  1. Can anyone that has stayed in Ph-1 on Ecstacy answer these questions please

1- Does the King Size Bed come apart like all the other beds on the ship to make 2 singles?

2- Is the balcony private? I have seen pics and it looks like it is, but the pictures only cover certain angles and some threads mention that it is not private ( but they are old threads) .

3- Are there any special perks ( besides the obvious accommodations) that come with this room?

    Thank you

    It's the best cabin ever!

    1. Sorry, not sure. We used it as a king, but it seems to make sense that it was really two twins.

    2. The balcony is private in the sense that only PH-1 has access to it, but it is in view of much of the Lido. It's great that you don't have to hunt for chairs on the Lido, yet you're still part of the fun.

    3. As far as we were aware there were just the regular suite perks. My favorite suites at sea are in The Haven on NCL, but this is the best suite I've seen on Carnival.

  2. Good morning. We got our walking papers this morning. Zone 10 with a flight to our home in Orlando. If you have been following my posts, our intention was to only be flown to San Juan and then stay in a hotel until we can take our original flight back home on the 13th. Guest services said they would cover the hotel expense. Because our flight plans were not what we requested on our form, we went to the Victoria lounge to speak to a Carnival Care specialist to fix our flights. While on hold with the Miami office, the Carnival Care specialist was pulled aside and told that we have received coast guard clearance and will be sailing to San Juan either tonight or early tomorrow. Guests will then be able to stay on the ship until the 13th. I was just informed by the Carnival Care specialist that clearance was granted yesterday, but the coast guard retracted it. However, she was not able to say way it was retracted. Most of the evening last night, we had fuel trucks next to the ship. The letter we received this morning also stated that our air fare will be refunded. So we have received a free cruise, 50% off another cruise, refunded gratuities and pre paid shore excursions and refunded air fare. If anything changes, I will post an update.

That's great that they're covering your airfare. Are they letting guests off the ship for excursions today? I hope all goes well with this latest plan and you can enjoy the rest of your cruise. Thanks so much for keeping us updated.

  3. Zones 8 and 9 are being called. I am going to actually get off the ship and explore St Thomas. We did not do anything the day of the fire and yesterday we stayed on the ship to find out if we were going to continue the cruise as scheduled. As I leave the ship, I am going to try to speak to passengers leaving today to find out if they are being flown to San Juan and being put in hotels until their normally scheduled flight happens, or if Carnival is scheduling flights to their home towns from San Juan today.

    Thanks so much! Have fun!

  4. Everyone flying out today is flying to San Juan. No word on flights tomorrow and Friday.

if I had to guess, I suspect Carnival is flying everyone to San Juan in time to join their planned flights home on Sunday. That's a short flight and much easier to coordinate than getting people back to the US mainland.

True, but Carnival said the guests were "being flown home from St. Thomas". The way I read it seemed to imply that they were flying them home, not to San Juan. I thought maybe they'd fly them to Miami and then on to their final destination. Seems like they should provide some type of lodging credit if they are making them wait 4-5 days to catch their original flights home. Considering it's already almost 2:00pm and they haven't left the ship yet that there options for actually getting a connecting flight in San Juan tonight might be slim.

  5. No, guests will disembark based on when their flight is scheduled.

Thank you so much for all the factual updates. They are very much appreciated.

We are just wondering how things are on the ship? Are they letting passengers off for the day to explore St. Thomas? Is all food service still operating like usual? Are all other amenities/services being offered - spa, pool, casino, camp carnival, shops, shows?

Hope you are still enjoying your vacation. Thanks again.

  6. I feel sorry for all the people who planned a 7-10 day vacation and only ended up getting a long weekend. I wonder why Carnival won't let them stay until Sunday. Getting a full refund is a nice start but it can't make up for the lost vacation days. I hope the passengers were given a choice of when to go home.

  7. We've been cruising with our son since he was 11 months. When we was that age I'd pack each outfit in a gallon zip lock and label it with the occasion and day of the week so all I had to do was pull a baggie outfit out and worry about finding the matching shirt, shoes, socks as we were rushing to get ready.

Here's other things I used to bring:

    1. Wipes

    2. Diapers

    3. Blue painter tape for marking off his play area and also for making a line that he couldn't go past on the balcony.

    4. Door alarm x 2

    5. Every child medication that he might ever need

    6. Juice, snacks, milk to keep in our cabin

    7. A special snack to keep him quiet and still during the muster

    8. Disposable high chair or table covers

    9. A stroller with a tray

    10. Car seat

  8. We are cruising in 2.5 weeks and our friends are thinking of joining us. We always book far in advance and have no experience with last minute bookings. So, we're just wondering if the prices might come down any more between now and then. They need a cabin for three and would take any cabin type from a suite to an inside if they had to. As of today they'd have their choice of any category and it looks like there are at least 40 cabins that would work. So should they go ahead and book now or wait it out and see if the prices drop? Any experience with booking at the last minute would be helpful. How many days in advance will Carnival close the bookings?

They are looking at casino rates if that makes any difference.

  9. OP- Can you let us know how it went? We're cruising in two weeks. Are the hours the same? Where are they holding most of the activities? I booked a cabin close to the kids club for the convenience factor so I might see if I can change our cabin closer to where the activities will be held.

  10. Bet big. We were told on our last cruise that you need to be $25 per hand on blackjack. DH has a good night on the craps table on the first night and we drank free in the casino the rest of the cruise. He probably had $120 on the table for most the the night.

  11. I contacted OPC before my last cruise on HAL. They said I would receive a gift and $50 cage cash. Prior to that I joined the OPC through Carnival and have received gifts, cash and free drinks. I forgot to bring the email with me so I never inquired about the comp cash. Eventually the casino host found me by looking at my points while I was playing the slots. He gave me drinks, shirts, bags and wine and offered dinner at the steak house AND an actual card for the OPC. He said next time I cruise Princess, HAL or Carnival to call them ahead and let them know I would be sailing.

My next cruise is on Princess which will be my first Princess cruise. Has anyone else received benefits between Carnival, Princess and HAL? It look like the OPC card is good for all of those lines.
