  1. But it was people that cashed in their OBC in the casino that prompted Celebrity to make this change.

They do, however, give you a printout of you N-OBC (non-refundable ... which has to be used onboard as the title indicates) and R-OBC (refundable ... most likely provided by your TA). Your non-refundable OBC will be used first and refundable OBC will go back to your credit card if not used in its entirety. I have read that some have had luck getting it in cash at the passenger services desk.

  2. Denali Park Village is where we stayed last June. Notes from my journal:

At 2 pm we boarded the bus. We are supposed to arrive in Denali about 5 pm.

Megan (our guide) has been stressing the "rustic" nature of our accommodations.

I can't wait to see this hotel.

Surprise! It's not bad. Rustic, yes, but we got lucky and were put in

the brand new building on the river side with beautiful views. No elevator, but no

problem. The room is very small, no amenities but has two double

beds, the tiniest sink with no counter space, and a walk in shower.

    Very clean.

  3. March 9 and March 21 were our first and second Azamara cruises. Yes, there was rough weather; very rough. Fortunately neither of us are bothered by this. Yes there were plumbing problems; fortunately again we were not impacted by this. Certainly had we been in one of the affected cabins, we would have been uncomfortable and unhappy - until the situation was resolved.

The Captain did a lot to keep everyone informed about both situations with frequent announcements regarding progress in resolving the plumbing issues and weather updates. Senior staff were very visible throughout both cruises.

Also, I must say that I have never seen a friendlier, more willing to please crew in over 30 voyages. Everyone appeared to be empowered to make the decisions necessary to provide the best possible guest experience. The only less than stellar interactions with staff were surprisingly at Guest Relations. Several of GR were the only people I encountered who seemed uninterested in providing an optimum guest experience. To put this in proper perspective, we never had any issues, merely needed change one time, had a couple of questions at other times. Tine was always smiling and helpful, however the other two we interacted with were much less so.

The ship itself was in great condition. I loved the elegant common areas. The decor of the entire ship was beautiful and very well maintained. Also, everything was kept very clean. The entire ship seemed a very well-oiled machine; well run.

Service was excellent in every venue. When our beer of choice (not one of the complimentary) was unavailable in the Sunset Bar, the bartender quickly went elsewhere to get 4 bottles. There were always plenty of servers available in the buffet to carry your plate and get your beverage of choice. The servers in Mosaic quickly learned our preferences. Waiters in every eating place were great without being stuffy or too formal. In all, we were very impressed and pleased.

We had a wonderful time and I would not hesitate to recommend Azamara. In fact we have B2B booked in both 2016 and 2017.

  4. On Summit we were given a menu listing the available choices. The platters were then served by a waiter/waitress who also served beverages. The choices were limited to the usual continental type of breakfast - fruit, pastries, breads and rolls, cold meats and cheeses, etc.

  5. We truly enjoyed the new Elite Breakfast when on Summit last month. I could have gone every day, but DH often likes more variety. I went several times with other family members who were traveling with us. It was very relaxed, with great views and great service.

And I LOVED the platters. Plenty of choices and everything fresh and yummy. If you like salmon you'll be in heaven.

  6. We (group of 14 adults + infant) just returned from our 8/24 Summit cruise to Bermuda (Port Can and Nassau, actually).

After contacting several recommended websites for transfers from hotel to pier/pier to airport with no response, I called Independent Driver (888-816-0973). I was quoted a very reasonable price for two vehicles and made a reservation.

I was a little concerned as I had no email confirmation, nothing to hold on to.

But it worked out great. Our driver (Abdul) called my cell the day before the cruise, and verified our pickup time, location, and that we would have plenty of room for all of us and our luggage.

Abdul (very nice, polite, helpful guy) and his partner called again a few moments before arriving and picked us up on time, in two comfy clean vehicles.

Abdul and I verified a time for our disembarkation pickup before they left.

When we all were able to get off the ship and through customs earlier than scheduled, I called sent a text to Abdul and he quickly responded. They were at the pier within 15 mins to get us, well before our scheduled pickup time.

Thanks to all who have recommended this group. It wasn't a limo, but it was a nice, comfortable drive with two very professional drivers.

  7. We spent 6 weeks on Millie last summer and got to know our servers fairly well. I asked several about the extra dollar I tip per drink. They all said that the included 15% is pooled among all bar staff, while anything extra does indeed go to the particular server.

I was also told that when you are sailing with a drink package, the more times a server scans your card for your drinks, the greater their portion of the tip pool.

This makes sense, as I have sailed with both the package and without, and always found service to be prompt and friendly. YMMV.
