  1. Both are megaships, so specialty dining and entertainment reservations open 120 days prior to departure. Book exactly 120 days out to get your preferred times.

    No USB ports.

No FTTF. General boarding starts around 11:15-11:30 as soon as the prior cruise gets to a zero count. Buffet is open at 11:30 as well as O’Shehans grill. MDR opens at noon.

water slides (and ropes course on BA) are open until 1 hour prior to muster.

Lots of luggage space under beds.

Security. Followed by a check in line. Swipe passport, take security phot, submit healthy questionaire and you get your room keys. Easy.

    Thank you!

  2. Good morning!

DH and I have 11 cruises under our belts, mostly Carnival but we’ve decided to ‘jump ship’ to NCL.

We are booked on the Epic in February 2019 and the Breakaway in January 2020.

We’ve YouTubed the ships and we are super excited.

Any must-do’s for these ships? Any seasoned NCLers have some GREAT tips for a newbie?

My empty luggage fits under the bed on Carnival, will it on NCL? Are outlets limited on these ships? Last Carnival Cruise was the Vista. USB ports were built into the one and only outlet on the desk. Do the Epic and Breakaway have this?

On Carnival we’ve paid for FTTF to get an early boarding time. I know NCL doesn’t do this. Both NCL cruises are out of Port Canaveral, tell me about the check-in/boarding process.

Any other tips/tricks you can think of would be appreciated.

    TIA

  3. I thought the same thing actually... but wonder if they are going to add on the 18% too? I mean the $2 per item? My fiancee gets cereal and milk for his midnight snack... that could get costly for something we thought was going to be free when we booked.

Why not grab cereal and milk and spoons and bowls from the Lido buffet in the morning? No cost, no tip, no problem.

  4. Sailing on Carnival for the second time in Nov, first w/ the Cheers! program (had several times on RCI).

I was looking at the 'fine print' of the program and it states that all cans and bottles will be served open. In your experience, are bottles really opened? Was hoping to grab some for excursions/beach days.

Also, can you order an alcoholic drink w/ a bottle of water at the same time or is there still a 5 min wait? Not looking to skim or cheat, I just like to bring my own water enhancers to make my own cocktails w/ vodka (Arnold Palmers anyone?! :) )

Yes, they open the ‘bottled’ beer. You can only get one - no buckets.

Bottled water is not served open. And yes, you can get the bottled water WITH your alcoholic drink.

  5. I currently have FTTF which puts me in priority for dining requests. If I get accepted for the 6pm dining (I am currently on a waitlist for it), and I cancel FTTF after getting my chosen time, will I be put back onto the waiting list?

FTTF does not give you priority dining for the MDR - it’s for the pay-dining.

Chances are you won’t know if you’ve got the 6pm dining until you get on the ship.

  6. I sailed 9 months post-op. Bring your shakes (I assume Premier) in cartons and that’s fine. No need to contact special needs. Order fish without sauce. Or share with your significant other. You’ll only need/want a bite or two.

Go and enjoy. A cruise is NOT all about the food. Don’t panic.

  7. Your room will be ready at 130, so not much gain there. Excursions will cancel out priority tendering, if you are going to a tender port.all that's left is getting off the ship a little quicker... I wouldn't worry about it. Either way, happy sailing!

If you purchase FTTF, your cabin will be ready befor 1:30.

  8. Just a thought/question: a few have suggested that if Carnival were to do a western itinerary vs an eastern, it would be cheaper and therefore, the passenger should get a refund. So based on that suggestion, if your eastern itinerary would be changed to a more expensive southern itinerary, you'd be more than willing to pay the additional upcharge?

  9. If you call Carnival I have heard of waitlist type of FTTF lists that they keep for last minute fills. Not sure but you could call your PVP and try to see if they can help out at all getting this added for them.

Carnival BDM said last week at a luncheon I went to that there are no more waitlists for FTTF.

    Just keep checking.

  10. Not sure where you are trying to go with this, but since you didn't open up the FAQ about an "A" boarding pass being guaranteed (like you stated above), here is what it says:

Will EarlyBird Check-In Customers get an "A" Boarding Pass and be among the first to board? While EarlyBird Check-In doesn't guarantee an A boarding position, it improves your seat selection options to help you get your favorite seat.

As I said, it does not automatically check you in with an "A".

Never mind. You aren't worth my time. You should, however, learn not to be so rude.

I responded kindly to the OP and that is what's important. She is a big girl and can see where to go to get the FAQs for early bird without you being so darn rude to me.

    Good day.

  11. This is wrong. The Early Bird will NOT guarantee you an "A" boarding group. What it does is check you in at 48 hours before the flight, instead of 24. Also, the Early Birds are checked in by the order that they were bought. If 75 people bought early bird ahead of you, you aren't in the "A" group. I bought it for a trip in May about 6 weeks ahead of time and was in the low "B"s at boarding.

  12. Went to southwest to look and they don't have flights on schedule yet for when I'm wanting to go so I'll have to check back later. But do you know what the Wanna Get Away fare means? It is considerably lower looking month before I want to go.

The Wanna Get Away fare is the cheapest. You can do that and get early bird for $15/per person at least for the way back. Then you don't have to mess with checking in until you get into port on debarkation day. It will automatically check you in with an A boarding pass.

  13. Has anyone done flights through Carnival? I typically hate to fly and normally drive when I cruise, but wanting to do a cruise on the Vista out of Miami and the last time I drove to FL (I like in MO) I thought never again until I plan to take days getting there.

I understand Carnival does flights now and has an insurance guarantee to the flights getting you there on time include in the price. If seems about 60 dollars more than what I'm finding online now myself without insurance.

What has your experiences been with this?

We fly out of MCI to FLL on Southwest the day before, much cheaper than Carnival and even the cost of hotel and Uber/Lyft is still less than what Carnival charges. And I have complete control of my flights. I choose a 1 pm or later flight home. Works just fine.
