  1. I'm sure this thread will get more people to read the story. I read it all last night, and posted the turtle video and a link to the thread on Facebook.

It really is a cool story, starts off so simple and then just gets more and more interesting. I love the ending of the anchor recovery and now the photos of that wonderful event have been saved and can be seen by everyone involved with this.

  2. What a cool story!! I just love the turtle video, that's one confused and determined turtle!

And the story just got better and better, with the anchor and the memorial. I'm so glad that the pictures got found and could be added to the background of the story of this anchor and how it was restored and is now a memorial.

Good work by all involved, especially you Paul. I'm glad this ended so well!

I too "lost" a camera on vacation. I left it in a lounge on a ship, second to the last day. Went back 20 minutes later and gone! No one turned it in. All my vacation photos gone. I was bummed. Cheap camera to replace, but I'm still upset I don't have any vacation photos of that cruise.

  3. We did decide to make the best of it, and the open market was nice. We were harrassed constantly on the beach. Seems like if Carnival is making you pay to go to this beach they coulda offered some kinda security to keep them from bugging you. To add insult to the already disapointing situation, this was an opne public beach@!!!$^* We coulda just walked out there for FREE like other people form our ship. They were even giving free drinks to people off the street, so I guess we paid for their booze too with our rip off excursion fee.

I can't believe how ignorant some people are...ALL beaches in Mexico are open public beach@!!!$^es. Carnival has no power to make a beach "private" there. Yes, you should do your research before you go.

My husband and I had the best time sitting on the beach in front of one of the restaurants there. We had a great waiter bringing us out whatever we wanted all day. Yes, there were a lot of vendors, I kinda compared it to sitting on the beach and being at the mall at the same time. I did buy a very cheap bead necklace, still wear it.

  4. If i wanted to see the REAL MEXICO I would have gone to Tiujuana. That place is heavan compared to Progreso

    ROTFLOL!!!!!

This one is gonna give me chuckles for years to come!! Hope I remember this next time I'm having a bad day!

I've been to both, along with many other parts of Mexico, and other than Majahual, and Playa del Carmen (15 years ago), this is one of our favorite areas of Mexico.

I can understand why some folks don't like it though, but DH and I really like areas that aren't "Americanized".
