  1. Has anyone heard if Carnival is sending a 3rd ship to Australia

On the official government site for which ships will be in port, next year Carnival has June/July/August booked with no ships name, The Spirit and The Legend already have their own slots

    thanks

  2. Any word of the Panama Canal transit itinerary?

No sorry...phoning from Australia I try not to spend too long on the phone but it took some time to get confirmation of the itinerary which I posted on the other board going.. It might help if we can combine them or just use one

Maybe I might start one on the legend board

I didn't think of that leg as I would only be doing the 2nd part ... It's about time they settled it all but pricing now would be good

  3. Donna,

I cruise solo, and was on the Spirit last year to Oz. I sprung for a balcony and the final price went down 1000k by sail date. I had $600 OBC on this leg alone.

I won't do a balcony this time, but will probably do a 4K..I figure when a couple sails, it still comes out of the same pocket, but they pay tips, excursions, and everything else for 2, so paying the cabin alone for double doesn't bother me to much. My total bill still ends up being a lot less than most couples. LOL

I've also cruised twice solo as my husband hates cruising..,, he gave in and did the 17 days on the spirit last year (i had to pay to get him to come) but he got sick half way through with the flu and spent most of his days in the cabin so that's it he won't go again

If I go on this cruise it will be solo although I have friends who are doing it for the 2nd time as well

  4. A stop in Ensenada only would work if it was a round trip from a westcoast US port. Ensenada is not considered a "distant" foreign port.

That rule is so confusing .. I know I've read all about it as we were caught up in it 2 years ago when sailing from Hawaii to Alaska.. Many people had to leave the ship as it was a B2B cruise but somehow they considered Vancouver not a foreign port so could not continue onto Alaska

Patrick, click on the picture to see it better.

**Rant** Why can't I embed the picture, I've done it before, but today it's not working. **End Rant**

Anyway, you can view my pictures by clicking the link under my countdown.

    Hi Carynh

What a fabulous day Patrick's tours was least of all the renewal of Annie's vows.

I need a lesson on cruise critic as I'd love to embed some my photos as my pictures taken at that bbque are some of the best I've taken and the photos of the sharks amazing.. I still can't believe I got in the deep water outside the break to snorkel with those large sharks swimming on the ocean floor.. I knew they weren't dangerous but still living in Australia we have a healthy attitude to sharks!!!.

And snorkeling in the underground garden was so beautiful..I'd do it again in a heartbeat

But I also had the most amazing time on my Mediterranean cruise in may on the legend .. Wow I have been so fortunate

The fun part of living in a different time zone means I turn on my ipad and have all these comments to read.. It's like connecting with friends

  6. Listed as 17, but actually 16 since we lost a day crossing International Date Line.

I'm going to throw my guess in and say Tampa to LA area (or San Diego), then Westcoast port to Sydney, with a couple of stops in Hawaii.

I'm in Vegas right now, and keep checking daily for news.

I hope your guess is wrong otherwise we miss out :-(

Yes I keep checking too.. Hurry up carnival, I have a trip to Disneyland to plan for the grand kids and that was to be in September.. And we are also coming to Vegas with a 9, 7, 5, 4 & 1 year old... Yippee

  7. Dianne, it was just wishing thinking on my part. As you said, Carnival knows that they need the guests from Australia and New Zealand for the cruise to Australia so I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

Somehow the cruise to Australia will be from Hawaii. What we are all speculating on is how Carnival is going to get from Tampa to Hawaii in 21 days. We know it will take 17 days to get to Australia from Hawaii. After all, there weren't that many ports of call last year on the Spirit. It was mostly sea days but we needed those days to cover the distance.

It would be nice if they change it up a little from the Spirit's itinerary last year. Quite a few of us want to go again so it would be nice to have a variety of ports to go to.

Maybe this is why it is taking Carnival so long to release the news as they need to secure all the ports before announcing the itineraries.

Hi Mary... When I did this cruise on the sun princess we had 6 ports of call in 18 days.. Vanuatu, Cook Islands and Tahiti so obviously not as many sea days as the spirit... But I agree a couple more stops thn what we had on the spirit would be good especially if they cross off Suva

I'd love to have the time to travel from Tampa via the Panama Canal.. That would be awesome but I'm surprised that so many Americans who did the trip last time would like to repeat considering the high cost of air fares back home and as you know Australia is not a cheap destination

Ah well we just have to wait

    Dianne

  8. Mary, I like your thinking. I was hoping for a few stops in South America also. If Carnival has similar ports, I think it would be done in 2 cruises though.

That will kill us Aussies if they don't go via Hawaii as that's where the majority of us would join the ship

I have noticed some are adding a stop in New Zealand as opposed to Suva which would be great as Suva is not very exciting... Neither by the way is Papeete ... I've done this route twice, once Sydney to Hawaii via Tahiti and then the spirit last year Hawaii to Sydney...

As half the guests last year were from Australia and New Zealand, I'd be surprised if they gave up that part of the market

I'm surprised they are taking so long as the spirit has its schedule up till 2015

    Hurry up carnival.

  9. It's nearly 11AM here (7/5/13) in Tampa Bay.

Thanks for bookmarking my review; it took twice as long to write as compared to the actual cruise itself! In fact it was two months ago today that we set sail from Venice.

I'm not so sure that Carnival will not ever be returning to Europe, in fact once the new Carnival Splash is built she will be touring the Mediterranean.

As for the travel time from Tampa Bay to Hawaii the time is generally around 11 hours; 3 to Houston and then 8 to Honolulu.

Just curious as to which port you did not enjoy?

As for the delay in posting, it all comes down to logistics and time tables so we will all have to wait just a little bit longer.

Sorry I meant sailing time as I'm trying to work out what possible date it will be sailing from Hawaii to Sydney

The port we didn't enjoy was Olibia in Sardinia... I don't think you went there .. We did a carnival tour to maddalena island which sounded great but was a waste if a day.. The ferry was a car/people ferry, and the drive around the area was not that great and we stopped for lunch and had 20 minutes to order, eat and get back on the ferry.. Not good

    Dianne

  10. True but it looks like September (2014).

It's 1 am here in Australia but I've bookmarked your review and as I was on the cruise straight after up yours out if Barcelona, I look forward to reliving my trip

Wasn't it a fantastic cruise??? I loved all the ports except for one and am so sorry carnival is discontinuing their European cruises as I would have done it again

As it seems like you are going to travel on the legend from Tampa, how long will it take to get to Hawaii ... The dates seem pretty tight if its to be in Sydney for the commencement of its cruises in September

Can't understand why the delay, my friend checks 3 times a day she's so keen

    Dianne

  11. Deb, I'm hoping the Panama Canal cruise will go Tampa to Hawaii.. They don't leave a lot of days to do anything else...Dennis

Does anyone know how long it takes to cruise from Tampa to Hawaii.. As said there isn't a lot of time if the scheduled cruises finish on the 17/8 at Tampa and the cruise commencing in Sydney on the 23rd/24th September ... Hurry up a there are at least 12 of my friends wanting to cruise and I know others who will join when we know the cost

It's disappointing that there aren't cruise bookings now in the ships as I was in the legend in may in the Mediterranean but no one knew any details about its relocation to Sydney

Anyone have a line to carnival ????

    Dianne

  12. Dennis,

By the time they post the Australia itinerary, I hope Early Saver will still be in effect..LOL

Hi Dianne...hope to see you again on the Australia leg.

For those of you wanting to take the Legend through the Panama Canal, it is a great trip. Several of us cruised the Elation from San Diego to Mobile in 2010. I won't be flying to the Eastcoast to do it again, but it's definitely worth it for those that have never done it before.

    Hi Deb

Yes it would be great to see some familiar faces from the last cruise.. Wish they would announce the dates as I am taking my grandkids to Disneyland next year and we were considering September but we may have to change our travel plans

    Dianne

  13. Hi all

I was also on the repositioning cruise last year on the spirit from Hawaii to Sydney so hello to those who also cruised

I was also on the legend in may out of Barcelona to Venice and had a great time

Several of my friends here in Australia are awaiting details of the repositioning cruise but nothing is avavilable yet

If you check out carnival, it now has cruises listed for the legend out of Tampa up to the 10/8/2014 for 7 nights

It is due to start cruising out of Sydney on the 24/9 so I can't see where it will be dry docked for the changeover ... There are some dates in February but that seems a bit in advance

    just a matter of waiting

    Dianne
