Or someone is lying to you.  Or something is very wrong with the people managing the "system".  Bottom line, refunds should not take this long if they are working with paper and pencil.

100% agree with you.  As a business woman whose worked in many areas of business accounting.  This is BAD business at it's worst.

  2. :loudcry:We sailed NCL one time, The cruise from HELL enough said.

I second that. We went on the Getaway last year. Never again. It didn't even feel like a cruise ship to us. it felt crowded and smokey when you walk through the main area. Hallways super narrow, food was no where near as good as Carnival and other cruise lines.

  3. Definitely go with Carnival. They call it the Funship for good reason. NCL is more a la carte. We had to pay extra for the good shows, paid to bowl, out of 19 restaurants in the NCL Epic, most you had to pay extra. Lastly not as ma Bhai y activities. I am 50 and have been in 11 cruises and I keep going back to Carnival. Carnival never disappoints and is all inclusive for most part. Had a good time in NCL but always have a great time in Carnival.

I could not agree more. We have been on both NCL Getaway and the Carnival Conquest. The NCL cruise was by far the most expensive cruise we have been on so far (10). It was the least enjoyable. The ship layout was not ideal and the nickel and diming was insane. We loved the Conquest, the layout, food, fun and entertainment and spent WAY less money.

  4. Definitely Carnival isn't on this level; not even really close. But the price difference is staggering. Norwegian Bliss 7 nights, spa balcony (trying to compare apples to apples) same itinerary, $3,299 all in; Carnival Splendor spa balcony $2,044 all in - how can I justify the $1,000 difference? I can't. Even a couple hundred dollar difference I'd have looked twice. But not for a grand. :(

I cannot agree more with you on this. We did NCL Getaway last year and it by far was well over $3K base price, and we liked the ship the very least of any we have been on so far. For us, the next cruise will be Carnival. We've cruised Princess, Celebrity and Royal as well, and would sail with them again, but not NCL anytime soon, cannot justify the cost.

  5. I believe they usually drain them each night and refill them with fresh (salt/sea) water. Which is why they are always so frigidly COLD! The pools at least, and the hot tubs usually are not up to the usual 104 degrees.

Thanks for your fast response. That makes sense.

  6. We have been on 8 cruises and love the pools and jacuzzi's. I tell everyone I know how much I love to cruise. I was asked by a co-worker interested in cruising how often they clean the P & J's. honestly I don't think about it and don't notice when they're cleaned. They just always seem clean every morning. Do they do it overnight?

  7. oh boy.. Thanks for the clarification Pam. I set sail on the 13th. but I'm leaving Wednesday morning for a 5 night event on Catalina island and I'm not sure I have enough time to cancel with princess and get something arranged with PT or SS BUT I'll tell you what I wont hesitate next time to bypass princess transfers.. I'm still looking forward to my cruise and I'll go with the flow... Thanks again!

  8. We use transfers from port to airport in San Fran. We put our luggage in the hall the night before. Then the next mornig, once our group went off the ship we went to a terminal where shuttles were lined up. You grabbed your luggage (they are gouped together by group) and then we rolled it to our shuttle (large bus). The driver put it in the bottom and on the shuttle we went. When you get to the airport they take it back out - and your off. There were a few ships in port that day, and the taxi line was long, so we were gratful for the shuttle.

If this is what happens upon disembarkment from port of LA to LAX I would feel better about the extra cost for using Princess Transfers. But perhaps it may vary by port.
