Hello everyone.  Im looking for some good advice on how to handle NCL administratively.  Our family had multiple cruises booked that were cancelled.  We received only one cruise credited. I have been through the ringer and cant get a reasonable response as to why...

    1. I have not been credited for all my NCL cancelled cruises

    2. Why the credits that were given have been washed clean from my online account.

All I get from the accounting or customer service department is that they are busy and that they dont know when they will appear on my account.  ITs been 120 days since the last cruise was cancelled.  I certainly believe I have been reasonable in waiting this long.  Does anyone have any idea besides litigation that could speed up the process with NCL getting my credits due and posted?

    Thanks Kindly!

Dispute with your credit card company. That will get their attnetion.

Although I did an "opt-out" for a refund, I also disputed the charge with our CC as a backup.  I'm not going to wait 90 days and see if NCL actually comes through.  So I have a provisional credit for the full price of the cruise.  I have their vague email reply as proof that I requested a refund, so I better make sure that I don't lose it.

I can't imagine that I will ever sail NCL again.  When things go well they are great.  But if there are problems they will not support you.  I had noticed that even before the COVID crisis.

I did the same, requested a refund from NCL and the cc company. 90 days is too long to wait for a refund so I am hoping that the cc company makes my conditional credit a permanent one. I don't have high hopes based on the experience of others.

I had the same experience from Amex, the dispute was settled in 2 days and the check was in the bank in a week. And I disclosed upfront that I applied for a refund. All they asked was the date the cruise was cancelled.

Citibank sent me the reply from NCL stating that I "accepted" the FCC. This really ticked me off as the FCC was applied automatically to 4200 passengers and there was no option to opt out. The refund form wasn't even available for completion until several days later. I know covid is not NCLs fault but at least be up front with your communications. I replied with the above but I'm sure that I will lose. It seems that AMEX might be a better option in the future.

We had our MB cabin assigned so I guess we were lucky there was still a lot of inventory. I’ve turned down other upgrade offers because I always book angled balconies and I hate giving up the extra balcony space.

I guess the mini suites are all mid ship except for those on deck 8 forward with the large balconies.

I don’t think I’ve ever really seen Haven rooms go down in price. There just isn’t that many rooms in comparison and if they don’t get sold at full price I’m sure they have lots of bids to upgrade to them.

The Haven rooms were reduced this week on my 4/18 transatlantic cruise on the Escape. Lots of availability.

My 12 day European cruise on the Escape this May has dropped $2,000. TA called and I was offered an upgrade from a BE to a MB. This was the third time we have called for restitution after a price drop (I realize that technically I’m not entitled to anything) and have never been offered OBC. We accepted the upgrade, but was wondering how so many people are able to negotiate OBC. The amount mentioned by most posters is 25% of the price drop. In my case that would be $500. Really could have used that for shore excursions.

Same discussion on my roll call for Escape TA on 4/18. Seems like people who have a Norwegian cruise consultant are the only ones getting OBC.  My TA offered me an upgrade from MC to MA but a guarantee only so I stayed with my original cabin.

Thank you for your response, it was very helpful.  I have one more question for you.  I read in a post above that Parking at the Cape Liberty Cruise Port is paid when you exit, via a machine.   How does that work with the parking pass?  Is there someone at the exit you give the pass and ticket to?

The porter directed my husband to an attendant in a booth. You have to stop there before you get the car.

I used to have some small scale business interests in the UK beef industry. The production methods in the US differ from those in the UK. That said we are seeing more commercial processes from the US being employed here in the UK.

The two tops by the window at the stern on S class Tuscan Grills are a delightful place to have dinner though!

I am not a beef expert by any means. The Tuscan is a nice atmosphere. In addition to the steak with a nice gorgonzola sauce, I enjoyed the calamari, broccolini and the chocolate surprise in the creme brulee dessert!

Interesting.  What did you hate?  I would never go back to fixed dining.  Have never had to wait more than a few minutes and don't make a reservation.

Maybe it depends on the ship. The Summit doesn't have many specialty dining options so it seemed that the MDR was unprepared for the number of diners. Even when we were ushered in from the hallway, we had to wait while staff conferred on walkie talkies about whether tables had been cleaned.

Also, table for 2 are literally separated by about 10 inches so it always felt like a table for 6 or 8. We don't mind dining late so we were happy to switch to a more private table with a great waiter!

Sadly the Ocean Liners restaurants on M class (Murano) are all gone and have been replaced with the Tuscan Grille. This venue has a bit of an identity crisis in that it's not a real steakhouse and it's not a real Italian restaurant. And this brings us onto beef. Beef across the Celebrity fleet is pretty poor. Enjoy a nice aged, grass fed steak in any land restaurant and follow it with quick grown, grain fed budget steaks onboard the ship and you will be disappointed.

We had 2 excellent filet mignon dinners in the Tuscan Grille. In the main dining room, my husband hated the steak that is available every day. One tip; there is a 4 oz. filet mingon on the kid's menu in the MDR. Our waiter brought my husband 3 of them and they were very good.

I am curious as well.  What are the base options, how many sit down meals are there per day, what are the alternatives, what can you order off the menu, how many things can you order off the menu, etc.

the Celebrity website is pretty poor to offer any info.  I ordered a brochure.  I hope it comes soon.

Just got off of the Summit on Sunday. Here is what I wrote about the food in my review:

We have not sailed Celebrity since 2000, although we have been on 17 cruises in total. This cruise did not live up to our fond memories of the Celebrity experience. Dining and the On board entertainment options were the low points for us. The excellent service saved our cruise.

    DINING
We choose Anytime dining and there was always a line so we asked to switch to the late seating and the initial request was bungled by one of the dining managers. We got that problem squared away and had an excellent waiter, Moe in the main dining room. Always smiling and happy and bringing us extra food--lol. However, the menu selections were disappointing and curry seemed to be the preferred spice in a number of dishes.

We ate at the Tuscan Grille on the 1st and 5th nights for a reduced rate of $30 pp. For us, it was worth the up charge. We did not try Qsine. We had sashimi for lunch one day in Sushi on Five and enjoyed that experience.

The Oceanview Buffet was as expected. The high points were the raisin bread at the bakery and the ice cream at Scoops. Also, fresh omelets for my husband. My husband absolutely hated the coffee in the Oceanview--weak and no real half and half. It was also hard to get half and half in the dining room--it seemed to be milk or watered down beyond recognition. Also the desserts at the buffet looked great but for the most part, tasted bland. They were better in the dining room. Butter seemed to be rationed in the main dining room.

have never brought wine so have a couple of questions. Is there a charge and can you only drink the wine in your cabin?

We brought 2 bottles in our carry-on and our own wine opener. Our steward got us Reidel stemmed wine glasses and we opened our wine and carried it into dinner. If you ask them to open it, they charge a $25 corkage fee.

Just for grins, the link below is to our live post from the Escape last year when we won an upgrade to a Haven Suite 3 days prior to departure. You'll get a few pictures of what it will be like when you win your upgrade.

Thanks for the anniversary wishes. Amazing upgrade at your hotel and on board! Is that a scale under the sink in your suite? I'll have to peruse all of your live reviews.

We are leaving on the Celebrity Summit on Wednesday and I won the Move Up bid on an Aft Family cabin. My bid was "strong" which was still $1000 less in total than the published fare. There are only 2 of us but I wanted the extra sq footage. larger balcony and to experience an Aft cabin as we have never sailed in one before. Have a great weekend!
