  1. I will be going to Alaska in September on the Princess Star. There is an excursion available to take a float plane into the Misty Fiords. My question is - what is the best time of day to go? They have tours leaving at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

Is there a difference if you go in the morning or afternoon?

    Thanks!!

  2. I have sailed once on Princess back in 2000 on the old Pacific Princess (The Love Boat:)) Since then I have mainly cruised Carnival. I don't want to start a discussion on which cruiseline is better, I just am looking for information on how Princess operates.

So far I have noticed that they still have the internet plans based on minutes. I'm hoping that will change to an unlimited package before I cruise (September 2018).

Are we allowed to take any alcohol on board? i.e. 1 bottle of wine?

Do they have a drinks package? and does everyone in the cabin have to buy it?

Do they have a wine package?

and any other type of information you can give me on embarkation/debarkation.

Also any info on the Star Princess would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  3. and to answer your question about keeping in touch (as opposed to a rude comment) yes, there are phones in each cabin, you would just dial their room number. They also have phones situated throughout the ship in the public areas that you can also use to call their cabins.

Carnival now has an app called Carnival Hub, that you can use. I'm not sure how it works though but it might be something you want to investigate.

  4. Last week we sailed on Celebrity Summit.

On Wednesday the port of call was Martinique.

We used Christelle Eugene from Karambole Tours for a day excursion.

    It was great.

    The itinerary was:

    1) Church of Sacred Heart ( on hill overlooking Fort De France modeled after the chuch at Montmarte in Paris)

    2) Rain forest

    3) Waterfall

    4) St Pierre ruins ( town destroyed by volcano in 1902. We visited the theater & prison (where the supposed only survivor from the catastrophe was housed))

    5) –rum factory and

    6) Finally an hour swimming in the sea at a beach near St.Pierre

    It was busy and terrific.

Christelle is a former English teacher who is starting her own independent tour company in Martinique.

The van only seats seven(7) so suggest if that you want to use Karambole for a day excusion off your cruise ship that you book early.

At every stop Christelle provided a sampling of local foods including pastries and other delights.

Her English is excellent & she accepts USD(cash) in addition to Euros.

Christelle is very knowledgeable about the island of Martinique & its history.

    Highly recommend Karambole tours.

Thanks for the review! Is there much walking involved? Some of my group have mobility issues.

  5. Why anyone even bothers to ask or quote heald on anything is mind boggling to me

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Why you feel the need to post something like this is mind boggling to me?? What's it to you if people ask him things or take his word for things??

I get it - you don't like him for one reason or another but why bad-mouth him and try and make others not like him as well?

  6. This will be my one post that will have some emotion attached. Since the announcement was made, there are many upset guests. The line to Guest Relations is very long. We have additional guest services staff from the Glory onboard and a second guest relations desk has been set up on deck 5. I personally feel that Carnival has gone above and beyond considering the situation. The full refund and 50% off a future cruise, not forgetting the OBC already received, has been more than generous. We will definitely sail Carnival again.

Exactly!! Good attitude and quite frankly the only one that should be taken by all the cruisers. As you say, Carnival has been more than generous and have taken good care of all the passengers. I applaud them and I applaud you! I also thank you for the accurate information and for keeping us informed. Unfortunately there will still be some negative comments and conclusions made by people. That appears to be human (greedy, world owes me) nature. :(

  7. Really?

Everytime I've seen someone mention messaging others on board, there has been a reply that they would have to buy the plan for every device.

But if it is unlimited devices- then you would only need 1 plan for your group.

    Can others confirm?

If you only bought one plan then you really couldn't message back and forth because only one of you could be logged on at a time. So, while you may be logged on and send a message, the other party wouldn't receive it until you logged off and then they logged on. If you each had a plan and were logged on all the time then the messages would go through right away.

  8. We were on the starboard side (right) and the exit to the outside deck was just past Guest Service (see red travel path showing cabin door to where we put a deck chair for lounging outside our cabin window). I think, the port side on Deck 3 may be one of the designated smoking areas, but I am not sure. So you may want to confirm before changing your cabins.

Thanks! I just googled it and yes the Port side of Deck 3 is smoking so I may ask for your exact cabin:) it is still available.
