  1. So nice to see you back! :):):D

We haven't done the west coast, but you might also be able to get some feedback from the Photo and Camera Discussions board.

Welcome Back. Nice to 'see' you. :)

We enjoyed three cruises on Westerdam. Beautiful ship.

Thanks nice to be thinking about cruising again..I did find a roll call for this which was started nearly a year ago...you gotta love these boards.

I was looking for specific information re cabins in particular..are there any known noisy or hot, cabins...any ocean views better. And on this type of ship which category is best for OV.

What do you all have planned for this year...OVGirl are you still thinking inaugural? Sail...I am sure if you put all your cruises together you would have circumnavigated the world twice over...

So nice to see so many familiar names still around.:D

  2. I am considering booking a cruise on the Westerdam. I have never sailed on this ship before, but have sailed on the Nieuw Amsterdam and a Carnival ship...I fell in love with HAL...and am looking to book a short 5-DAY PACIFIC COASTAL. I will be sailing solo and would probably book an inside or ocean view cabin.

I am mainly interested in photography, especially in San Francisco. Are there any tours that you would recommend.

Is there anything that I should steer away from?

  3. Looks like a crew stariway. I doubt that it will be too noisy.

    Sorry, off topic!!

So nice seeing you here! Are you thinking of a cruise again?

ps. Noordam also has retreat cabanas now.

Nice to see you are still here as well, I have been toying with the idea..just checking things out..where are you off to next?;) Really Noordam have retreat cabanas as well what class of ship is that..

  4. Thank you!!! I'm taking my first cruise ever in June - Alaska, southbound. After years of wearing suits and heels to work and having to dress up for corporate functions, I just don't do it anymore and have been silently planning to just skip anything requiring "formal" attire. I've got a black cocktail dress with dress flats and that will just have to be good enough.

This will be perfect..it is exactly what I am doing as well. On my last cruise I saw all different styles of dress, formal, semi formal, but one lady walked into the MDR, in her little black dress, a sparkly necklace, and flat shoes, and I thought she stole the night away..:D

  5. Joanie do you have any new information on the VQ for the Nieuw Amsterdam..wondering if they have Juliet balconies or regular...and how is the motion and noise they are near the crow's nest lounge..on the panorama deck. Crow's nest seems far enough away though but wondering how long it's open..

  6. I have my stateroom photos up and running. Got them up yesterday. Posted to my thread last night that they were up and running, but it is buried:)

I have just finished working on the ship photos and will post them tomorrow.

Other photos are on my WebShots album here: http://community.webshots.com/user/IRLJoanie I do have to work on cropping my Sunset photos so they do not bounce around when I make a movie of them.

She is the most beautiful ship I have ever seen!! The Manhattan Dining Room is absolutely stunning!!

    Joanie

Great Photos Joanie...thanks, I know where I'll be spending the majority of my time in the cabana club, I rented the family one..and silk den looks like my kinda place..great shots

  7. Thanks for the great information and the photos. I want to pre book a cabana for an upcoming cruise on the NA. Do you feel that some have better locations than others? Excluding the family ones which of course seem the best. It seems like some would have sun in the morning, then others in the afternoon, etc.

    Thanks

You do not get to choose which one you want, you can request one from the ships coordinator, but that is no a guarantee that you will get that particular one..:)

  8. Great review, Ernie. I agree with you about the weather. I don't think I've ever been on a Caribbean cruise that was as rainy and cloudy as it was last week. Yes, it was a bit rough but it didn't bother me and I kind of liked being rocked to sleep.

The crew was all smiles and always spoke, no matter how low on the totem pole they might have been.

My ice bucket and tray were never taken away but the ice was put in the champagne bucket every day and the "ice" bucket was left empty.

My 2 friends and I had a family cabana in the Cabana Club for the entire week and it was, in our opinion, the best part of the cruise. Even when it was cloudy and/or rainy, we still used it.

The disembarkation was the smoothest I have ever experienced on ANY ship.

We were on the Eurodam last year and booked the Eurodam for next November. We don't want to give up Pinnacle, Tamarind or Cabana Club!!

Thanks for writing about the Cabana, I have the family one booked for the week that I cruise as well and plan to get full use out of it.

Did you also rent a Cabana on HMC..I have and just wondering what people thought of that..

  9. Thank you for your quick reply...wow love the images, I have rented the Family cabana in the Cabana club and do intend to spend most of our days there..from the looks of it, much nicer than I expected..

You know I am a professional photographer and these images are among the best I have ever seen here..I just may ditch all my big camera equipment and buy one of these bad boys...thanks..

I am not a swimmer, but could certainly handle sitting on the edge of that pool..and I really like that aft lunch area..boy this is going to be fun.

  10. Great reveiw, I will be sailing her my first with HAL and only second cruise ever, oddly enough my first with on the Miracle great shot of her..I had an aft cabin but did not feel all that motion that you seemed to.. I have had this cruise booked for over a year..Did you see the Cabana Club what did you think?

Could you tell me how deep the aft pool is?

What camera did you take those images with?

Recently a hurricane went by Turks was there a lot of damage?

Thanks again for taking the time to write..

  11. betterbidding shows these amenities with the Ocean Manor as a 2.5*

I've stayed there, but not for a long time. It was fine but not great. At least it's on the beach and I think they have a tiki bar at the pool. I've read mixed reviews on tripadvisor. There is Winn Dixie, CVS, Dunkin Donuts, Ocean's Grill, and McDonald's really close (within 2 blocks).

Thanks but think I'll pass at 92.00 I have time..:) to wait for the right deal to come along..

  12. That sound VERY expensive for a 2 star on HOTWIRE!!!

    I just paid $70 for a 4 star!

    I got Il Lugano

I wonder if hotwire ever make mistakes, with the stars? I think it is very expensive for a 2 star as well..and it's no wonder that it has been there all week and no takers.

  13. There is a 2 star property for 92 currently on Hotwire, showing

Resort, beachfront pool, dining, business centre, laundry....I am guessing it is the Ocean Manor Beach Resort. Has anyone stayed here? Is there anything nearby..the web page for this resort looks good but must be a reason for the 2 star ratings. Can you think of another resort this could be? Seems kinda of expensive for a 2 star...I was hoping it was the Pelican but that is now a 4 star I believe. Any help would be appreciated..it has been on hotwire for about a week now..

My dates for travel are Feb 3/ll -06 pre cruise.

    Thanks..
