  1. Don't assume that they will put one in the room, it's easy enough to request one beforehand and they will set it up for you. One tip is the cot mattress tends to be very firm, it's usually the flat board on a travel cot, in the past we have taken a cot bed duvet type cover and folded it up under the sheet to make it a bit softer for our little one.

There is warm cows milk at breakfast time close to the cereals not sure about later on in the day but if Indy still has kettles in the room you could boil water and sit a beaker/bottle of milk in some tupperware to take the chill off, depends how warm she likes it.

Also, if you have a room with a shower, take a little blow up bath/paddling pool, can be used as a bath and if you have a balcony a little splash pool out there :-)

  2. Will they let you book a balcony for 5? I think if they would it may be a squeeze too far. We travelled with a 1 yr old in a balcony and the cot was bigger than we thought, I think with 2x cots your 3.5 yr old would not be able to have the bed out and would need to sleep on the sofa. In my opinion is think stay were you are and enjoy the balconies when they are that bit older

  3. the staff in both the Concierge and diamond lounges were first class and no problems at all and always making us feel welcome but there were a select 2 or 3 groups of around 5 to 8 people all making a fuss and pointing at us , one particular couple (possible husband and wife ) stood right next to me at the bar in the diamond / Viking lounge and quite blatantly said out loud

" why are they in here they shouldn't be allowed " and in response I took out my gold card and twiddled it in my fingers so they could see I was entitled to drink in that venue in return I got

" ooh he's got a gold card tut tut tut probably hasn't cruised as much as we have "

You know it really did put me off ever attending this particular part of the ship again and we didn't re book another cruise as we normally do for the following year but I shouldn't really let this get too me or my family as there are some really genuine nice people who we met

That's sad :-( you can imagine the looks we got taking a toddler into the diamond lounge for our afternoon coffee on ovation recently. We were told by a fellow guest/lounge police just how exclusive the lounge was and we had obviously got lost 😐 much to his disappointment I politely explained that being diamond plus (my toddler is too 😉) we were well versed in the use of the diamond lounge but hadn't been in that often on ovation as the concierge lounge was much nicer 😁

  4. I cruised the week after we found out (about 6 weeks) much earlier than you, it was a 14 night to the norweigen fjords. On the 5th day the tiredness and nausea hit big time, not morning but evening sickness so I couldn't enjoy the lovely dinners. However the fresh sea air, lovely walks and not having to lift a finger for 2 weeks was ace. Think I would have been in better shape to go at 15 weeks as the sickness and tiredness had stopped by then ☺

  5. Hi, We are travelling on Anthem in June with our 13 month old, have cruised many times on RC but have never noticed what high chairs they use in the dining rooms. Has anyone got a photo of one or could describe them to me (specifically wanting to know do they have a tray attached or do they go up to the table.)

Also, has anyone ever requested a high chair in their cabin, my son is terrible for eating when there is too much going on so thinking a few quiet meals in the cabin may be needed and I don't really want to be taking our travel seat.

    Thank you :)

  6. Since the Canary Island are outside the EU VAT area, then the cruise is most likely VAT free once you are in international waters.

This is correct, people are getting confused between EU, the Eurozone and the VAT area. The Canary Islands are VAT free, therefore the ship's sales are VAT free in international waters. However with regards to the Spanish sales tax, the duty is charged when the ship is docked at a Spanish port or in spanish waters, i.e. if you buy a drink onboard while docked in a spanish port you will be charged 8% extra etc.

  7. We too are joining the December 13th Cruise. Getting excited. First time on a MEGA ship and it's the first time in several years that we are returning to RCCL.

As I'm reading on the boards, no more chocolate on your pillows?, $14.95 if you want steak... anyone thats been on the Indy what did you experience.

Looking forward to the meet and mingle.

Just got off the Indy and have been well and truly bitten by the cruising bug, will be writing a review but from our trip we had chocolates every night and there wasn't the option for a $14.95 steak on the menu... it certainly wasn't needed as the food was excellent. :)
