  1. Good advice to put a freeze on your with all credit services. When I checked with the company doing the monitoring, they said if you received the letter, your information was compromised.  My gripe with the monitoring company is that you cannot have more than one person sharing the same email address.  My husband does not have a separate email account. We use just one for both of us, so my husband has to receive his information by snail mail. I am not  interested  in trying to monitor two email accounts.

  2. My husband and I each received a letter yesterday entitled: "Notice of Potential Data Breach".  It appears that an "unsanctioned third party gained unauthorized access to some employee email accounts that contained personal information regarding our guests".  The unauthorized access occurred between April 11 and July 23, 2019.  We didn't cruise with Princess during 2019 so it appears that this breach goes back ??????

The type of data potentially impacted vary by guest but could include: name, address, SS number, government ID, credit card and financial account information and health-related information.  All of this is from their notice.

We questioned Princess' representative, ID Experts, since we are not employees and were told that if we received the notices, our information was potentially compromised.  They offered one year of free credit monitoring and identity theft detection services for one year.

Question  --- Has anyone else received such a notice?  I know that with all the COVID-19 information concerning Princess ships, this could have escaped the news.

  3. We have just been assigned a club class cabin 'M1' category up from a ME guarantee on the Emerald. (Oh happy day!) Notice that we will be given 1/2 bottle each of a red and a white wine Two questions: anyone know if this is a "house wine" or from a specific winery? Second question, may we take the bottles into the CC dining area without the corkage fee?

  4. We have completed 41 cruises (40 was on the lower right hand corner of our last cruise card) and have booked b2b in December which will be 42 and 43.

Princess agent said that the 75.00 will be credited to the SECOND cruise but only 50.00 for the first cruise since it is a FUTURE cruises.

I understood from the postings here that the 75.00 starts with #42. Our card will show 41 completed cruises/credits.

    Who is right??

  5. We are on the Star Princess 10/29 Vancouver to Vancouver. We have just been informed by Princess that we will be docking at Pier 54 in San Pedro on Sunday, 11/1. We are quite familiar with Pier 92/93 and how to get around but have absolutely no knowledge about Pier 54, except that it is an overflow pier.

Is there bus transportation on a Sunday? How about the trolley that runs to the World Cruise Center - does it also go to Pier 54??

Would appreciate any suggestions about getting around besides taxis.

  6. Now I am concerned again. After enduring beds that felt like sleeping on a concrete slab, we started carrying a 2" topper in a space bag fitted in the top expanded part of one suitcase. Our steward's eyes always widened when we opened it up. Then we encountered better pillow top mattresses on the past few cruises so left the topper home

Now we are booked on the Star (older ship) in a mini-suite and the thought of ten days back on the concrete slab, has DH and me thinking of the 2" topper again.

What do you think? Should we take a chance or just shrink up the topper and take it with us?? The vacuum is usually available in the hallway if needed

  7. We regularly take the train from Edmonds to Vancouver to take the ships out of Vancouver. It is true what Zepyr17 said, the conductor has the final word.

We have had some really "on top of it" conductors, and also some others.

Usually they seat all the Seattle boarders in one/two specific cars, while holding other cars for boarders up the line.

Remember they unload the train from the back, not the front, so those that

get on first, get off first. Business car also gets preferential treatment. No one gets off until the baggage car (right behind the engine) gets unloaded with the suitcases all along the fence. You pick luggage up as you go past it to get in the immigration line which will be long on a sold out train.

That said, it is a very enjoyable ride as the train goes along the coast line until

into BC. Remember, you don't have to wait in line at the border (which can be long), nor do you have to deal with traffic either in the US, nor in Vancouver trying to get to the pier. We've done both train and rental car, dropping off in the city, and much prefer the train. $20.00 is a very good price.

  8. On Monday, we took the bus (#24) to the pier, having boarded on 4th Ave. There were about 5-6 others on the bus with their carry-on bags so we knew we would have company. The bus stopped (#1394) just before going up over the Garfield St/Magnolia bridge, north side. We walked about 30 ft. to a set of steel steps - not very obvious. The guard was waiting for us at the bottom - evidently, had been busy every 30 minutes earlier. Checked our ID's/passports and off we went. A couple of others knew what they were doing - the Port has painted a walkway of sorts so just rolled our little carry-on a couple of blocks -

We got off the bus at 12:00 Noon, and were checked in and in our room by 12:25PM, so we were happy. Will do it again as long as we hv just carry-on. DH says he would do it even with our two 26" cases, but....

Would not recommend it for any with walking difficulties, but we considered it good exercise although we are in our later 70's.

  9. This is a question for Seattle locals -- is it possible to walk from the

closest Metro stop to Pier 91?? We are on a one day Seattle/Vancouver so have little luggage and would like to take the bus instead of paying $20-25 from a downtown hotel. Visitors Bureau said there is no walkway/

path to the Pier. Metro site gives directions to Garfield Bridge (which is

above the pier) or 15th Ave W. then...what?? We used to walk to

the other Princess/HAL pier from the bus stop but there were sidewalks, etc. Would appreciate your input. Thanks
