I see your "upcomings".  We also will be on your 14-day Circle Caribbean cruise, and have been looking seriously at the 32-day South Pacific on Sapphire.  Sapphire was the first cruise ship Hubby and I were on together -- maybe around 2005 -- so it has sentimental meaning for us.  It was just a few months old.

Yes that South Pacific cruise is obviously our favorite cruise. We liked the Emerald as well as we really like the Adagio lounge area next to Skywalkers. That size and configuration of ship really appeals to us. We are looking forward to the 14 Circle Caribbean since we haven’t been to most of those islands and tropical islands appeal to us as well.

We arrived at the port at 10:45, dropped our bags, walked up and waited about a minute in the green lane, checked in and off we went to security.  Security took about 5 minutes and then we were off again to get on the ship.

Hello. Hope you have a great cruise. We will be on the Enchanted in December.  How did you get to the port? Car? Fly? Bus? If you drove did you park in the Heron garage? Any info on this would be helpful. Thank you so much for sharing.

And I always wonder how they rationalize that such behavior is acceptable.

They rationalize it by thinking they are just smarter than everyone else. Those of us who have friends like this hear them brag about their strategies.

This is no different from dealing with charges from the Medical Center on board the ships.  All medical center charges go on your shipboard account and get settled up on disembarkation.  When I broke my ankle in Buenos Aires, the ship took x-rays and gave me a boot.  They also arranged for me to see an orthopedic doc in Montevideo the next day, including a cab to the hospital.  After seeing that doc, I had to pay out of pocket for the hospital and doctor charges, and the ship charged their services to me separately.  When I got home, I filed all the paperwork with my travel insurance provider and was reimbursed 100%.

Would you mind saying who your travel insurance provider was? Thank you so much.

Thanks for the information.  I was afraid that might be the answer.  LAX is a mess these days with construction.  San Pedro is a great port to disembark from.  I’ll find a car service to pick us up that can take us directly to the curb at LAX.  We are no longer spring chickens and don’t want to lug our bags very far.

Execucar. Worked great for us for about $20 more than the taxi but with better, private service. Would do again.

You could just stream from your device (phone) to a bluetooth speaker rather than some complicated setup.

Your phone can do most of what Alexa does esp with the Alexa app.

Ah. The simple, direct solution. Love it. We have been doing that long before Alexa became such an annoyance.

    Yes you can.

You cannot cancel the cruise booking or you will lost the deposit, but you can refare.

I did it last month.  No problems.

    Don

Thank you. This is correct information. We asked and were able to refare without losing the non-refundable deposit.

  8. Can you refare to a lower fare in the same cabin if the fare goes down before final payment without losing your non-refundable deposit? Or, do you lose the non-refundable deposit and have to make a new non-refundable deposit? The fare on our next cruise just dropped by $300+, and requires a non-refundable deposit, but we have a $319 non refundable deposit with the old fare. Hope this makes sense.

We just did this for our Alaska cruise.  My daughter and I wanted the price of each excursion charged to our own accounts. So, we each went into our own Princess account, selected the same excursion and added it to our carts. When you get to the end the default payment is your OBC. You have to uncheck it if you want to save the OBC for use during the cruise. Any balance must be paid at the time you select your excursion(s). If you put excursions on your Wish List it tells you it is only for 24 hours. Unfortunately it was far less than that 24 hours and I had to enter them again.

If you don’t want to use your OBC, before you sail, for Excursions can you opt to pay for Excursions by CC and save the OBC for on board?

The LIH airport car rental agencies provide free shuttles from the port & take about 10 minutes.  I’d recommend confirming that your agency provides a shuttle but all the ones we used had a free shuttle to/from the airport.

    Great info. Thank you.

  11. We are coming into Lihue cruise port on Kauai and plan to pick up a rental car at the airport. Will there be taxis at the cruise port to drive us to the airport? Thank you. Hope this doesn't hijack this thread.

I agree.  We stopped going to those venues long ago - I think when we turned Platinum we went to one and that was enough.  We weren't impressed.  Too many Platinums and Elites for Princess to keep giving out "perks" because they already have you.  It's the same I'm hearing on other cruiselines as well.  I'm noticing with a couple of the CC I have that some of the perks have stopped, and nothing was given out to replace those perks.  Maybe it's due to so many people being in CC debt that they're losing money.  Princess figures they already have you onboard, so if you allow them, they will reach further into your pockets.  Also, once you've reached Platinum/Elite status with the cruiseline, they know you're already a savvy cruiser with them and you're more than likely not to open up your wallet so freely.  At least we don't.  BTW, the one venue that I thought was worth attending was the Happy Hour.  Well that's gone too. Sigh....

Loss of the BOGO +$1 Happy Hour is the big loss that effected the most people. Come on Princess bring it back.

We always book a town car from LAX to San Pedro.😄

Same here. The $35 difference in price is nothing compared to the convenience. For an extra $10 our driver met us at Baggage Claim and we never touched our bags until we were in our cabin. A tiny extra cost compared to the cost of the cruise.

We sailed 28 days on Emerald in October of 2017. Loved the cruise and loved the ship. I have absolutely zero negative things to say about that cruise or about Emerald Princess. We're booked on a TA on Emerald in November.

We were on that same cruise and second those remarks. In fact we like it so much we have booked the same cruise on the Emerald in 2020 b2b with the Panama Canal cruise before it. Love the Emerald.
