  1. as a brit who books his celebrity cruises with a uk travel agent.

was wondering if anyone from the uk has booked their cruise through a u.s.travel agent.if you have would like to know if things were ok and no problems.the reason asking this question,is i always seem to book at the wrong time.missed out on the 123 promotion and never gain from a price drop.

reading the boards i gather you can cancel a booking and rebook, to gain

new promotions etc.with out any loss of deposit with a u.s. travel agent

  2. hi gordylad

we are from the uk and we are on the millie in march hong kong to singapore.

this will be our 5th trip to the far east and another booked for 2015. so you can tell we love the area.we have flown b.a. non stop and emirates with a stop over in dubai.like someone said befor the journey from port to hanoi etc maybe 2 to 3 hours but the sights on the way are worth it and part of the joy of the far east.if you would like any more info you can e mail me at clm1950@hotmail.com

  3. as someone who had great trip from hong kong to singapore last year on the gemini,i am very sad to see it go.we come from the uk so the short trips star do now arent worth all the traveling.after doing some searching we have found azamara quest part of the celbrity group.the quest who we board next sunday is a small ship about the size of the gemini.we sail from hong kong via japan ,korea and china.so if this small ship can make it pay as i think its full for the season, dont know why star couldnt.

  4. it been over a month since we cruised from hong kong to singapore thought it time i gave my thoughts on it.it was better than all expectations, the best cruise we ever had.althou it a long flight from uk we had good seats thanks to seat guru, plus overnight flights and good service from B.A.we had a good day seeing the sights of hong kong thanks to the advice from kuldai of where to go and what to see.when we got to star cruises embarkation we were through and on ship and in our cabin in minutes .saw the light show on out sail away.the vigo was in port at same time.we sailed just befor her but she soon sailed pasted us.we did all the ships excursions and found them very cheap and beter than any other ships excursions we been on e.g.thompsons ocean village etc.halong bay boat trip around the islands with lunch was out of this world and free when we redeemed our star points.hanoi was a long day but worth it with the cycle taxi trip.plus a great local food lunch, dont know what some of the food we ate but was brill.nha trang trip was temples but a short trip.

kota kinabaluwe did white water rarfting, the wife wasnt keen befor but afterwards couldnt stop talking about it and wanted to go again.we had 7 rafts full lost 3 overboard but they soon rescued and loved it.we had a 70 year old lady on our raft and she was loving it.we even got the dvd to bore our family with.althou it poured with rain and made the river flow faster and rise we never felt in danger.next was kurching and the orangatan trip was our choice.this was another great excursion althou one lady was very unfortunate to be hit by a branch thrown by one of the orangatans and had to be taken to hostpital.

the cabin was very nice the staff couldnt do enough for you the food excellent ,the wife loved the ommletts cooked for you outside the buffet room.the shows were top class and the ships crew show stole the show.

other highlights were seeing dolphins swinging by the ship, having local dancers greet the ship at 2 ports of call.the bridge tour.in singapore we did shoping and a visit to raffles befor our flight home.oh nearly forgot one at nha trang some guest got on and he was on our dinner table at night,he was looking over the ship for the new owners looking to change the out look e.g.the casino area plus the area outside the dinning area where the photo section is,turning this into a bar area for pre dinner drinks etc.he told us it was going to to be marked for russian cruisers in the med area.

we were lucky to get to sail on the gemini befor she leaves the star fleet as we alreading to back next year it looks like it will be the virgo

  5. ive got 9 more working days befor our hols, monday a bank hol in the uk.but got a few more days befor start our gemini cruise thou. was only going to to the star organised trip round halong bay,but now after reading maves question to the hanoi trip and reading the answers will do that one as well.so might se you on the coach mave to say gud day

  6. hi mary

we havent been allocated a cabin yet.we booked a outside cabin, our travel agent will send the details 2 weeks befor we leave.i know it in the cheap seats thou deck 3 .we fly out on the 19th may.so we got a night and half a day in hong kong befor we sail.Kuldalia was kind enough to send me a e mail of what to see and do in that time.i hope you enjoyed your time in Dublin, that one of my favorite cities althou i am biased as my grandfather hailed from that city

  7. hi mary me and the wife will be on the gemini sailing from hong kong on may 21st to.we only doing the first part of the trip will leave the ship at singapore.this will be our first trip to asia after sailing the med for many years.we cant wait althou we might have only the cloths we standing in after the mess b.a.are making with luggage at heathrow .so if you see two people looking a bit raggered it might be us lol

  8. i have booked my cruise on the gemini thru a internet t.a. but was wondering if anyone has booked with star cruises indendantaly thru the internet .was just wondering if there was huge savings to be made this way,i know i would have to book airfares etc myself.

ps in answer to your question about hairdryers crusing d,kuldalai was kind enough to answer that to me and he said yes

  9. i know you need a visa to visit vietnam and we have paid our t.a. for this and believe you get them once you are on board gemini.the question i have is do we need to bring any passport size photos for this in other countries we visited i know you havent needed any ,but as we never been to asia wasnt sure.plus would we need any other documents apart from our british passports.

  10. hi kuldalai not long befor our cruises now, just a quick question for you.what is the entertainment shows etc like on the gemini.i know you sailed on the gemini recently and wondered if the same entertainers will be the same in may

  11. thank you kuldalai and tracey for your replies to my questions. cant think how i use to go on holiday befor i had a computer :D

what with easlly finding cheaper car parking near the air port, cheaper insurance, finding t.a. who specialise in asian cruises.and most important finding kind people like all you passing on your knowledge to us newbies to asia .a big thank you all

  12. hi kuldalai glad you had a great cruise, have a few more questions which i hope you will be kind enough to answer.

    1. i think the gemmini sails from hong kong at 21.00 hours what would be the latest we could board was thinking 17.00 hours as we want to see some of the sites in hong kong you recommended to me in earlier posts.

    2. what vaccinations do you take if any for your asia cruises.

    3. do we need to worry about mosquitos bites.

    4. this one is from my wife because for obvious reasons i dont need them,do the cabins have hair dryers in them.think we on deck 3 although we have'nt had cabin issued yet.

we can't wait for may 21st to come round to start our cruise as we never been to asia.we done all the med and black sea where we visited Gallipoli

a very sad place but very peaceful and well maitained.

  13. thank you tracy for your run down on the gemni trips.will do most of the ships tours as we newbies to asia.hope the bug you had didnt spoil your trip and last to long.have been trying to do the countdown clock for our trip on the 21st may but can find the gemini on the drop down menu for ships:mad:

    chris

  14. thank you west aussie for the welcome..its 4 months till i we cruise hong kong to singapore ,counting down the days.i think me and the wife will do geminis tours at our ports of calls unless anyone think it not a good idea
