  1. I stayed at Downtown Days Inn in October before my cruise. It is clean but basic. Ok for one night pre cruise. Definitely walking distance to cruise terminal, about 5 minutes. Lots of restaurants and coffee shops nearby. Very good price compared with the 4/5 stars hotels in the area

  2. At least for the foreseeable future, Majestic Princess will only be available to the China based market. That is the reason why the itineraries for Majestic Princess on the Princess web site, after it reaches Shanghai in June, "disappear". I was told by the Future Cruise staff on my last Princess cruise in October that Majestic Princess sailings after It arrives in Shanghai will only be sold through travel agencies/operators/organizations in China

  3. Walk off early. If you don't have too bulky luggage, the easiest and fastest way is to take the Skytrain directly to the airport. The Waterfront station is less than 5 minutes walk from the cruise terminal. The sky train takes about 30 minutes to the airport. In my October Princess cruise, I took the Skytrain and was at the airport by 9.00 am

  4. If you decide to go, check out the ferry schedule for Sunday. I think there are more frequent rides but at the same time, there may be more visitors from the mainland. I allowed ample time to get back to the cruise terminal. On both occasions, I left early to Crab island and returned to the cruise ship in the early afternoon.

Taxi ride to the ferry terminal is fixed price, well marked at the taxi stand.

  5. Tring : Yes You are absolutely right. It is quite " basic". One main street and no vehicular traffic, only pedestrian and bicycles. On weekends, there are one day visitors from KL. Other than that, there are not too many tourists. Since I had been to KL before and not keen on riding a coach bus in heavy traffic, I opted to go to Crab Island twice on 2 different cruises. Most other cruisers head out to KL.

The taxi ride to the ferry terminal ( close to the train station) is about 10 minutes. The ferry ride is about 30 minutes ( the direct line). There are toilet facilities in the Port Klang cruise terminal and all the restaurants on the small island. Most of the restaurants offer fresh seafood, crab of course. Prices are very reasonable.

I would caution that drink only bottled water, hot tea or beer. If you decides to eat in the small restaurants, do clean the utensils and bowls with hot water or sanitizer wipes first. Crab Island ( Palau Ketam) is still a very local place so the living condition is what you would expect in a small town of any developing country. That is only my personal opinion.

Having said that, I thoroughly enjoyed visiting the place and have no hesitation of going again if the cruise itinerary stops at Port Klang.

  6. Go to Crab Island. Take a taxi to Port Klang, Take ferry to Crab Island, local houses built on stilts, try the seafood lunch. Relax and leisurely day. Plenty of time to get back to cruise terminal.

  7. Beensailing:

I stayed at Novella House in Florence ( by the way, excellent location and accommodation). The owner booked the tours for us. The tour operator is My Tours, http://www.mytours.it. Both tours were very good in terms of sights, timing and price. Francesca, owner of Novella House can book day tours for you. (novellahouse@gmail.com) No payment needed until the start of tour.

  9. Missing the ferry was disappointing but gave me a reason to go back again

Read the small print at the bottom of page 2 of the ferry schedule - cancellation and suspension due to weather or sea condition.

  10. Beware that the ferry may not run. When we were there a couple of weeks ago, the weather was nice, sunny and warm. The ferry discontinued service that day because the sea was a bit "rough". So, we took the train. This happened to our friends who were visiting CT last summer too.

  11. Does anyone know when the post Mediterranean itineraries ( post May 2017) of the Majestic Princess will be released ? It is supposed to sail from the mediterranean through the Suez Canal to Asia where it will home base in China.
