  1. I have only seen the penguins from Ushuaia (and Antarctica). We really enjoyed our Piratour to see the penguins from Ushuaia. It takes most of your day. We walked among magellanic and gentoo penquins and there were two stray king penquins there too.

Here are two email addresses to try. They are slow to respond but they did when I said I definitely wanted to make a booking. operaciones@piratour.net info@piratour.net

I have used both emails listed above and contacted them through their website with no luck yet! I was wondering what the cost of the tour was, since it is not listed on their website. While doing our planning, it would be nice to have a figure close to the cost. Thanks in advance!

  2. Hi, we are flying to Newark from FLL on a direct flight the morning of our cruise. We are due to arrive at 9:42 am. I have read that the cruise port is about 11 miles away. We are leaving and returning on a Sunday, so hopefully traffic will not be an issue. We are looking at a 12:08 pm flight back to FLL. We always do express walk off first thing with our luggage. I am hoping this will be enough time. Any input is appreciated! Thanks!

  3. We will be traveling with my 74 & 75 year old parents in a couple of weeks. They have said they are going to get in the water-not water people-in just one port. I want it to be the best experience it can be for them! This will be their last long trip and only opportunity in this part of the world. You can imagine my surprise when they showed me the snorkeling equipment they had gone out and bought. SO I need help in choosing the place for them to get in the water.

We are traveling to Lifou, Vila, Port Denarau, Suva, Savusavu, Dravuni Island and Noumea. In order of your preference based on your experience, please give me some input. THANKS so much for your time and help!

  4. Thank so much for all the tips! Yes, the roll call is very limited and not too many responses about what they are doing. I have asked!😳 i will keep the scam in mind while walking around. I will be checking Princess site as recommended to see what they offer and then do some research. Thanks again for the help!

  5. We are doing a 27 night B2B cruise in November. I have all my plans for NewZealand but have not done any for the South Pacific cruise. Is it ok to wing it and just grab tours as we get off the ship? I have done some research but don't get the feeling like it is necessary to pre-book tours. There are a couple ports where we can snorkle right off the ship, so we will be doing that. I am just getting nervous about not being so prepared. Thanks for your help!

  6. I have read a couple of posts about how great it is to visit the volcano. My question would be is it worth it on a cruise ship stop? Obviously, we wouldn't be able to be there at dusk.

I would also like to hear feedback about climbing the waterfalls and the rapelling down. Looks like a blast on Trip Advisor. The company is called Edge.

Any tips are appreciated. We will be traveling with my parents who are not into snorkling so suggestions about what to do with them would also be appreciated!;)

  7. Yes they do have afternoon tea. It is held in the main dinning room and is listed in the Patter. I'm sure it is only on sea days.

Scones, jam/jelly, little cakes and slices as well as a variety of 1/4 sized sandwiches are available.

I hope your Mother enjoys it. You get to sit with other people if you choose and enjoy some fine conversation from fellow cruisers.:)

Karryl, thanks so much! She really enjoys this and is very excited that it will be offered!;)

  8. Thanks for the response! I have tried finding them on line through a google search but nothing comes up! Any suggestions are appreciated! Traveling with my parents who are in their 70s and dad is worried about the menus of all things!

  9. Cab - cash

Small food items - cash (eg take-away)

Dining out - Debit or credit card

Hotel - Debit or credit card.

ATM - keep $50-$100 with you for incidentals

Are you on the Diamond around Australia?

No, we are sailing on the Sun to New Zealand and then to Fiji and the South Pacific.

    Thanks everyone for the info!

  10. We will be sailing with Princess for 27 nights in November. Usually you register a credit card for onboard expenses. Does Princess charge the 1-1.5% credit card fee for onboard purchases? As far as paying for a cab, food, hotel and any entertainment for the 2 days before the cruise, what do you suggest as far as paying for those items? Is it best to go to an ATM and withdraw cash? Thanks for the help!
