  1. Hi all -

We are sailing the Carnival Victory out of Port Canaveral in two weeks and on our return have booked a Cortrans shuttle back to MCO; however, our flight doesn't leave until 5 pm. I was hoping (but it hasn't happened yet) that Carnival would offer a tour with airport transfer that we could do. Since nothing is posted on the website, and I would need to cancel Cortrans in advance, it looks like we are stuck with a several hour wait at MCO.

I read on one of the posts here that there are restaurants and shops at the airport? Does anyone know if there is a luggage storage or something? I believe the other Florida airports don't allow check in until you are at least 3 hours from departure so assume MCO is the same...

    Thanks for any help, advice

  2. We stayed at the Hilton Galveston Island, it is right on the beach and next to Landrys Steakhouse and Rainforest cafe. They have a lot that they will let you leave your car in for free, and free shuttle to and from the port. Only thing though - when you come back and disembark, just get a taxi, several of waited a couple of hours, made lots of calls to the hotel...shuttle never showed (well one did but it quickly filled up). The taxi was less than $20 and well worth the reduced hassle.

  3. Persnally, I'd be so excited by the upgraded cabin, I wouldn't care about decorations! :) anyway, you asked are they worth it.....well, you can certainly buy the same stuff yourself for a lower price but you lose the impact of opening the door and it's all there! I think there is a picture on the carnival website of what it looks like, or maybe someone here has posted pics, sorry I don't have any. I would say go for it, if you like the streamers and things like that...or save the money and use it for drinks or steakhouse dinner...

  4. I haven't seen any information about the cause of the fire and subsequent repair; however, I am curious if it is similar to the issue that caused the engine room fire on the Triumph.

We were on that one and it turned out to be a leak in a diesel line that sparked. We were at sea though, not docked so that probably made a difference.

  5. Well, it pays to be persistent. I found the original paperwork that my old boss had signed. I gave that to my new boss, his new boss, and the owner of the company that I just happened to see last week. I also told them that if they made me cancel, they need to reimburse by myself and my cousin. The owner of the company, who is amazingly down-to-earth, asked why they had denied my request.

Keep in mind that because of this, I may be out of a job when I get back. they don't like it when you go over their head to the owner, but I don't care!!!! I am going!!!!

What was the reason they wanted to deny the time off?
