  1. Not a big fan of the Mega ships. We love the Jewel class on NCL. Less drunks, less pushing and shoving in the buffet. And just as much bread and butter in the MDR.

And there is no one so rude as those who stand in the middle of the buffet area with their hands on their hips with both elbows sticking out while they are trying to make up their minds as to what they want to eat!

  2. The Library on POA?

Can anyone tell me about the Library? Do they have a large selection of books? Do they use the "Honor check-out" system or do you sign books out? Do they have a book swap section where you can leave a book you brought on board and take one that someone else left?

    Thanks in advance.

    I'm an avid reader!

  3. I have had a Capital One CC for about 8 years. My present card doesn't expire until Dec. 2017. So I called customer service and explained that I was going to Europe in 2 months and I wanted a new card (same old number) issued to me with a chip. I was told that they don't issue new cards merely because a customers request it. They will issue a new card at the expiration date! I explained I wanted a chip for safety and ease of use. No Dice!

    THIS IS CUSTOMER SERVICE???

  4. "Your experience is your experience, but being offered an upsell or a downsell after having booked a specific cabin on the ship is NOT the same as buying a Guarantee in the first place.

I wish that people would not muddle the waters by discussing them interchangeably." STANANDJIM

We booked on Marina in an F category GTY for a Baltic cruise in 2012 and were not assigned a cabin until we showed up at the port. We were told by the luggage handlers that we were in an A4 Conceirge Veranda! The best gamble we ever made and we now book GTY every time!

  5. there is no difference between cat F or G except in location and price...the cheaper cat is more central...but both are inside...so now I have a guarantee, so the worst I can do it get back the inside I gave up....

    .

We booked a G category guarantee on a Marina Baltic cruise about 6 months in advance of sailing. We would have been happy in that category because we got it at a good price. We did not get a cabin assignment before we flew in two days early. On embarkation day we were assigned an A2 Veranda stateroom with all the extra privliges included!!! It was a gamble that paid off!!:)

The pills on the ship were the generic form of both Bonine and the non drowsy Dramamine II. It is called Meclazine.

You can buy it from any pharmacy here in the USA. It is usually on the shelf right next to the Bonine and Dramamine II since it is the same thing but less expensive.

In our area in California the Meclazine is not on the shelf next to the Dramamine. For some reason it is kept behind the counter and you have to ask for it. It works great for my husband and only costs $6.00 per 100 pills. Try it and enjoy your cruise with no drowsiness.

  7. We did a 10 nght Duoro River cruise in Portugal, then flew to Venice and did a 10 night Azamarra Med Cruise. We did arrive one day ahead in Venice and spent the night in a small hotel. As soon as we set foot on the ship we stuffed a laundry bag full and got everything back in two days.

If we do that miserable flight to Europe we want to stay as long as possible.

  8. I am looking forward to the large amount of free Internet minutes Azamara's plan affords me.

The free laundry! You only need to pack half the amount of clothes because you send everything to the laundry in a bag. It comes back folded and ironed and on hangers. It's wonderful!:)

  9. [ Were there any discernible differences between the cruisers onboard Oceania vs. those you've met on ACC, or was it a similar demographic with comparable values?

We have been on Oceania twice, once on the old R-ship and last on the new Marina. Our second Azamara cruise is coming up on Jan. 29, 3013 to The Sea of Cortez.

We found the cruisers to be very much the same on both cruise lines. What we liked best about Oceania is the additional choices for dining at no additional charge. The shore excursions are much more expensive.

We are looking forward to the new all inclusive wine and alcohol policy on AZ.:)

  10. White Nights occur during the cruise, usually on sea days when dinner is served outside on the upper deck. Usually it is a special barbeque served by the entire staff. It is very festive; the band plays and dancing is encouraged. Attire is anything white! It's fun!
