  1. Thank you everyone for your input, I appreciate it!!:) We just returned from a week all inclusive in Cuba yesterday. It was a good vacation, however, I definately figured out that we are cruise people, not resort people. Not that there is anything wrong with resorts, it's just a personal preferance. . I am even more sure that no matter if there are only a handful of teens on ship next March, my son will make the best of it. We are still hoping that my sister in law and her family come with us (we did the RCCL cruise two years ago with them and this most recent trip with them), My son's exact words were "Mom, I don't even care if no one comes with us next year, we are definately doing the Celebrity ship!!!", lol! I think he's also excited that there is a basketball court (I think?), It was also just him & I that went, we tagged along with sis in law and our neighbours & I really missed having my hubby & daughter with us. I know it's a year ahead but I'm going to call Celebrity tomorrow and get some pricing information, etc:) Sorry for rambling again, I am just really excited lol!! Thanks again to all of you who chimed it, much appreciated!!!

  2. Thanks everyone for your input:) Yes, both itineraries are 7 days, one is March 10th & one is March 11th. Would LOVE to do a 10 night (we did 10 night Emerald Princess) but with schedules week will be all we can do. We are definately planning on a couple days pre-cruise fort lauderdale. The Equinox is out of Miami but we would just transfer to port from fort lauderdale. We did grand cayman and cozumel two years ago on freedom of the seas but haven't been to costa maya since 2005 and never ported in key west. The silhouette does st thomas, st maarten and san juan, and while we love st thomas, we didn't have good experience in st maarten and didn't do much in san juan when we were there in 2008 on caribbean princess. There is a chance my sister in law and her boys might join us but not sure. My son is the type of kid that can pretty much meet friends wherever he goes, even if he doesn't have friends he's traveling with.

  3. Hello everyone:) We have never cruised Celebrity before and are looking at either the Celebrity Equinox or Celebrity Silhouette next March 2018. Yes, I know, I'm waaayyy ahead of the game but we know we definately want to try this line and we already know our kids proposed school break and we like the idea of booking well ahead of time. My daughter will be first year college and it will actually be the same time as our high school, I'm so pumped!!!! I'm going away with my teenage son to Cuba on Monday with my sis in law and family friends. My hubby and daughter are staying behind to work. My hubby does not like resorts, he/we LOVE to cruise!!! he has a very busy week of work. My daughter is a server/supervisor at a local restaurant and we have a big week long hockey tournament this week so she wanted to stay back and work and make extra money for school (pretty darn proud of her for that, BUT, this will be my first march break in about 10 years, that I have not had her with me) We have sailed Carnival x 4, Princess x 2, and RCCL x 2 and now time to try Celebrity:) I'm just trying to compare the two. We are leaning toward equinox because of the itinerary, love grand caymen and cozumel. It goes out of Miami but we already know we would stay in fort lauderdale and take a transfer. we lOVE fort lauderdale!!!! I'm also just not sure of how many teenagers will be on board. We have a 15 year old boy (will be almost 16 at time of sailing) and our daughter will be 19. I'm hoping there will be a few teens on board. A lot of high schools in Canada have different spring breaks than us. Anyway, sorry for the book, lol!! any info would be great!! thanks so much!! -Kathy

  4. We are headed on Freedom of the Seas on March 15th sailing and i am seriously considering taking inly carryon luggage, as in one small rolling carryon and a small tote.we will be flyong out of northestern Ontario, staying in Orlando for 3 nights prior to boardi the ship. Part of my reasoning is the cost to check bags, and also, i recently went on a 5 day trip to Cancun, had a delay leaving and didn't get my checked bag until two days after i got home. I have a long history of over-packing but this will be our 6th cruise & i think i hve finally figured out i onky need to take half of ehat i think i will need, lol!! So, how many of you travel only with carryon luggage? I have watched a bumch of youtube videos in the past while and i'm going to do a practice pack this weekend and see if i can do it!!! Some people wek ow just got to mexico yesterday (fliying direct out of their departure city and the airline lost all 3 of their suitcases, ugh!!

Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated:) thanks!!

  5. today I found the cutest little black sarong thing to wear over my black tankini bottom!! I tried it on with the tankini top and I love it!!!! Now I won't feel self concious at the beach or the pool. I still want to order a couple little sundress/coverup things to wear as well. I also found a cute pair of black sandals. They have a cork wedge that's not too high, so can wear with pretty much anything. Today I got the kids clothes all washed up and folded, now just have to do mine. Waiting on a couple of things to be altered for myself and my daughter (she had found a couple of really cute dresses to wear on formal nights but they are a little big). Oohhhhh, I can't wait!!! Three weeks tomorrow we'll be in Fort Lauderdale!!!

  6. I love hearing everyone's posts on what they are wearing/packing!

In our past three cruises, we've always booked in January to go April, and therefore had lots of time to think about it and purchase and plan. This time we just booked a week ago, and sail on March 11th. I just dug out my summer stuff and started going through and trying on. All of my tops I'd want to bring are fine, the shorts on the other hand, not so much, seems I've gained a few pounds along the way. I did pick up the other day a really nice pair of black city shorts, blk capris and a cute black skirt. (the black skirt is very versatile because it looks good with a dressy top and also with just a tank top too!)

I was at Walmart the other day and found a dressy top in a style that I didn't think was for me, soooo glad I tried it on as I loved it so much, I bought two in two different prints and colors, plus it already comes with a necklace type thing on already so I don't even need to accessorize, yay! So in a nutshell I believe I am bringing the following:

2 dresses for formal night 1- a simple black sleeveless & the 2nd is a pretty blue/green print with sequiny things on the v-neck. the black is very deep v so will wear a lacy cami under.

1 blk pr capris, 1 blk skirt, 1 blk city shorts

1 pr brown/dk beige shorts and 1 denim shorts

The two tops from Walmart for evening wear. I might even bring a pair of nice dark jeans to wear with one of them.

Three of four other tops that are dressy or can be dressed up with accessories.

Four or five tank or sleeveless tops

Three or four little sundressy dresses/coverup things that I can wear to the ports or just around the ship over my bathing suit.

For shoes, I'm thinking just a pair of runners (you know, in the event I get ambitious and want to go for a walk around the deck in the ocean breezes!!!), also bringing one pr of blk dressy sandals, probably a light beige pr of sandals to go with that one dress in the blues/greens, and then my good old navy colored croc flip flops which seriously are the comfiest shoes I have ever owned!!!

On our first ever cruise, I brought along about 8 pairs of shoes, didn't even wear four of them!!

It's also been lots of fun helping my 12 y/o daughter pack and plan for the cruise as well! She is at that age where she loves fashion and putting outfits together. She has her two dresses for formal night and then some cute stuff picked out for the other nights. For day she'll be good with t-shirts/tanks and shorts. For my 9 y/o boy, he coud probably care a less what I pack for him, lol!!! all I need to get him are a couple more dress shirts for evening. I just ordered him a few more pairs of shorts as his other ones were too small.

My hubby as usual will pretty much pack 1/2 before we leave to drive up to Winnipeg!!

I look forward to hearing more thoughts and ideas on what everyone brings!!!!

  7. The 30 day shred is a dvd by Jillian Michaels from Biggest Loser. It is about a 23 minute workout with cardio, strength and abs. There are three levels to do as your endurance increases. I like it, it kicks my butt and done quickly. If you do it for thirty days you are supposed to lose pounds and inches

  8. Okay, after reading your posts, I really need to dust off my wii fit! I actually had to get my daughter to help me re-set it up after Christmas as it had been so long since I had used it! I also purchased the wii fit plus and want to open that up really soon. We don't cruise until the 11th of April, but will be turning 40 while we are gone. I have given myself a goal of losing 10 by the third week of March. We are going up to city for a few days over kids March Break week and I am planning to buy myself a cute little two piece and a sexy little black dress. I also have the 30 day shred, so if I can just get off my butt and alternate with the three workouts, I'd be set!

Keep up the great work everyone! Have a great day!
