OP, On that cruise, did you use your fla t iron sucessfully prior to the hair burn incident ? If it worked fine prior, that might give a clue as to how you had the unhappy experience.

This was a different flat iron. The one I used before was the type where you could adjust the level of heat (just like a curling iron). I always kept the heat level more to the lower side. Maybe that ability caused it to overheat.

I'm just glad this one seems to work🙂

I'm leaving on the same cruise on 3/23. What dining room was anytime dining?

We were on the Grand Princess for the Mexican Riviera cruise from 2/6 thru 2/16. The anytime dining was in the Michaelangelo dining room.

Just used the California Welcome Center to check our luggage after a 10-day cruise. Such a relief to know we could check them since our flight home didn't leave until 5pm. We were able to enjoy Pier 39 until we left for the airport!

For those of you who cared about my flat iron burning my hair -- used it on my 10-day Princess cruise and all went well. 🙂

I’m wondering if anyone else has had this experience with their flat iron on a cruise. Two years ago we cruised on RC Freedom of the Seas. I was using my flat iron and it burned my hair! No hint it was overheating or anything. We will be cruising next month on Princess and I’m paranoid about using my flat iron. I’ve replaced the one from the prior cruise but I’m still leery. Would a surge protector help?
