  1. We were in #1243 for our Norwegian cruise in 2018. It was on the slant and had a larger balcony. If you look at the deck plan for the Silhouette, you will see that #1249 is three cabins down from #1243 and on the slant so I assume the balcony will be larger. Perhaps someone who has stayed in the cabin will confirm.

One thing to keep in mind with #1249, it looks to be a connecting cabin to #1247. There is a chance you'll hear noise from next door.

  2. I have 6144 booked on a future cruise on the Millennium and noticed a few aft C1s on deck 7 are available on that cruise. Having quiet time on our balcony is a big part of our cruising experience. We also prefer shade to sun so having a covered balcony is important to us. We were in 6144 on the Millennium on a recent cruise and discovered there's no canvas covering the balcony like there is on the Summit.

After doing some CC searches I've read that the deck 7 C1 aft cabins on the M class ships have deep balconies, and are mostly covered. So I'm leaning towards switching to one of these but I have a few questions and looking to get advice and info from the experts here on CC.

For those of you who have sailed in these cabins recently, did you experience any noise from other decks?  I've read that people in the Aqua aft cabins on deck 11 could hear the movie playing loudly and some were impacted by that. Does anyone know if the noise extends to deck 7?

Also, what type of furniture is on the balcony since the renovation?  I'm assuming it is the new deck chairs, but no footstool and no loungers. Is that correct?

I know cabin location preference is a personal choice, but I would very much appreciate hearing others' input and opinions.

    Thanks so much!

  3. Really enjoying your pictures and updates - thanks so much for sharing!!

We'll be on the Millennium for the March 2 cruise. There's discussion on the roll call about when the Muster Drill occurs since we board the ship on the Saturday but we don't sail until Sunday evening. Did you have an overnight in port the first night?  If so, can you let us know if your Muster Drill occurred the first night or the night the ship sailed?

  4. We had a cabin on Deck 11 last year on our cruise to Bermuda. I loved the overhang because it provided a lot of shade. My husband didn't like it as much because he felt the overhang encroached on his view a bit especially when taking pictures from our balcony. We didn't have a noise problem from above or the outdoor lounge. I'd go for the same cabin again in a future cruise. My husband would be okay with it but would prefer lower in the ship if he had a choice.  :classic_wink:

  5. I just logged into my Celebrity account and looked at the reservations I have for two upcoming cruises. One is for a cruise in 60 days and one is for a cruise in 2019. In both reservations there is a link I can click to add gratuities. You might want to take a look under 'Manager Your Reservation,' in your Celebrity account.

    Hope this helps!

  6. I just went through and checked the excursions for my cruise in June. As the email said, only some excursions are reduced. Unfortunately, the vast majority of those that have the yellow "up to 20% off" banner on them are the same price as they were a couple of months ago. I was only able to find a couple ($100+) excursions are now $5 lower in price. I hope others have better luck with their cruises!

I found the same thing. The "up to 20% off" sale price is the exact same price the excursions were before the sale started. This has me wondering whether the prices for the excursions will go up after the sale is over. I hope not since I'm not ready to book all my excursions now.

Not sure how Celebrity can get away with calling something a sale price when its clearly not.

  7. Encouraging news that I am pleased and relieved to hear! Thanks to you both for the feedback. I can now spend the next few months planning out our excursions and looking forward to the sailing rather than fretting about making the wrong choice.

    Thank you

  8. My husband and I are taking a 12 day Baltic cruise in May on the Zuiderdam to celebrate a significant birthday. We booked an aft cabin on deck 5, but after doing a few searches, we're now concerned we may have made a mistake with that cabin choice given the reported plumbing issues. We are hoping these are old issues that have since been resolved.

Does anyone who recently sailed her know if the Zuiderdam continues to have plumbing problems with the aft cabins? We're splurging on this cruise and don't want to spoil our special celebration with a smelly bathroom or non-working plumbing.

Thanks in advance for your feedback.

  9. Thanks for your reply, kenish. I appreciate your feedback. Its unfortunate for us that this happens often. At least my case is not an isolated one.

We did tell JetBlue that the flight they put us on wouldn't work. They said that was the best they could do and, given the circumstances with the weather and cancellations, we had up until the day of the flight to cancel and get a full refund. We called them as soon as we got home to cancel (two days before the rescheduled flight) and were told again we'd get a refund and to use the reservation # as our cancellation number. We naively thought we'd see the refund soon after and didn't think it needed to go back through Choice Air.

I'll stay on Choice Air as you suggest. I hope to give a positive update to this post sometime soon.

    Thanks!

  10. Hi,

I am wondering what others have experienced. On our return trip back home, we got caught up in the massive JetBlue cancellations that occurred due to bad weather the beginning of Jan. Our flight from FLL to east coast was canceled. Unfortunately JetBlue booked us on a flight 3 days later than we needed to be back home so we ended up taking a flight out of a different airport on a different airline. As promised, JetBlue issued a refund however, because we booked our flights through ChoiceAir, JetBlue issued the refund to them. 4 weeks later we still have not seen the refund.

Has anyone had a similar experience where the airline issued a refund right away, but 4 weeks later you still haven't seen it show up on your credit card? I've called JetBlue who said they issued the refund to the 'travel agent' and I needed to call them. I called ChoiceAir and they said they have not seen the refund yet but will keep an eye out for it. They said it could take 8 to 10 weeks for the refund to come through. Is this standard?

I tried searching the forum to see if the answer is among the previous ChoiceAir threads but did not have any luck.

    Thanks

  11. My Husband and I just got back from the Thanksgiving cruise on the Summit. We were in SS 6146 and really enjoyed it. We did hear some noise from the Penthouse suite next door but it wasn't too bothersome at all. We heard someone playing around on the the piano (Chopsticks mostly) the first couple of days, and also heard one or two of the kids having a temper tantrum when it was time for bed but that didn't last long.

Since we read the boards prior to our trip, we were prepared. One thing we were not prepared for was the ceiling of the suite creaking throughout the night one night - but this was only when the seas were very rough. We were told by our butler that engineering can come into the suite and make adjustments to the ceiling screws if necessary.

Our butler, Keith, was wonderful. Very attentive and willing to do anything we requested. The balcony and bathroom were huge. Loved the double sinks and extra space.

We're glad we experienced the suite but not sure we'd do it again. My husband is very sensitive to the ship's movement and we found, as expected, noticeably more movement than mid ship cabins.

Enjoy! You'll love the suite and the great service you'll receive.
