Spiegel Tent is a dying venue. On the Getaway, the Illusionarium is used for small special events, private gatherings, a sketch comedy show, smaller musical shows and an escape room. It is being converted to Q at the next dry dock, and I would imagine the Spiegel tent will get a similar treatment.

We sail on the Breakaway in two weeks and in reviewing Dailies, posted last week, I saw "Broadway, 80's Edition" had 3 performances in Spiegel.

Back on ship wifi. Maya Chan was great. Transportation back to the ship was waiting for us when we got to the bar at 12:25 for our 12:30 departure. They asked if I wanted a beer for the cab ride. Duh!  So they gave me 2.

Maya Chan hit the spot for our family. I enjoy drinking beer and fruity drinks, but I don’t really enjoy partying, if that makes sense. You won’t find me doing the limbo, dancing, hooting and hollering, etc etc. I never had an empty beer today, I never felt the need to do anything I didn’t want to do and the food was darn good!

The staff was always there but never imposing. We’ll certainly be back. There’s always hesitation for our booking outside of the cruise line….I know I know, we’re missing out….but there was zero concern today doing it.

Just got off the Epic. Had unlimited Internet. Never ran a speed test, but videos and TV shows streamed perfectly without any latency. Who cares what the speed 9s when that happens. People running speed tests are just looking for reasons to complain.

Wow, the OP is spending his personal time providing a service, there was nothing detrimental or derogatory in his post, just Wow, Why?

We were on this cruise in March. Same ship, same itinerary, same cabin class. But we definitely did not get any free bags of laundry! I’m thinking it might be because of your latitudes level? I don’t think it’s because of your cabin category.

We've sailed Breakaway and other NCL ships in Club Balcony.  Club Balcony includes one bag of laundry at no charge, not related to tier.  Thanks,  Robert

  5. We just got off the Dawn yesterday and I cannot say enough great things. My husband and I have cruised Princess and Royal and the other couple with us have went on almost every line a couple of times. All 4 of us were beyond impressed with the ship, the staff, the shows, and the food. When I booked this trip I read all the reviews and almost changed ships. I am so glad I did not. A trip is what you make it and yes ours was not perfect, we lost water pressure and hot water twice when I was in the shower. However, the staff worked diligently as quick as they could to fix it even checking back with us numerous times to make sure it worked. Our room steward new our names on day one before we introduced ourselves and the staff went out of their ways to get to know us. The passengers were also very friendly. I would recommend NCL to anyone.

Good for you, I'm glad you had a great time. I can hardly wait until next Sunday when it's our turn!

  6. If you have ever heard someone say that once you try a Suite on NCL you will never go back.

For me it proved to be true and I will book a Suite whenever I can.

The Suite Life begins at the terminal. A separate check-in line, private lounge, and escorted boarding either straight to your cabin or to Moderno / Cagneys for lunch.

I've taken full advantage of the Upsell fairy / department on previous cruises.

My advice is to book a cabin that you'll be happy in. Try to upsell and if, what is offered is in your budget, take it.

If not, be happy with what you have booked.

We had originally booked a Family Suite w/balcony on deck 12. In fact ours would have been 2 cabin aft of the cabin TheDougOut reviewed.

We booked almost 2 years ahead of sailing. Before the "Free at Sea" for everyone and changes to Suite pricing.

With the Suite we booked our perks were the "Real" UDP, UBP, Service Charge, and $250.00 OBC.

All for a price of what NCL is now asking for Mini-suites or Aft balconies.

Three weeks prior to our sailing one of the Garden Villas was still available. I thought "what does it hurt to call and ask?"

It worked.....I'll just say that my wife and I shared a three bedroom Villa.....for what was within my established budget.

This just turned into a "Once in a Lifetime" cruise.

I don't think I'll be able to work the deal we got again. I know I could never afford this cabin again at full price.

SO MAY I PRESENT. PART 1 OF THE "VILLAS" PORTION OF THE TITLE

Boarding from the VIP lounge at the Julia St. Terminal.

Ever wanted to know what it's like to be the first passenger on the ship?

Watch this video and look for my wife pushing past the camera to be the first "dinged aboard".

    Once in a lifetime!!!!

Good for you, we were able to take advantage of a "once in a lifetime" opportunity on the Jewel, in 2014 - sharing a Garden Villa with great friends. Actually they got on when you got off staying in a GV on the Dawn, Jan 15 - 22.

We did an upsell on the Pearl in the summer of 2015, to a Haven Penthouse, for Alaska - heavenly, and then last October we were lucky to get a great upsell to a DOS on the Epic out of Barcelona. The NCL Suites will definitely spoil you but for our Dawn cruise on Feb 5, we are staying in our Mini and I didn't even try for an upsell even though many of our fellow cruisers got some great upsells over the last 2 weeks!

Again, looking forward to your review!

  7. Oakman58,

Thanks so much for posting the dailies - we're on the Feb 20 sailing and having current Dailies is fantastic!

Also, have to give you props one more time for pic caption of the year - "Long about 8:00 here came the Dawn waltzing into the harbor like she owned it. She was a sassy gal and was wearing a grin on her bow that ran from port to starboard. Apparently she had pier priority over the Jade and was proud of it."

    Take care,

    Robert

  8. It won't be open in February, those of us with February cruises got changed back to Belize City. Pretty disgusted with the excursion choices as there are only a few being offered. Mostly the cave tubing and zip lining. Been there done that.

    Hi Tammy,

When were you notified about not going to Harvest Caye? We are the Jade, a week later, and haven't seen that change yet. The last notice I saw referenced opening on Feb 16th.

    Thanks,

    Robert

  9. We've been on three cruises as returning Latitudes members, and have come away three times without any ship pins.

    We'll ask this time. :)

Similar here, Silver, 4th NCL cruise next week, no pins on previous cruises - guess I'll need to ask, too!

  10. Out of the Gulf and into international waters.

This has been true on CCL and RCCL out of New Orleans but we sailed the Jewel out of New Orleans, last October, and the casino opened shortly after we sailed. They seem to operate more like land-based casinos as the also issue a 1099-G for jackpots over $1,200.00.

BTW, we are sailing the Jewel again on Mar 2 - see you on board.
