  1. I am a travel agent and have both sailed MSC ( twice on the Divina) and booked clients both with and without children.  School Breaks, Summer, and Holidays will have large numbers of children.  We sailed both for Spring Break and a summer cruise and yes there were a lot of children & teens (especially with the kids sail free program).  We loved the Divina - thought the food, entertainment,  and service was quite good.  If you are sailing off holiday and break dates - you should be fine....you should not have hoards of kids.  Yacht Club is wonderful - if you don't mind the extra cost.  My BFF, also a TA - and part owner of the agency, will only sail in the yacht club when she sails MSC - she said once you do, you can't go back.  (too expensive for me though)  My clients have all rebooked them also.   I cruise a lot - Princess, Royal, HAL, NCL, even Carnival - my experience on the Davina was equal to or better than most.  Only negative - and this was when they first started sailing in the US - and had not mastered the disembarkation ….it was quite a mess that first sailing, but was fine by the second time we sailed and no complaints from clients.  The Armonia is an older ship.....enough said

  2. Not sure how I missed this - all these years - but the fuel surcharge is one of those get out of jail free cards for cruise lines - in case oil prices suddenly go through the roof they have an escape clause to fall back on and tack an extra charge to your bill.....fortunately .....prices are on the down swing ( hey - does it work in reverse....can we have some money back?) fat chance.... But - I've yet to hear of it actually being used. Hope you had an awesome cruise four years ago - sorry I just saw this. My next big adventure is a river cruise with Amawaterways in November from Amsterdam to Basel! Hope the cruising bug has bitten you!

  3. 😄 we are stopping in Jacksonville tomorrow night - originally we were staying in Cocoa tomorrow night but DH cannot enter grades In until tomorrow morning - so we will just settle for lunch at Diixie Crossroads in Tittusville and a quick visit to National Seashore (love the animal viewing - we've seen wild boar, manatees, and a huge Bobcat - so big I thought he was a Florida Panther.... But the black on his tail gave him away. I grew up in Miami with Grandparents inTittisville - so I know the are well. Wish there was a rocket launch - they are amazing and everything shakes. Will spend last two days in Hollywood where I grew up. Gonna hit the race trAck - horses- Friday ( I love horse racing at Gulfstream! see you on Board😄

  4. Hi John,

If you luggage tags were not in the email -just pick some up Saturday when you arrive - the porters will have them - or will get them for you.

For Snorkeling in St. Maarten try: http://www.captainalan.com

The sailing race excursion is also top notch - but may be sold out.

Shopping is great in St Maarten

Mano beach is awesome - for a rush with the planes landing & good beach bars on either end

If this is your first visit to SJU either do the zip line/rainforest tour just explore the fort & town.....I would recommend the fort & old town for first time visitors.

Hope this helps - see you onboard - don't forget your beads😄

We're leaving Wednesday.afternoon....... .had to move it back a day so DH could input his semester grades - window doesn't open for grades until Wednesday morning......then we'll be off ( finally )

  5. Sorry others don't like Dixie Crossroads - but we do - been going for years ( and years) since my grandma lived in Tittusville. My own kids grew up stopping there every year on oun annual pilgrimage to Miami to visit my family..... Love the hush puppies & rock shrimp - will eat there again next week as we head south for our cruise.

  6. I'm on your sailing day too....21 more days til we sail. I would like to know if Crown Royal is on board?

I purchased 2 voucher packages. 18 vouchers for each of us for $84 each. Plus what we are bringing in our "rum runners"....we should be good.

    See ya soon!

Here's a link of the available drinks & liquor - it does show crown on the highest package - not sure if you can use vouchers for it

Getting VERY excited - sick of this weather ready for som sunshine! See you at the M&G

We have rum runners too ( awesome for cruises) not sure if we will bother with them since we have the unlimited package......but it is nice to have in the room

  7. this does sound great we'll be on the Getaway in st martin on 2/24, looking for a close by beach/rsts & maybe some shops.

you mentioned a water taxi, where do you get one of those & do you know if they accommodate elec scooters? thank you for any feedback you can offer

    thank you

I will see if I can find out about scooters when I go into the office today. As you leave your ship - follow the walkway and go left. There are signs pointing to the water taxi area - very close and convenient to where you disembark your ship. I will make some calls at work and find out the answer about scooters.:D

  8. We love going to Great Bay Beach - while it is not "beautiful" we always have a great day there. The beach and water are clean and so much to do right behind the beach. There are picnic tables up on the walkway - they may be associated with the multitude of bars & cafe's......but I know we have taken a seat there waiting for others. You could also just put your towels down on the sand - The beach chairs & umbrella rentals are such a bargain - $20 for the day - two chairs, umbrella, and a bucket of beers.....and the guy will keep bringing beer or beverages ( low cost ) as long as you want. We prefer to walk down a little - but the beach & sand is right there when you get off the water taxi dock. Great shopping, small casinos, and many cute bars & cafes right behind the beach. We now go to Great Bay every visit ( we have been to St. Maarten many times - so it is a good choice for our family - or just my DH & I.:D

  9. We always enjoy the casino - but I only play the slots....I just budget what I am willing to gamble/ lose as entertainment each day and stop if I hit that as a loss.....for me - it's just fun. Didn't win much last year - had better luck on other lines. I too suspect payoffs are better early in the cruise because they don't want you leaving the ship with a bunch of their money.....but that's just MHO. Lol

    :)

  10. We booked this package - or something similar last year and are bookings gain this time.....they keep changing the names of the packages but we had the unlimited package that was a little over $300 pp and we were pleased with the selections for beer, wine, and alcohol. I will see if I can find the list that shows what you can have ( brands ) with this package. If you only drink Gray Goose - or some other high brand - then you would need the highest package - but as I said - we were more than satisfied with the package and felt it was a good deal for us. We are on your sailing too.:)

  11. I agree - when we heard the rates we jumped at the chance to try her out.... MSC is trying to earn their place in the US cruise market ( although vast majority of passengers were European - and many doing B2B's. Thought the staff was quite friendly / even the Captain :-) afraid we won't see rates this low ever again - so grab them while you can :-)

  12. We were on the same cruise - and I totally agree - working on my lengthy review now. We ate dinner in the black crab every night - and thought most all was great .... Steaks were weak but everything else quite good. We did not try Specialty Restaurants - great Review

Will I recommend her to friends, family, and customers - ABSOLUTELY! :-). I promise a detailed review soon - just trying to catch up with everything right now - but my DH & I had a wonderful time!
