  1. My partner & I did the SDI TA Malaga to Barbados last Oct for our 1st SD experience, it was fabulous. We're booked on SDII this year and soooo looking forward to it. The rooms are small but the experience outweighs any tiny bathroom, I agree the shower is a nice size. The yacht is your balcony.

We also came from doing large suites on big ships and were very disappointed, that's how we found Seadream. Our very 1st cruise was Seabourn back in the mid 90's and we tried to get the same experience but traveling with lots of family they wanted larger ships hence we booked larger and larger suites but still, yuk.

Luckily I don't get seasick but my partner does in rougher weather. You certainly feel the ocean but I absolutely love it, you really know you're sailing, it's what you miss on the large ships. Patches work really well for him, we also gave some to our next door neighbors, since they didn't bring motion sickness medication with them.

Try it, you'll love it !

  2. Hi,

I've been lurking a little bit on the SeaDream threads and have found this thread interesting. My partner & I traveled on Seabourn back in the mid 90's when they owned the Seadream yachts. Since then we have traveled on many different cruise lines in suites, no other cruise line has come close to that experience regardless of the size of your suite. We are on our first SeaDream Yacht Club sailing (I just can't say cruise) on the October TA and are so looking forward to the true experience that big ships can't offer and I'm really happy to hear that the guests are still very diverse and accepting. WB57 I think this will be a much more personal experience and it will be better for a solo sailor, you actually get to know some of your fellow guests. That's why we are back to true boutique sailings.

To DupontCruiser2, I'll look forward to meeting you onboard. Also maybe WB57 ? I like my martinis straight up with a twist ! I think we're going to love SeaDream and the Topside bar.

Nice to hear they skirt the rough weather but we love the motion of the ocean.

  3. Now if they just had some handicapped minis on the Grand ships, I'd be a happy cruiser. We like the mini space, but having to get into the tub for a shower is nigh impossible.

    Nancy,

If you're ever looking at the Sapphire get D737. I've had this mini several times and it's wonderful. If you leave the bathroom door open while you shower in your large walk in shower you can look out over the ocean. I've even seen a whale breach while showering. The additional balcony and wake view off the back. What more could you ask for? It says on the website twin only but the cabin attendant will turn it into a queen if you ask.

  4. I had E732 last Thanksgiving cruise. You'll LOVE it. Some say the wake noise is a little loud but we loved it and loved listening to it. Our sliders were always open, you really know you're on a ship. One of our best memories was sailing out of Honolulu lying on the loungers in our robes sipping champagne, the lights of Honolulu were absolutely beautiful. Also it's very private being the last door on the left. One other thing being on Emerald deck was so well located it always seemed easy to get everywhere even though you were last door on the left. We loved the spa tub too. Don't forget to at least try the Thermal Suite it's wonderful.

  5. Thanks for the images. I'm getting more excited now that you've said that the vibration is no more than regular rear facing suites and you're enjoying the room and cruise. Enjoy those martinis. I like mine Grey Goose straight up with a twist.

  6. Great job with the layout drawing. What were they thinking putting that wall in the middle of the room! They could have made it a little smaller turned it 90 degrees and then used the whole space and the living area would look out of the side glass doors. I think that the door to the bathroom should have been in the entrance area then you would have a whole nice feature wall and easy for furniture placement. Oh well, I'll still enjoy and love it on my Panama Canal cruise.

  7. Am I seeing some kind of optical illusion? Look at the picture again of the stern Lido deck. There is 5 suites. We have L721 booked for our upcoming Med cruise. Count the cabins left to right, the last being 721 it looks like it is half the size of 722 on the aft portion.

I was thinking the same thing but I think that is an optical illusion. I'm sure you'll have a wonderful cruise and enjoy the suite. I would love to see some images of the inside, if you can I'd appreciate it.

  8. Well while my observation of the remodel will not interfere or lessen my enjoyment of my Penthouse suite on Lido I must say without a doubt that is one of the ugliest sterns I have ever seen. It just seems to me in 2015 that nautical engineers could have came up with a more pleasing to the eye rear end:cool:(

I totally agree. I think the designer/engineer should choose a new career! Butt ugly. Sorry couldn't help myself. I could have done better. My disappointment is that there is no wrap around balcony on Lido deck as per the deck plans, that's why I chose that suite. I'll still enjoy the two balconies and I'm sure the inside of the suite will be very nice and looks quite large. I can't wait to see images / layout of the suites.

  9. For me the solution is somewhat different. Simply blacklist the Princess ships that do not meet my standards and stick to the ships I like.

Right now Island Princess has been blacklisted for life.

I still have the Diamond Princess, Sapphire Princess, Golden Princess, Coral Princess, Star Princess.

I feel some day in the future I too will be finding another cruise line and it may be Celebrity. I may even try high end luxury lines. Until such time that my favourite ships in the Princess fleet are either destroyed like Island Princess or put out of service I will stick with them.

I'm sure you'll do what's best for you. While doing all this blacklisting just remember the point is to enjoy cruising.

  10. \

OMG Can you say DRACONIAN CHANGES one more time????

I for one am excited about my 2016 cruise on the Island as I was able to book one of the new Aft corner Lido Suites!!! The size and shape look spectacular and cant wait to sail through the canal on her in my comfy big suite.

I booked because of the new aft suites as well. L721 in fact with my mother-in-law next door in the vista suite. Might be the same cruise. Maybe we can meet up for a martini on our draconian wrap around balconies.

Brisbane41. How many times have you sailed on the Island? Just curious.

  11. I'm totally confused.

First you tell us that: "Whenever there is live music being played in the nightclub, it is so loud you can hear the lyrics in the suite. The pounding music and drums shake the cabin. There was no way the 3 of us could sleep through the loud sounds, even with earplugs, until after midnight when the band would usually stop."

Then you tell us: "I could not just stay up and watch a movie until midnight because there were 2 others in the cabin who were able to sleep through the noise from Club Fusion but not from a TV in the cabin."

First, it's "pounding music and drums" shaking the cabin and the three of you could not sleep "even with earplugs".

Then, you tell us that the other women in the cabin: "were able to sleep through the noise from" the club but couldn't sleep with a TV playing.

If they could sleep through the pounding music shaking the cabin but couldn't sleep with the tv playing, how loud did you have the TV?

    I'm confused too?

  12. The only people who say e cigs are OK and safe are tobacco companies and the smokers. People just don't get it. If you are getting nicotine when inhaling what is coming out when exhaling in all that vapor? Where does it just disappear to?

Real unbiased research shows many toxins coming from them. My partner is asthmatic and has had issues when they are smoked close by just like regular cigarettes. They are just as dangerous.

What amazes me is that they have been advertised as a way to quite smoking or I've seen advertising to take back your right to smoke but people are smoking them now for years and they haven't given up smoking or just don't care about affecting others health. Hmmmm go figure.

  13. I've not sailed on the Island yet but I am in Feb 2016. I think they could have kept the lower level of the UL and just got rid of the upper level with the bad sight lines into the extra cabins. Wouldn't that be just like the Vista Lounge on the Star? They could have done ocean view cabins and left out the 2 strange looking suites to keep the promenade. These seem to be the biggest issue with people here on CC. This way they would still add rooms, maybe not as many, but wouldn't have lost so much public space.

  14. OK so don't kill me.

I booked L721 for a Panama Canal 15 days in Feb 16. I have never sailed on the Island so I figure that if I don't like the reviews after the changes I can always cancel. I also think they could have achieved what they wanted without loosing so many popular venues and places.

Does anyone know where I can find out what the layouts of the new suites will be?

  15. Got an email from Princess he will be on my cruise next week Nov 24 Hawaii out of San Francisco. Great to see that we'll have a great Cruise Director and with such a following. I must try to meet him and let him know he's loved by many.

  16. We just sailed the Regal 3 night and were in D122, one of the forward suites on Dolphin deck. It was a beautiful and very large suite.

I'm sorry, but I didn't take any pictures, but I'll try to describe it. You walk into the living area, which is about the size of most Princess suite living room areas. The bathroom is split, as is also typical in Princess suites. One section of the bathroom has a sink and toilet, while the other part has a sink, bathtub, and large shower. There is a door between the two areas.

The bedroom is huge! There is a large forward facing window in front of the bed, complete with a very heavy window treatment to block out the sun. There is a tremendous amount of storage space and a desk/ make-up area. There is a sloping wall at the front, but the room is so large that you won't be negatively impacted.

The negatives? The balcony is long, but very narrow. We really missed a wider balcony, since we spend a lot of time on it. Also, the there was an intermittent creaking sound from the front window, which awakened me off and on all night. I'm a light sleeper, so it might not bother others, but it had a big impact on my sleep.

Overall, we thought the room was lovely.

    Enjoy your suite!

Can you access the toilet separately from the living room and bedroom like Grand class vista suites?

  17. OK, this thread interests me.

I have apartments that I rent out to a corporations doing executive relocation. I am very particular about pillows, sheet, blankets and anything that touches ones body. After each stay when the cleaners arrive we go over mattresses and pads, any badly stained or flat iffy pillows get tossed and the others get washed, I have a special cycle for that on my machine and works wonders. My partner says I overdo it, I say not. I do however get compliments on the cleanliness of the apartments when guests arrive.

I understand that they can't go to this level but just ask to double up on the pillow cases or new pillows if they're particularly unpleasant. Can't do much about the headboards.

After reading this I now know I'm on the right track and I'm going to make him read this thread.
