  1. we were a group of 16, a few newbies and most veteran cruisers....we all enjoyed the Divina very much.

We ate dinner in the MDR the Black Crab and barring small glitches, no real complaints on the menu and the food, I enjoyed the salmon so much, had it several nights...sirloin and prime rib had by other family members were good.

Bravos to the opera performances....wish the hot tubs were warmer but we enjoyed them....would definitely sail the Divina again, overall we all had a very good experience with MSC Divina.....

  2. Thank you for this added info cruisetrail...this is all so very helpful and encouraging as we approach our cruise...this was a guarantee balcony...I know the cruise bug will bite my son-in-law after this first cruise....:D:D

  3. I treated my daughter and son-in-law to 11086 as an anniversary present....can anyone please let me know it's dimensions? It's a B2 and on the deck plans looks like a good size balcony....thanks in advance....it will be son-in-laws first cruise and they are both excited :D

  4. Adding my *smile* :D at how things worked out for you Daniel, and admiration for Susan Stephens @ RCCL for combining humanity with customer service, proving the two can co-exist in the same entity and that customer service is not always leaning to adversarial just because of some money and who is right or wrong.

There seemed to be a good bit of over-thinking in this thread over legal and financial rights and wrongs...*sigh* sometimes I guess there is the tendency to be just too smart to be empathetic.....too technical to just root for a fellow cruiser to take his family on a nice 1st vacation for them altogether which suits them as best as it can....

seems RCCL has customer reps like Susan who don't have "fine print-ed" brains and allow for doing what makes human sense.....people sense....family sense

I've sailed with them twice now, enjoyed the cruises....and have encountered that "brick wall" type of customer service with them once.....now I am encouraged to sail with them again and will be checking out cruises with them....hopefully if I have any issues I will encounter a "Susan" to at least listen to me and be human to human with me....I don't mind taking a hit of some sort, I can be wrong, make mistakes in vacation planning (have done).....

just have to comment on the poster who shook a typed finger at last minute booking and traveling.....and I am a long in advance type A person....I have two words about your post

Are you for REAL? (ok that was four words LOLOLOL)

    Happy cruising Daniel......:)

  5. Wow, you really are sleepless in New Jersey over this stressful nightmare. I'm glad you are explaining your thinking process and ethics also. I understand more from your perspective now and can empathize more.

I admire how you are trying everything to make this right for you and not giving up and I think we can all understand the feelings when hard earned money is involved and form replies are just given. FRUSTRATING to say the least when all you want is everybody on the same side...

you were willing to pay their price and you just wanted them to give you a fair product. It should have been win-win on both sides instead of how it's turning out to be.....

hoping for the BEST for you on this

  6. OP I know you are trying hard to get a better cabin....I hope you get what will suit you best....

after trying all you can, and if you can't change, I hope you enjoy your cruise....lining up pros and cons on a paper it looks like going ahead on the cruise it the best workable option even with the cabin you have given all the facts you have posted....

by now you have probably calmed down and I hope your not happy wife is too....if it seems like you will be going forward on your cruise in 1377 you will get your money's worth better making the most of the cabin assigned

I would be upset also....but then I let that go when it becomes counter-productive...

Congrats on the first year with your daughter and have a relaxing and good cruise :)

  7. OP, you have my sincere admiration for posting this very costly travel loss....I know you know this but just to say it again, so glad your mom is well and better....that is of course the main thing....everything else you can get more of including lessons learned

we just were in Europe for a land trip, a week in Athens and a week in Paris and as soon as we landed in Paris our passports were stolen and my netbook damaged by the airline baggage system....just got back last night, called the main travel insurance company today and no coverage for passports but perhaps reimbursement for the computer....

I usually do not use travel agents but this trip was a mix....I used a travel agent for the transatlantic flights and one hotel and did the european flight and other hotels on my own....

I will be calling my CC company also since I used one that does offer travel insurance also which was a back up....

my financial loss of course if pittance with the magnitude of yours, please accept my thanks for the post and my commiseration for all you loss and experienced....better times and better travels ahead to you and your family :)

  8. Dear itsnowjoke, I will spare you one more comment....it's not your opinion that is lacking O Cruising One, it's your laughable lack of substance and immature approach to cruising....I hope for your sake this does not characterize your approach to life's other doings....

These come across as very fishy, not credible....... and why would your lack of help getting a visa for your travels by a cruiseline affect your actual cruise? Have you not dealt with rude people before in life? If so, it really had this much affect on you? Aren't you the one responsible for getting your own required travel documents? You want me to believe that notably clean pool area one day was reeking???

During a pre-trip issue with obtaining a Brazilian Visa, we sought advice and help from MSC. I was told to talk to or email several people within the company. No one returned my emails, and the one guy that I did talk to was very rude. Although I talked to him kindly, it was obvious that his rudeness was a coping mechanism for his incompetence.

The pool area was clean and chairs were always available, which was a pleasant surprise. One day the pool was yellow and it reeked of having not been cleaned. But I've occasionally seen that on other cruise brands as well, no harm, no foul. Only it was foul, ha ha

Seriously!!! ok I will stop there because in fact your entire "review" lacks real weight and substance and as I read it, it looked like a lot of smoke and mirrors....I would give weight where it was due but your "evidence' is puny and whiny and gives me no real facts to make anything of....

I am not one lead by silly words or emotional outbursts when I am looking for facts to help me plan my travels.....

lastly you make my point by your subsequent post and gave me more laughs when you posted this:

    Whatever! (rolls eyes)!
