  1. For our upcoming cruise we originally thought we would try an Inside Guarantee and were 'upgraded' to an Inside sideways quad. The only way to get it changed was to cancel the booking and lose the deposit. I will never again book an Inside guarantee as I now realize the Quads are the last to go and Princess relegates them to guarantees. Similarly, on Grand Class ships, Obstructed Oceanview are likely to be upgraded to those midship rooms that truly are fully obstructed by tenders but are rated a higher category by Princess, so in that situation I always choose a room and specify 'no upgrade' and would never take an ObstructedOV guarantee.

What is an inside sideways quad?

  2. We are 9 days our from our sailing on the Crown and haven't been assigned our stateroom yet. We booked an IC category. They way I look at it the longer they take to assign the greater chance of upgrade. Thoughts? This is the first time in an interior...price was right!

  3. Well, we have been back from our wonderful cruise for a few weeks now, and thought I would let any who was interested know how our disembarkation day went:

Walked off the ship at 7 am (carried our own luggage off)

Shuttle to the port entrance bus, the. To train and got on the 7:58 am train to Rome.

Dropped off our luggage at hotel, which was about 1 km from termini, then took the metro to the Vatican. Got to the Vatican at 10:40 am....thank goodness for rebooked tickets! I believe it would have been a 2 hour wait...and it was hot!

After touring Vatican Museums, Sistine chapel and St Peters Basilica, we went to see Spanish Steps, Pantheon and Trevi Fountain under construction.

It was a long day, but thoroughly enjoyable.

  4. Our ship is scheduled to arrive at 5 am. We are staying for just one night after disembarkation, and would like to tour the Vatican on that day. We have a hotel booked near the Train station (Termini). So, we have two options: is there a spot at the Vatican to check luggage, or do we take the train to the termini, check our luggage at hotel, and then go back to the Vatican for the tour.

    Again, thanks in advance

  5. We plan to tour the Vatican on our own on disembarkation day. Would someone be able to tell us if we could be at the Vatican by , say 10 or 11 am? We would like to take the train, but I am open to your suggestions if private transportation would be a better option. I am wanting to purchase tickets on the Vatican website, and the tickets are available by the hour.

    Thanks

  6. We were on the same cruise, and, as well, first time on Celebrity. This cruise was booked as a last minute getaway, and was hoping that we would enjoy some sun and relaxation.

I totally agree with writer100...the college crowd were the most rude, obnoxious and loudest group we have ever encountered. It was difficult to get served at the bars, the staff were trying their best. One time I went to get a drink and caught the eye of the bartender, he served me right away and was given a lot of grief from the spring breakers. (Believe me, they had been served many times over by him!)

We got a laugh with the "lame"announcements of respecting the dress code and respecting others, but I am sure the kids were still sleeping when they were made.

Not once did I see a staff member ask a barefoot bikini clad student to leave the ocean view cafe, or ask them not to drink their beer in the hot tubs (which were not available for use, since they were full of students all afternoon).

I have 3 college aged children, and I know that they are entitled to their fun, as we all are, but not at the cost of others. We have travelled with our children, and hopefully taught them well. There was zero respect.

We are booked on a Mediterranean cruise in June, and hopefully, we will enjoy what Celebrity has to offer.

We ate in the dining room every night, food was good, nothing spectacular, but good. The ship was beautiful, very clean, and service was OK.

  7. We were in 10729 (B1)..last boardwalk balcony starboard side. Would definitely book this stateroom again. Noise was only an issue on Saturday morning debarkation..when they had CNN blasting on big screen TV's at 6:00 in the morning...I did not need to be woken up that early on the last morning!!!! The bed was by the bathroom, enough room to access the closet. Greatviews of the aqua theatre, the ocean, and the boardwalk. Loved it.
