  1. Enjoy Alaska....take binoculars. We were able to see some amazing wildlife (bear cubs playing on shore, etc) from the ship.

As someone living near Seattle, I was stunned by comments from other passengers about the scenery. I have obviously taken for granted the beauty of the area I live in. I remember that cruise often as I drive to and from work looking directly at Mt. Rainier or the Cascades, or sitting in the office looking out at Puget Sound, or watching a bald eagle fly by.

So take a few moments and take in the sights of this fantastic part of the world.

  2. Good Morning,

Where would one get a copy of the dinner menu to scan? I've often gone and asked to see the evening's menu and was handed, well, a menu. If I wanted a printed menu to take to my cabin, would I be given one?

Also, thank you to everyone who provides all this wonderful information. It has been tremendously helpful.

  3. uilleann -

You didn't ask, but since you indicated that you play the slots, I'll just throw this out. From that list, go with Blackjack or 3 Card Poker.

The slots on the ship can be a little tight (I have no information on if they are regulated or not).

Fun 21 Blackjack and Face Up Blackjack are variations on the Blackjack theme. Fun 21 Blackjack, for me, has not been fun.

If you can get $.25 roulette, and the max on the inside is $1, that might not be bad (it's actually my favorite, even though I know the odds are bad). But roulette does favor the house.

    These are just my opinions.

Have a great cruise and spend your money the way you want to spend it.

    PS - I care.

  4. Yep, Seattle does have traffic issues....even on Saturday morning (they are doing resurfacing and other construction projects, weekend shutdowns of lanes on I-5 are not unheard of.)

There is another way to SeaTac in addition to I-5, it's SR-99 (true, it's a mess because of viaduct construction, but it is another route). It's about a mile longer than taking I-5 to the airport.

Ask your driver if there are any lane closures or accidents and let him/her know that you would like to take the less congested, most direct route to SeaTac. They should know.

When you get to the airport, there is one really big main security line area and two other smaller security line areas. You will be able to tell. There are also people who will direct you to the other areas - believe it or not, listen to them, it can save you time.

SeaTac also takes the electronic boarding passes, so if you check in on your phone you can save a step.

Good luck, have fun, and be patient.

  5. I agree with Frank...don't go to Bainbridge on the 4th. And if you don't like crowds, stay away from any of the waterfronts on the 4th.

Enjoy your time in Seattle, bring your patience, sense of humor and give yourself extra time to get anywhere.

  6. Tisha - Happy 40th ! ! That cruise sounds like a wonderful way to usher in a new year.

(Treating yourself to travel for your birthday is one of my favorite things to do. For my 40th I insisted on going as far away from home as possible and still be in the US. That is why we spent 10 fantastic days in Key West.)

We are headed to the Western Caribbean in Dec....what ports are you visiting? Come back after your trip and let us know all about it. Have a great time and Happy Birthday.
