Oh, yes. I'm in the throes if a snootful right now and, like you, started feeling it as soon as I left the ship. It will hang on longer than Noro, but I think I'd rather have a cold than the other ship crud.

I would have loved to see puffins, but, in 3 trips to Alaska, have seen virtually NOTHING. A few eagles (I'm in WA, too, and we have them here), what I was told were whales and one opportunistic seal at the Juneau salmon hatchery. Very disappointing.

I remember a Quilt shop in Ketchikan in a two story 'mall' in 2008. Lots of moose and bear fabrics and fleece.
Also saw some fabric in Ben Franklin.
It may be the same shop, but there is a wonderful yarn shop in the same "mall."

I'm convinced that the Statendam is cursed. Both cruises I've taken on her, I ended up with heavy colds that forced me to miss going ashore. And I have no idea where the bug came from.
I did catch a cold right after our Hawaiian cruise on the Zaandam, but one of the people we were hanging out with had one and I know I caught it from him.

Thank you so much for doing all the research. This thread brought back fond memories of the Stardancer.

John,
Thank you so much for the history. It's really great to know she's still in service.

Our first cruise was on the Admiral Cruise Lines Stardancer in 1987. This was to celebrate our first anniversary and, boy, were we hooked...the minute we stepped onboard.

I would love it, but my DH would definitely NOT. And the opera senario...that would be my all time favorite. Again, the other half..NO. Everyone has different tastes and it seems as though those of us who love the classics have to adapt to the rest of the world.

Our first cruise (Mexican Riviera) was on the Stardancer. That's what got us hooked on cruising.
Same here. We met her in Puerto Vallerta and came back to LA. It was only 4 days since neither of us was sure cruising was something we'd enjoy. We've been on several cruises since...and it was all her fault.
Lost Holland America Hat

I bought a baseball cap on a recent Zuiderdam cruise. It was Navy blue with a silver flower silk screened on it along with "Holland America Lines." As soon as I got home, I left it somewhere and have no idea where.
I contacted HAL and they can't help me replace it. If anyone has one of these, I will be very happy to purchase it from you at a reasonable cost.
Thanking everyone in advance
