We just returned from the Bliss. The pools were used the first sea day and that was basically it. Some people braved the cold weather on the last day. I brought along some long sleeve shirts to wear on the ship and never wore them. I only wore shorts on the first day (Sunday) , but some people wore shorts for most of the cruise

Glad you enjoyed your cruise. Which nights are formal?
Thanks

Can you tell which nights are formal? Thanks!

My first cruise was over 30 years ago and I can tell the quality of service has gone down hill. Last year we had a very good experience on the Allure, and last week we had a poor experience on the Jewel. However, we had a good time overall thanks to the ports and the great people we met on board. I read many of the reviews about the Jewel before we left and they were correct. Such as (to name a few) the main shows were horrible, and the food was nothing to write home about. We still choose that cruise because of the itinerary. However, I wish I would have listened to the reviews and choose another ship. There are some people that think cruising is the greatest, and no matter what happens there ok with it, and there are others that expect an experience.

Looking for fellow cruisers to join us on a tour in St Croix. We are going with Prince of Heritage Safari Tours around the island hitting the highlights (Cruzan Rum Tour, Rainforest, drinking pigs, Sandcastle Beach and more). This tour is highly recommended on CC post! Come join us!

Tried it last week. Was different, food was OK not great, but the MDR food was the probably the worst we ever had on 10 plus cruises.

Don't get me wrong, we did not let Soot stop us from having a good vacation. I just wanted to make others aware that this can happen to you in an "S" class aft cabin. It definitely depends on the wind direction as I mentioned the one day there was a strong cross wind and there was little to no Soot. I did post the pictures to show that the Soot is real and can happen!

Just returned from the 3/30/14 sailing on the Silhouette and I wanted to warn fellow cruisers about the aft cabins. We booked late and the only available balcony cabins were #9305 aft or a cabin all the way forward. Since we never had an aft balcony we decided to go with it. What a major mistake! The balcony was covered in Soot almost the entire trip. The pictures attached were taken only 3 hours after the balcony was cleaned! When we first arrived I went on the balcony and leaned over the railing and my shirt got a black greasy stain across it. Our chairs were covered in soot and of course the floor was covered. When the smoke trail from the stacks ran straight back the balcony got covered in soot. When there was a cross wind (which was only one day) it was not to bad.
However, Soot is not the only problem. There is no roof, so there is no protection from the sun. The balcony is in full sun except for early in the morning and late in the afternoon. At night I like to stand on the balcony and look at the stars, can't do that on this balcony because the sky is covered in smoke. The other obvious disadvantages are; long walk to stairs, vibrations, and increased movement.
I hope this will help others from making the same mistake. I will be posting a review of the ship within the next day or two. Please feel free to ask any questions in the mean time.

Just returned from the Silhouette, and we did try the Tuscan Grill. We thought the food was good not great. My steak was a good cut of meat, but they smothered it with spices. I remember the days when the meals you received in the MDR was as good as what we had in the Tuscan Grill. Now, sadly the quality of the food in the MDR has dropped considerably so you have to pay extra to get a good meal. We were really disappointed with the quality of the food on the Silhouette. More in my review which I will post later.

Thanks for the review, we leave this Sunday on the same itinerary. One question, which nights were formal?

Thanks for the review! We leave on the Silhouette this Sunday, can't wait.

Thanks for the the review! I will be traveling on that cruise next week. Did you take any good tours, or hear of any?

Good to know thanks!

I have some questions for those who have recently returned from the Eastern Caribbean. Are the ships educating passengers about the Virus? Does anyone know of a cruise ship passenger being affected with the virus?
I don't know how concerned or not I should be, we are leaving on the Silhouette 3/30/14. Thanks for any information.

I recently booked the Silhouette for March 23, and the only documents to print were the Xpress Pass and the Guest Ticket Booklet.
-
Ok thanks. Do you what time the earliest people got off the ship? I have an early return flight.

Thanks for the review. I will be traveling on the Sihouette March 23. I am currently booked in cabin 7175, I noticed there are still some aft balcony's available. The current cabin I have is mid ship convenient to the stairs. The aft cabin would be great but long walk everytime you leave the cabin. Any thoughts?

I am traveling on the Silhouette on March 23, 2014. Just decided to go and booked it a couple of days ago. The only flight I could get home from FLL without getting slaughtered on price or frequent flier miles leaves at 9:45. For those of you who have returned on the Silhouette in Fort Lauderdale what do you think my chance are to make that flight?
Thank you for your thoughts!
