  1. Did you not read my last post above???

As a matter of fact, no. As you can see by the time stamp, you posted your reply a few minutes before me which means I was typing my response as yours was posted.

And your first response was in reference to momwiththreeboys's post and she was not quoting anyone at all, just making a general statement about kids and not even about cruising with kids. You should have referrenced one of the many posts about not taking kids on cruises to make your position a little clearer, as you later found out when you had to clarify.

  2. Thank you...I have to say I have been on cruises before I was a mother but the past 4 since I have been a mom with my son have been the best. RCCL is a FAMILY cruise line if you don't want ot see children go somewhere else.

It's not that people oppose having kids on a cruise, it's that they oppose having kids in an adult only venue. For me, it seems selfish that parents bring their kids to adult only events/venues because they are only thinking about themselves and not the other people who are there for what is supposed to be a kid-free time.

I'm not anti-kid, especially on cruises. I think travel is important for learning and that learning different cultures improves everyone's view of life. I just don't agree with having children in an adult only area/venue/event.

  3. I feel sorry for those of you who can't understand the joy that children can bring to your life.

Not everyone would agree with that, there are plenty of people who just don't want kids, and that is perfectly fine. Living a full life of joy isnt contingent on being a parent, and it's hurtful to people who don't have kids, either because of choice or chance, to be told their life isn't "joyful" or fulfilled because they don't have kids. As someone who can't have kids, I know full well the joy they can bring, but if I'm attending something where kids arent supposed to be, then I expect to not be around kids. They may be well behaved and "invisible" but I don't think I should be guilted into spending time with kids when I'm at an adult event because they bring so much "joy" to someone else's life.

  4. Perhaps I'm very naive, but do you honestly think that if you don't tip, your bags are targeted to go missing or be damaged (totally by accident, of course)?

These guys make a lot more $$ than I do. Granted, the work is much harder, physically, but it's not rocket surgery. ; )

Exactly! There's not a lot of places to "hide" luggage when they're being scanned. Plus, there's lots of people there, watching, who aren't dependent on tips. If a porter were walking off with a bag into an area where it didn't belong, someone would notice and say something. Greedy porters play up the misconception that they are responsible for your luggage getting to the ship. They take it to a bin where another worker, who has no idea what you tipped, processes the luggage. Yet another worker, who has no idea what you tipped, takes the luggage to the ship.

I have never heard of someone's luggage not making it on the ship because they stiffed the porter. I would think that a story like that would get a lot of attention, especially here on CC.

  5. Also..I've also noticed that when Voyager is in Galveston...the cruise prices a much higher than other ports. What's up with that?

Supply and demand. Voyager sailed at capacity just about every single week it was here for the last 4 months which is exactly what happened last season. A high demand for staterooms means they can charge more (and they get it) for a room. Which also probably explains why they only have a ship here part time. Limiting the amount of sailings there creates demand as well.

  6. When we sailed last time, he was very cold to us which is disappointing because at that time he wanted the agents to notify him when the suite guests arrived so he could personally escort them on the ship. The day we sailed I personally escorted 3 suites worth of guests to him and he didn't say 3 words to me despite chatting up everyone else in the lounge. I just thought that was crappy of him to treat someone like that after doing something that is not only not in our job description, but something that I didn't have time to do in the first place.

We just felt like the step children of the lounge because of our "status" at the pier.

And I'm just teasin' about last week ;)

  7. Dave, that's exactly why I don't like the differentiation between the cards. What someone pays for a room onboard shouldn't have any affect on service in the bar or the casino.

I hope it wasn't you that wasn't treated as well as the suite passengers. I would be very disappointed. But that goes along with my issue with Martin last season.

  8. really a good idea so that crew members at bars and other locations can id pax as suite guests

All passengers should recieve the same gold anchor service regardless of their stateroom accomodations so they shouldn't need a special card to indentify special guests when all their guests should get superior service.

  9. I have some ham buddies who sailed on the Radiance of the Seas (RCCL) in January and operated on the HF bands from the ship.

I'm just reiterating what RCCL policy says.

    Their policy is found here

"Aside from the obvious (and illegal) items not allowed onboard, there are other items we cannot accommodate onboard."

    Prohibited items:

    Candles

    Coffee Makers

    Electrical Transformers

Flammable Liquids and Explosives (such as fireworks)

    HAM radio equipment

    Hockey sticks

    Illegal Drugs

    Irons

    Personal Alcohol

    Skateboards

    Surfboards

  10. Not funny if you are in that situation.

I know that ALMOST happened to me. I had just started on a new diabetes med. We boarded ship ate lunch, walked around ship and FORTUNATELY was in our stateroom when it happened. No warning- I felt it-jumped off the bed-and before I could make it to the toilet-it happened. I was wearing white capris- so NO WAY to hide that-besides the smell for sure!

I KNEW it was the meds-as the meds had already griped me-and I guess because I ate a little more then I should-that is how they took care of the excess sugar-kept my body from absorbing it by sending it straight through.

If this is the med I'm thinking of (and taken) I totally feel your pain. I'm taking it because of a condition (not diabetes) and it's the only thing that helps. I must say, it hits you without warning and there's no waiting. I took it on my last cruise and I avoided sugar like the plague because I didn't want "issues" while on an excursion. It did do it's job on that cruise, I ovulated for the first time in 3 years on that cruise and I have yet to do it again. Maybe this one will be lucky for me too!

  11. Wow, I had no idea elemis was good at helping water retention. I've been using that stuff for years. I paid a lot less for it on a cruise ship on my honeymoon in 2002 than what it goes for now (it's worth it though) and I just used the last of it the other day :( I have an issue with my saliva gland that causes extreme sudden pain and that gel saved me. I had friend who borrowed some while she was having a hot flash and she loved it so much she ordered a bottle that night. I love that stuff.

I better get some more for my cruise!
