  1. The minimum drinking age for all alcoholic beverages on Norwegian Cruise Line ships is 21. Guests who are 18 - 20 years of age can purchase and consume beer or wine when the ship is in international waters (3 miles out of US territorial waters). The age modification does not apply for Alaska and Hawaii sailings. The parent or legal guardian must be onboard the sailing with the young adult and present themselves at the Front Desk so they can sign the form allowing the consumption of beer and wine only. A notarized Parent Consent Form or any other document allowing for temporary guardianship for the purposes of the sailing only will not be accepted.

This is from the NCL website.  But I swear that I read something recently that the parents do not have to sign anything in Europe.  I think you should be able to upgrade your package because you have to be 21 to get a beverage package.  Unless you want to pay for an upgraded package when your son turns 21 but I am sure that is pricey onboard.

Final payment isn't due until oct. 25th but I had a 20% coupon pop up on my NCL account page so had my TA do a quick check of my reservation to make sure it was all set , I's dotted and T's crossed and run the coupon if she could ,  she cancled an old 10 % coupon , ran the 20 % and saved me $1000 , one happy cruiser here 😄 , another reason i always use a TA ( even if I do grump some times Haha )

Where do you find the coupon in the My NCL section?  My husband got a 10% coupon that we used for our 2023 Spring Break Cruise. He received another in the mail for 10% but it isn't showing up in his account?

I called to get info and I received the following:

Group is 5 or more cabins (cabins can be any category, but an inside cabin only receives 2 of the 4 free at sea - speciality dining, drink package, internet, shore excursions.

    $100 OBC

Discounts are available if you book early...

    400 + days = 15% off voyage fare

    271 + days = 10% off voyage fare

and another one for 5% discount but I do not understand my notes....lol

I have a group booked for April and we all have balcony cabins and they were able to use the air promo, but since this is a family group cruise and we are taking advantage of the 3rd & 4th passenger at the $99 rate, this group is not eligible for the booking in advance rate. Not everyone added the air promo, so you may need to call again.  Or have the person who wants to add the air promo call and add to their cabin.  Im sure they will be allowed to do so.

    hope this helps.

But I do understand the variety of information that is given.... this is frustrating!

Thanks for this info. I am working on group in 2024 and I didn't realize that if you take passenger 3&4 rate you don't get the 15%  I need to check the math on that.

  4. I just booked the Escape with my neighbor.  We have 4 in our cabin but she only has 3.  Yet in order to choose her cabin she had to book a family balcony.  There is one cabin between us for 3 person occupancy but it did not allow her to choose it.  I just assumed it was booked.  I was on the phone with NCL for another question and they said that cabin was available.  She called and they were will to give it to her but she ended up keeping the original.

Seems kind of back handed to me.  Why would they waste a 4 person cabin with only 3 people?  That just doesn't make sense to me.

That's interesting.  I'm seeing the same thing.  We're booked on one this fall prior to that.  NCL's website is still showing that they will take my final payment, so I'm guessing it's still on.  POA bookings have been strange all year.  At one point all the April and May sailings suddenly vanished, but then slowly came back.  We've heard that staffing is a real issue, so it may be that NCL is capping booking right now pending resolution of the staffing shortages.

Thant is what I was thinking. Obviously I don't need to book a Pride of America cruise but that seemed strange.

If you have any specific questions let me know! 🙂

You may not know the answer but I'll try anyway.  We are in a suite. Pre-Covid, suite guests were able to get breakfast and lunch at Cagney's.  I know the MDRs aren't open for B/L but since Cagney's is operational, just wondering if suite guests were at the very least getting breakfast.

We were booked on the POA for February and we got the same letter a few weeks before they cancelled our trip.  I don't think this letter guarantees she's sailing.

Well she is almost to Honolulu so that's a good sign.

I wonder if suite passengers will still be able to eat breakfast and lunch at Cagney's.

In the past, the rule was “once early saver always early saver.”  A person could match any generally advertised price up to 2 days before sailing.  However, currently when a person accepts a Great Resident’s Rate, Carnival now switches them from early saver to the Great Resident’s Rate and then says they are not eligible for future price matches.  It’s a new thing and in my opinion it’s bait & switch.  When we sign up for early saver, we have the expectation that price matching goes to 2 days before sailing.

So you only get to reduce again if you keep choosing another Easy Saver Offer?

  9. I have posted about this booking before. I'll try to briefly explain.

    Book an Early Saver Room

Saw a price reduction (Great Resident Rate)

    Submitted form - denied

    Called and got $130 OBC

Saw another reduction of $150 today

Called and denied because they said my fare wasn't Early Saver, it was Great Resident Rate.

Is that right?  I am past final payment but more than 2 weeks before sailing.  I was not very confident his knowledge so I thought I'd ask here before I call back and get put on hold for 30 minutes again.

Rapid test is fine. And now you are allowed to take it 3 days ahead of your cruise.  This is as of March 1st and if you had your vaccines and a booster if eligible.

What is everyone's definition of "booster if eligible?"  My 12 yo daughter got her second shot on December 23 so she isn't eligible for her booster until may.  I would hate to misinterpret but it would be so much easier on me as the rest of us are vaxxed and boosted.

nonsense. Once you book ES you are always ES and you follow the rules of the ES bookings with price changes allowed up until the day before sailing.

I just looked at my confirmation.  I got a price reduction (after final payment) based on a Resident Rate and now my small print says "Resident Rate" whereas it said "Early Saver" before.

You don't say what month you are cruising, but the current chatter is that all requirement for entering the state will be removed in April. I do not believe the OP received accurate information from NCL. Boosters are not required anywhere here on Maui and you won't even need to show a vaccine card to dine indoors after Monday. Maui (and the state) are swiftly relaxing requirements. If the POA can sail from here (staffing is still an issue), I seriously doubt boosters will be considered. Best to you!

We are sailing in late May. Thanks for the words of encouragement!!  I booked this cruise pre-covid and I have been looking forward to it for 2 years!
