  1. oh my....never been on Silverseas - we join the Wind in Amsterdam on July 10th - but based on this review I have fingers crossed that it is a good cruise.  We once did Crystal and loved the smaller boat - so thought we would give SS a try.

So far I have heard - bad food, bad entertainment, uninterested CD, bad weather, missed/late ports, and the highlight of each day is trivia?

Hope we haven't wasted our hard earned $$.

  2. We will be on the Symphony docking in Cozumel next Wed March 27th.

Looking for someone to share a trip on CozumelSailing dot com.

They have a min of 6 - and we are a family of 4 (Mom, Dad and 2-17yr olds).  We have done this sail before and enjoyed it - so hope to do it again.

Please respond ASAP if you are interested.

    Thanks!

    Ira

  3. The "downside" to cruising is trying new foods. 🙂

We have been cruising with our kids since they were 3 - and they try everything (because, heck, it's "free").

Things they have first tried on cruises include Sushi, frogs legs, escargot, lobster, caviar, clams casino etc.

The downside is that they loved most of it - so now that they are 17, we can't keep the bankroll up with the eating habits! 🙂

    Hence the "downside".

  4. Have your travel agent call Royal. I just checked and a balcony cabin 2D for 2 people is $2764. See if they will allow you to get 2 cabins without any penalties. It would only be an extra $64 and you would get double the space, 2 bathrooms and a proper bed for all.

Did your travel agent suggest getting 2 cabins (they should have) it is usually comparable in price to fitting 4 in one room.

100% agree - this is a no-brainer! And will make you feel much better about the costs.

  5. Been on a ton of lines/cruises. Upcoming on X, so this is simply an opinion. Celebrity is not the right line for kids. My closest comparison would be Princess, which we did with tweens once - and never again. RCI, Carnival, NCL, and of curse Disney (which we would NEVER spend the money on, since we live in FLA and can see Micky whenever....) offer far more activities, shows, events, food, etc. that cater to the family traveler. Ice shows, climbing walls, water slides, parades, "burger joints", etc.

  6. We will be in port from 2-10 on XMASS eve.

Family of 4 (Mom, Dad - twin 13yr olds)

Was thinking beach for a few hours, then back to the ship to change/dinner then a walk through town.

    Does this work?

    Recommendation on nice beach?

We are open to other recommendations if you have one.....please advise.

    THANKS!

  7. Great cruise!

Family of 4 Mom dad and some pre-teens - all had a great time.

MDR - still don't like the food...everything is fried or covered in thick sauces...always trouble trying to find simple good fare.

    Loved the sushi.

The piano bar was good for one night - then it became repetitive.

Loved the guitarist by the pool. Was ok with the DJ - but still would rather live music.

Did not like the main shows at all - Where were the live musicians? the grand costumes? The great dancing ( or magic or circus acts) that we have come to expect from Carnival? Watching cartoon characters sing to me, or obvious lip syncing is just disappointing. It used to be that there was entertainment non-stop at night...now it is hit or miss....

Overall a great cruise...can't wait to go again.

  8. We always ask for a side serving of anchovies to put into the salad. We like the Caesar salads.

Us too!!! We ask for a side bowl of the fishies - and after the first day, they are usually waiting for us.

My parents and friends thought we were nuts...and then they started doing it :)
