  1. One one cruise, I ran into an ex-girlfriend. That was awkward. Fine, but awkward.

On another we ran into some friends from home who we knew were going to be on there, but didn't know if we would see them. We ended up seeing them at least once a day, and being the first to know they had gotten engaged, since they couldn't get in touch with anybody else. Thought that was pretty cool.

  2. We will be sailing into St. Lucia in Dec and may be consider booking a tour with James. Questions include: where did you go (which tour did you book) ? Price per person? How many in your party? Was there a lot of walking?

    Thanks for your reply!

We went to the mudbaths, waterfall, the banana plantation, through Anse La Raye. We saw a lot (I have a lot of pictures on my Flickr, just scenery I don't post of people often) and he makes a lot of stops at overlooks. Desiree took our camera and got a ton of pictures of us and for us at stops as well. I would say my favorite part was the little extras... He stopped and got some bread from a local baker that was amazing, popped open a coconut for us to try, and stopped and picked fresh fruit. Really cool way to sample the local flavor.

Our tour was $65 per person. There were two of us. There was not much walking at all. Hope that helps!

  3. Hey. Is this Brian, the guy that took some of our pictures with our camera as we didn't have the correct angle out our window? I believe I still owe you a rum punch.

I agree with your comments that the tour was a great deal for only $25 pp for all of the places we visited, the beer, water, and rum punch being included. I think that we did get a discount as it would have been $35 pp if we didn't fill the van. Our driver was very good at pointing out the highlights along the way as well. I am glad you made the best of the situation being crammed until Amy opted to sit on the cooler to make room. I believe I owe her a rum punch now too.

Nope, this is ricky, amy's husband. I was on the non-picturesque side of the van. I felt like we all had a good time, though we were all thrilled when shorty moved her behind up to the cooler!

  4. I think that when Tyrone gets more than a van load or more than his van can hold he hires out to another driver. Many, many tour companies do this. I would not be upset about that myself as long as the guide was excellent. I would however, be very upset to the point of not going on the tour if I was asked to go into a van with 11 seat belts and there were 13 of us. Did no one question this at the time? Were discounts offered?

No discounts offered, from other postings on here I have gathered that he had booked a private tour as well and basically overbooked for the day. To be honest, it takes a lot for me to get upset on vacation, so it really didn't bother me. Was more just putting it out there for those that it would upset. I'm not sure how many seat belts there were to be honest. Best part was we have stayed in touch with the new friends we made crammed in the back seat, so there's always a positive.

  5. We were with Bernard this past week as well. It must have been a different day, we saw the Jet Blue 3:05 plane, but it came in about 10 minutes early, which they say is somewhat normal. On the schedule that day there were a couple of smaller planes around 11:30, and a couple between 1:15 and 1:40. DJ Dave had mentioned it was there slow season. So if you want to see the planes, I would suggest getting there early for a specific landing.

I agree, the rest of the tour was great. Rosemary's was outstanding.

  6. We just got back and used James and Desiree in St. Lucia. Absolutely loved it, easily the best tour we have done in any of the islands. James is a lot of fun to talk to (especially with the current state of the Steelers) and Desiree was very sweet. She took tons of pictures for us at the waterfall and mudbaths. We also did the banana plantation, Margot, and there were a couple of other surprises along the way. We also sampled fruit directly from the vine and a fresh coconut... The rum punch was very tasty as well. We also seemed to beat the other tours to stops by a few minutes each time, so we had a couple of them virtually to ourselves. I would highly recommend.
