The speciality restaurants, Chartreuse & P7, are open for lunch only on the new class of ships (Explorer, Splendor & Grandeur). Both on sea days; one on port days.

    Menus are specific to lunch.

So does this mean that there is at least one restaurant open on the Grandeur whether at sea or in port? We do not eat buffets.  How about boarding day?  Thank you.

  2. I do agree with most of your pros and cons regarding the Cove Residence.  We were in the Cove for two weeks--December 22-January 6.  Not a fan of daybeds--personally like a couch and arm chairs.  We are used to larger suites, and felt that this one was smaller than we anticipated. We did enjoy the suite and my husband spends most of the time on the balcony with a large overhang--this was great for him. I felt that it was a bit narrow--regarding your comments on size constraints.  Yes, the lights were difficult until I learned how to work them.  Next sailing, we are trying the Serenity residence, but it will be awhile until I can report about it.  Thanks for your post.  I enjoyed reading it and remembering the residence and "journey".

  3. Read that today,December 21 passengers tendered in to Ocean Cay.  How did it go?  We have never had to tender in to Ocean Cay.  If the weather was bad, we just could not go.  Just curious. Thank you.

Last orders were being asked for at 2145 in the lobby with Natalia playing until 2230.  Unfortunately the trio as it was in the Astern played intermittently each night due to lack of customers ( the bar was open) and the Explora lounge bar stayed open but the other piano player stopped before 2200.
The whole entertainment schedule was illogical. I’ve no idea who came up with it but it gave the impression either they’d never scheduled entertainment on a cruise ship, didn’t talk to the beverage manager to coordinate opening times and entertainment and/or were not looking each day at what guests were hanging around looking for.  Total lack of entertainment management despite the fancy job title.
As soon as Heike the general manager identified the disconnect on our cruise she did initiate changes though the entertainers still seemed not to have the full message!
This was an example of an entertainment fix that didn’t need budget or new performers just a bit of scheduling nous. Make sure the entertainment and bar hours are coordinated and put one place with something that goes on until 2300 in addition to the disco - as we have on Azamara, Viking etc. An easy one to tweak.

You are correct.  How do you not know how to schedule entertainment?  That boggles my mind.  Maybe a lack of experience to schedule or did not hire enough entertainment?  It's too bad on such a beautiful ship,

But plenty time at the Police Station "

Oh how fun!!!! I love watching Death in Paradise on my public tv station.

    Great pictures.

Thank you.  We are booked on this tour through the ship.  I am so happy that you  wrote about it.

  6. I am a teacher who sails MSC Yacht Club frequently.   Being a teacher in this day and age, we are prepared the best we can for unforeseen emergencies.  However, with that being said the person in full charge is our principal, unless it is necessary for police officers to take command..

As I see it with MSC Seascape, the Captain is in charge during any type of emergency that affects all that are on the ship at the time.  Did the Captain order that all passagengers can return to their cabins and wait?  Did the Captain open up food venues?   Captain would have had to given the orders--not the  Yacht Club Director, Concierge, butlers, chefs, waiters, etc. Please  understand that I am not just speaking about Yacht Club.   It starts at the very top for every passenger.  I am just concerned about the welfare of all.  Thank you.
