  BR.  I have heard it is quite small with a twin size bed and no window.

Because it cost me a lot and I will be sleeping in that room I would really like to know about it.  Any info you can give me will be very appreciated. Thanks.

I was in room 17716 on the Encore 02/10/20 Cruise. The second bedroom is quite small, a sofa makes into a double bed. The room steward set up the bed the first day and made it up each day without putting it back as a sofa. This room has a bath with shower.

Just to let you know, the balcony on this room extends past the master bathroom. The bathroom has a pull down sun shade over the bath tub and in the shower room. However; this does not provide privacy. If the light is on in the bathroom after dark, even with the shades pulled, anyone on the balcony can see right in. We were docked next to another ship in San Juan, not leaving until midnight. If you took a shower, you were giving a peep show to passengers on the other ship.

I have to ask you a question about your Two Bedroom Haven Family Villa.  I am booked in one on the Encore in May.  I have been told the Two Bedrooms on deck 17 have the larger balcony.  Where on deck 18 have the smaller balcony.  My suite is literally right next to the Haven Restaurant on Deck 18 currently.  Your thoughts?

I believe the balcony on deck 17 is larger than those on deck 18. On the two bedroom balcony on 17, the balcony extends past the master bathroom. The master tub and master shower are each on the outside of the stateroom facing the balcony. The tub and shower each have a pull down shade; however they only provide partial privacy. If you are in the bathroom at night with the lights on, anyone on the balcony can see in both the tub and shower. Hard to believe!

We were on the Encore 01/12/20 in Haven Suite 17716, a two bedroom near the pool. The Haven experience was near perfect. The menu in the dining room did not change, but food was excellent. The observation lounge was seldom used. I think it would be much better if the bar was located there, rather than where it is.

The pool water was very cold that week and no one seemed to get in the Haven pool. The 2 hot tubs on deck 19 were nice, but a long distance to the bar area on deck 17. Waiters would bring a drink, but it might take 20 minutes. We were in San Juan till midnight and I got a little miffed when they closed the hot tubs at 10.

All in all, the Haven is a great place to spend your cruise time. Whether it is worth the cost is subjective. I will definitely do it again.

I've got all the paperwork. Total bid was $200 for the room. I even have the acknowledgement from NCL.

The other party was Gregory & Ester W..... from Chattanooga. Bank was kind enough to provide me with a copy of their cruise confirmation.

Update on the above, The confirmation I have for Gregory & Ester even shows my credit card number applied for their final $200 payment. No one at NCL will take any responsibility for their mistake. I have completed an online request with customer service and automated response says they will be back with me in 4-6 weeks.

I have contacted Bank America and placed a fraud claim with them. Had to cancel my credit card with a new one to be issued. This was our 30th cruise, second with NCL.

I will follow up when I get a final resolution.

My bank was able to get the booking information for the other party, name reservation number, home address. My bank told me that NCL states that I authorized my card to be used for the other couple. I have been unable to speak with anyone in Customer Service at NCL who has authority to look into this.

  19. Thanks to a great customer Rep named Phil, I was finally able to get all of my problems with Celebrity corrected. It took about 45 minutes, but Phil kept pulling up different booking confirmations, all of which were different, until he got everything straightened out. Thanks so much Phil.

Thanks to all who gave me phone numbers and emails to contact.

  20. Our cruise was changed to a 9 day out of Ft Lauderdale going to Eastern Caribbean ports I have been to many times. Not quite Barbados and St Lucia.

No we were not given a choice, we were not even told about the change. Glad I haven't booked a flight to San Juan.

  21. Am I the only one having problems with Celebrity?

Onboard the Silhouette in Feb 2015 I booked a cruise for 02/18/2017 on the Summit out of San Juan going to Barbados and St. Lucia. Do to the Summit being chartered before and after this cruise, my cruise was changed to a 9 day out of Ft. Lauderdale. I understand the change, after all money rules. My issue is that Celebrity never contacted me in any way to let me know of the change.

    No excuse for this.

After this occurred, I have been unable to access my reservation online. The website shows that I have no active reservation. I have called customer service numerous times to get this corrected. They are always very apologetic and say they will get it corrected, but nothing ever happens.

Last Friday was the final date for payment, I called Customer Service and paid the cruise balance in full. Celebrity then emailed a booking confirmation showing a balance of $100 still due. This time I called the number for Captains Club members. I spoke with a very nice rep there and was told she would check into my problems and call me back that evening. Six days later, no phone call and nothing has been corrected.

I sent and email to Celebrity telling them of my issues and that this will be my last cruise with Celebrity until they get there problems resolved. No response to that either.

  22. My sister, BIL and I will be on the Anthem in adjoining cabins. The Royal rep who helped me book this suggested we "might" be able to have the balcony dividers opened. Does anyone know if this is possible?
    r

The dividers do open. My son and his family had the room next to us on the 02/06 cruise. We had the steward open the divider the first day. By the way, if you get caught in hurricane force winds, they make a hell of a racket if they come loose!!!
