  1. There was a survey about the app on the TV in the room. When we got the info about the app on the ship they told us we'd get a $20 onboard credit for completing the survey but we only got $5 credit for it.

I did the survey on the TV and did get a $20 obc. I also had a $5 obc. I was wondering if that was just for downloading the app. The TV survey had to be completed by something like 6pm on Thursday. I'm not postive of the timing, but I do remember they had an expiration.

They also told me that they would be sending another survery that would allow for suggestions.

  2. I used the app on the Epic last week too. Was very disappointed that you could not use it to communicate like they had originally advertised. Couldn't find enough other reason to carry my phone on the ship.

I completely agree. I didn't really find it very interactive. There seems to be so much they could do with this. They did say that they will send us an emailed survey. I hope so.

The app is advertised to let you communicate with others who have the app on their phones. ?????

I know. That's what I thought, too. All I can say is, it didn't have it last week.

  3. I was on Epic last week and used this new app. The wifi is a very limited availbilty only for the specifics of this app. It is not used for any other app or features on your phone. The message section is only to send messages to your cabin TV and receive messages from NCL. It does not communicate between any other phones.

  4. Is the NCL Mastercard available to U.S. citizens only ? As a Canadian , I would like to take advantage of the bonus pts. when we cruise. But there seems to be no area in the application to input our Canadian info other than "Country of Residence". Is there phone # to call to apply ?

    Any help appreciated. Thanks:D

This is the page that came up right after we recieved our approval. Good luck.

    Thank you for your interest.

  5. I think most can agree that a lot of passengers (people in general) are more prone to ask for, and fill out, a comment card if there was an issue, or if there is something that can come back to them by putting out the effort.

NCL has an onboard comment card program, in addition to the post-cruise survey you receive when back home.

The onboard program is called S.T.Y.L.E., and everyone receives one card in their cabin during the sailing. Mine looked a little beat up, so it had possibly been there for a while. I was going to walk down to Guest Services to grab three more when I notived that Natalie was in the Living Room taking with a few Studio peeps. I asked if there were any even closer, and she smiled and said, "Yes". She opened up a cabinet below the coffee machine and grabbed me a few. OK, that wouldn't have been in my first ten guesses of locations. :)

I took my now five cards, and spread them out like a dealer and said, "Pick a card -- Any card". She did, and that's when I advised I'd use that one for her. Oooooo, I got a big hug. :D

Went back to the studio, filled them all out, and took them down to Guest Services.

I'm going to encourage as many of you as posisble to do the same when you see something that needs to be rewarded, as well as when something needs a fixin'

I think it's great that you took the time to do this. We totally agree. We always fill out these cards. I don't remember ever having to note anything disagreeable.

On Epic there were so many that really did go above and beyond. LOL, we had one server that we saw several times that in his own nice way was over feeding us. We asked for 1 suggeestion and every time after he always brought us extras...including 2+ lobsters tails that we had to say "stop!" LOL.

I will also say that we had a wonderful room steward. He was unbelievable. We were so pleased that we called the head of housekeeping and had to tell them how impressed we were. A few hours later we saw "our" steward in the hall and he stopped us and thanked us. Because of our phone call, he was given a certificate to dinner at one of the premium restaurants. I think they do this if they are mentioned on the cards, too. He certainly deserved it. He was always working so hard and so stealthy (?) ;)

BTW, I'm sad you are disembarking, Don. Guess we will have to book our own trip to continue this great review ourselves!

  6. Don-I does warrant mention again, great review! We were on The Epic last August. We found her and crew to be fabulous, too. So glad you had such a great time and are sharing.

We loved teh crepe station. We found it to be open in the buffet most nights. It was our post show and dinner, wind down dessert and coffee time.

I must also say, I love the location of Epic's buffet. At first I thought I would prefer the space as on their Jewel class ships, but I love, loved sitting in those big windows each morning and seeing the beautiful Carribbean.

We are cruising, again, on the Gem next month, and I keep finding myself remember her more as The Epic than the Gem. I'll have to arrange my brain to be ready before we set sail. I could really get lost!

Glad you are safe and well, with a little tiny bit of selfishness on my part. Now we can continue with the great review.

    Thanks!

  7. 11300 has a covered balcony.

Below there are open balconies on deck 9 though, but no lifeboats directly below.

lusitanica- thank you so much! You are sweet for checking this for all of us. It is appreciated. I thought I had counted over, but on another post I saw that their balcony seemed to be more the look of a window. Enclosed I guess? By my count, I would have been close to be a window looking one or the one you noted. Thanks so much! I'm relieved.
